“Get Those Crackers”: Violent Assault Fails to Lead to Hate Crimes Charges

What do you expect? It’s De Blasio time. Law enforcement imploded badly when Dinkins won. The cops got the message that it will be easier for them to collect their pensions if they stop interfering. And the cons got the message that New York City belonged to them.

Now that Bill de Blasio seems unbeatable, his base is starting to come out in force. And it’s only going to get worse.

The area around Kings Plaza is not a bad neighborhood. I’ve walked down Avenue U to Kings Plaza plenty of times in the past. There’s a bit of a swamp and some wildlife along the way. There is no subway access, but there’s also a public school though and that’s probably the source of the problem.

A group of 10 black youths blocked a white couple’s car in the New York borough of Brooklyn, brutally beating the husband and slamming the wife’s head into the pavement by her hair as they shouted racial epithets, officials said.

Ronald Russo, 30, and his wife, Alanna, 30, were stopped at a red light Monday night when the group crossed Avenue U at East 58th Street, the New York Daily News reported. Mr. Russo honked his horn when the light turned green to get the youths out of the way, but they then began kicking the car, according to the criminal complaint.

Mr. Russo got out to check if the vandals had damaged his car, but he soon was dragged to the ground and severely beaten.

Court papers documented the youths, ages 12 to 18, as screaming, “Get those crackers,” and “Get that white whore.”

Mrs. Russo was calling 911 when a 12-year-old girl pulled her by the hair and threw her to the ground, the Daily News reported. The victim’s head slammed into the concrete, and she suffered a black eye and bleeding.

Mr. Russo suffered a fractured nose, a broken septum, a blood clot and abrasions to his shoulder, the report said. His iPhone also was stolen in the attack.

No surprise. These attacks easily translate into muggings. It’s part of why they happen.

Kashawn Kirton, 18, of the Brooklyn neighborhood of East Flatbush was arrested with Daehrell Finch, 17, of Brooklyn’s Gravesend section, at a nearby Lowe’s parking lot minutes afterward. Mr. Finch was charged with gang assault, assault, menacing and harassment but does not face hate-crime charges.

Why would he?

But if the races were reversed, this would be another Yusuf Hawkins case. The New York Times practically became the Yusuf Hawkins paper for a while to help Dinkins get elected. We’ve still got a cottage industry for Yusuf Hawkins in New York. There was a 20 year commemoration recently. But it doesn’t work the other way around.

Kirton, however, denied the charges to the New York Daily News, saying he was only arrested because he was wearing the same shirt as one of the attackers.

“I have relatives who are white. Cousins and stuff,” he added. “My school is mainly white. More than half my friends are white. I wouldn’t use words like that.”

We truly are in a post-racial society now.

Let’s see? The car weights more than the pavement ape in front of it, you do the math.

    • Hass

      Ahahaha!!…

Get rid of hate crimes. The perpetrators are guilty of assault, maybe assault with intent to commit great bodily harm. That was enough when the law was properly enforced, and it should be enough today. Get rid of hate crimes. They don’t belong in a society that values freedom of thought.

    • DB1954

Intent, yes perhaps, but of course, motive was never an element of a crime thus requiring the state to prove beyond and to the exclusion of every reasonable doubt. Generally, though, you’re correct. ALL violent crime involves a degree of hate. Therefore, there was never any reason to enact “hate crime” legislation. “Hate crime” is a ‘thought crime.’

      • tagalog

Motive and intent are, of course, not the same thing.

        • DB1954

          Yes, that was my point.

    • objectivefactsmatter

“The main value of hate speech should be to aid the prosecution in establishing intent to commit a crime.”

That’s how they sold it to rational people. The liars were pursuing a collectivist agenda the entire time. “Social justice” revenge is what they’re after.

    • Dan

We have too many liberals to get rid of hate-crimes.

  • .

Many if not most Americans will not quicken their step to cross a road. They will not work an the grass if they are walking alongside the road. They actually prefer to walk on the white line or inside of it. Walking on grass must be too strenuous and of course fat Americans have to save every erg of energy. These pedestrians do not care if the is not enough room for you to safely pass them because of oncoming traffic. So you are stuck at 5 mph and they do not care.

