The United States have more than ample clean, natural resources available, within the continental limits and strong nuclear technology to power up America, very cheaply. However, progress in this area have been held hostage by a small minority, that have the ears of the ruling party, and misinformed main stream media. IMO, Al Gore's a lying creep.

Amen to that. I wondered if other regions of the country felt the way the coal regions in Kentucky feel. Father of Green, Al Gore, etc. need to start living green. Show us how to save the world and stop using energy now!

The Left needed a cause that could scare people but still promise utopia if only people would submit to the wisdom of the High Priests. It's called Environmentalism.

They have hijacked the original environmental movement and created a syncretic religion consisting of paganism and Marxism. It is a designer religion. A fraud. A scam. A disguise that seems to represent concern for humanity, while plotting to eliminate most of humanity.

Every popular social movement, from civil rights, to women's rights, to the environmental movement, has been infiltrated, surreptitiously overthrown, then turned into a cloak for a radical, malevolent misanthropy. The Left possesses these movements, like a collective demon, with humanity paying the ultimate price.

Back in the 70's I too was an avid reader of Lovelock, and an environmentalist as well (MA in Environmental Studies). Now I cringe at all the good environmental work that has gone by the board, now that a new "religious" movement dictates the (mis-)allocation of resounces.

Bottom line; there is someone that has decided they have all the answers.
I've never heard of this guy but if the inventor of the Green movement believes it's gotten too far out of control then he should at least be listened to. It's like what George Carlin once said. The world has gone through a lot. He believed that the earth could handle us like it handled earthquakes and floods.

James Lovelock is the typical green that uses electricity, heats his home, uses gas or electricity to cook with, watches TV, writes and emails with a computer, drives a car, but is clueless of where this energy to live with come from, or in fact how things are made to make life easier for them! Instead, they become habitual gripers and moaners on how other people should be living.

Perhaps if greens led by example, by giving up modern living conveniences and instead, live in the woods, a cave, dress in animal skins, cut wood to keep warm and cook with, hunt to survive, walk or ride a bike, read only during daylight hours etc, then and only then, would they have a legitimate argument. I agree with Lovelock on windmills...they not only do not produce enough power, but are an ugly eye sore.