Now many lower class black Americans are worse. In my metropolitan area (late 1990s) they were milling about neighborhood streets in the middle of the road hanging out. Cars would come up slow down and finally have to stop waiting for the teenagers and other young men to leave the middle of the road. It was a game to them. they would not leave. People would wait and if they honked they would get aggressive. The police department put an end to it. I experience this myself.

I also saw this in my old neighborhood. I drove thru it and came upon 3 black women pushing strollers down the center of the street. I did not honk. I just puttered until I could turnoff at an intersection. these women would not have cared if I had idled through a tank of fuel.

This is the result of liberal mindset.

I am thinking the guy should not have honked. He should have let them take another 15 seconds or a minute to slowly saunter across the walkway. Yes, these teenager were rude.

These teenagers did not help race relations. But if someone is exasperated and they honk there is no reason to go beating someone. What they did is help destroy race relations. People need dashboard cameras on their cars.

    • Biff Henderson

What they need is .357 and a concealed carry permit to compliment the camera. Round after round, stand your ground.

      • .

        What we need is courtesy.

Not long ago a guy was cutting a lawn with one of those wide decked, sitting, lever operation commercial mowers.

Every time some one would pass with he would kill the rotation of the cutting blade in case a rock might be flung out and hit a passing pedestrian.

He did so when I passed. when I visible picked up my pace acknowledging that his time was worth something, he was appreciative.

Most people may hold doors for other people, but most (of any race) will not pick up the pace across a crosswalk.
The problem with these youths in this case is that liberals have been preaching abut white privilege, cultural imperialism and all the other rot gut. It has filtered throughout society and these kids are taking it out on people and not just white people.

People like Spike Lee make films and decry Asian American businesses and talk about how Hispanics sell drugs in black neighborhoods. Funny thing is these Hispanics are called white by Spike Lee but are called Brown or people of color by liberals for political purposes. it is 2-faced and dishonest.

Liberals like Spike Lee are the cause of this crap.

        • Biff Henderson

Courtesy is a two way street. If you want to go through life licking someone’s backside have at it.

          • .

True courtesy is a 2 way street.

But if the other group is being obnoxious, rude and disrespectful, a person does not have to take a stand then and there. You pick you battles as to time and place. You go so far as to shape your battlefield. When Caesar fought the Helvetii, he dug a trench perpendicular to his lines. Think about it.

If in this case the couple had documented the rude behaviour you can think of it as reconnaissance.

With enough film you could go to the newsrooms, the local NAACP, local police, and others (If nothing else the response to the film will separate the useful idiots from good people).

They can apply social pressure on the youths. This has worked in the past. It worked in Peoria.

After Caesar had defeated the Helvetii, the Romans provided them with food and other supplies and resettled them back into their homeland.

I prefer means other than violence, but that does not mean I will doe so at all costs.

          • Biff Henderson

Caesar never had to contend with thug life mentality. It does not respond well to social pressure. If you want to draw on history, look at the assaults on school teachers in any major city in America. Look at the days lost at work, the scaring and permanent disabilities some of them have suffered going the compassionate justice route. You continue to live in a bubble and I’ll live free.

        • b_marco

.. the crosswalk thing. Not only will most people not pick up the pace, they’ll push the crosswalk button and cross, forcing the single car going 30mph@100yards distance to come to an abrupt stop instead of walking parallel for 5 seconds and letting the car pass before they cross.

    • hellomikie92

Another black on white hate crime? Great….. And the media lies saying that Racism is at an all time low? I never believed that for a second. Most of these hate crimes is among black kids, and teens. That’s another crazy thing. I don’t understand why these parents are raising kids to attack somebody because of the color of their skin? In revenge of 200 years ago? And in revenge of 50 years ago during the sixty’s? Almost every white person alive today had nothing to do with what happened back then, that is done and over with. They had no reason to beat up the couple. They got attacked for nothing. Its very sad.

  • popseal

I joined the exodus out of the violence of New Orleans in 1995. Never have I made a more wise decision. Most of the men in my gun club have carry permits and always do so. I avoid inner cities regardless of inconveniences. Never depend upon law enforcement for anything but “back up” after the incident is over. Calling 911 brings a five minute response to a ten second event. Civilians are on their own, like it or not.

    • defcon 4

Better to be judged by 12, than carried by 6.

      • Rexd63

Better to have superior fire power to use as a deterrent.

        • bjedwards

when threatened, shoot first and ask questions later

  • http://tinatrent.com/ Tina Trent

Call Quinn’s dishonest chief of staff for gender and hate and see if she gives you the same blow-off she gave me, offering to discuss hate crimes enforcement then going silent instead of responding.

The “gang” designation is what is being used when the offenders qualify for bias crime charges but the prosecutor doesn’t want to charge people of color for trying to kill whitey.

  • Diversity Fatigue

Hate crimes seem to only be valid in one direction. I too have encountered the exact situation where a group of “youths” on foot were walking right down the middle of a street and refused to move for my car.

    Post racial society? Yeah right.

    • bjedwards

      concealed carry is the answer

  • MJUdall

But hey, DeBlasio’s kid has a mean fro. And that’s all that matters to the majority of idiots that plague that city.

  • alericKong

riots by mc up-the-butt feat. lil’ MRSA are really getting old.

  • GTFOofNOLA

White people deserve this abuse since they won’t defend themselves, I have no sympathy for cowards or sissies. The strong survive, the weak get conquered. American whites have surrendered without a fight. Nature has selected them to be an eventual dead end. Who’s got time to waste on losers?

  • Hass

Does that mean NYC will revert back to the good old days before Mayor Giuliani did what no one was able to?

  • scallywag

It’s interesting to note the disparaging remarks about African Americans, doesn’t this in some way connote the racial tensions that this class claim to feel?

Never to justify violence but are we really accepting the issue of pervasive racial tensions that exist in the first place…???

    http://scallywagandvagabond.com/2013/10/white-couple-beaten-up-by-black-youths-white-motherfxxxxx/

    • Drakken

Please by all means keep sticking your head in the sand ignoring the problem in the hope that it will all go away. Weak, ignorant, liberal, diversity is our strength nonsense always runs into stark brutality sooner or later.

      • Cap8

Shooting an unarmed black “child” for no other reason than he’s beating your head into the concrete. Now that’s a hate crime! Just ask Eric Holder.

  • roccolore

Democrats invented “hate crime laws” to blame whitey.

  • bjedwards

There is a word for these punks, but it is no longer said in polite society despite its being the most appropriate label.

  • Terry DeCarlo

Well, I mean, come on… it’s understandable because the children were bl African American and they have every right to use racial slurs and stuff against whites for the way we treat them. We (whites shhh) have to expect this and that’s just the way it is folks. It’s our own fault.

    • Terry DeCarlo

I apologize if I sounded racist or offended any of my African American brothers and sisters.

  • Mike Ibara

Hate crime and violence is all over the country. Just google White Girl Bleed a Lot: The return of racial violence to America. http://whitegirlbleedalot.com/. It’s about hate crimes, racial crimes, mob violence, violence against gays.. etc. It’s a collection of violence mostly have videos. You might not believe it but it’s really happening. So scary. I think there’s more than 50 cities.

  • Marine Parker

Why can’t the family use the NYPD and Brooklyn DA for civil rights violations. Let this go to a jury, make them rich and then perhaps only then when money is on the line will things start to even out.

  • Donald Davis II

Hate crimes are here to stay because it’s part of what humans are force fed by humans to humans every minute of every day all over the world. Racism is in every facet of our lives from education, religion, sports, entertainment, politics and so forth. There’s too much money and “power” to be gained, just like the illegal recreational substances issues, to put an end to it. Only way to eliminate hatred is to eliminate the source of that hatred: ourselves.
