Gun Generation: 60% of Students Considering Using their 2nd Amendment Rights

Nothing stirs up interest in a right like the threat of having it taken away from you. If the left had really wanted to get rid of gun ownership, they could have kept up a culture war and counted on the number of households owning guns to continue diminishing for cultural and economic reasons.

Instead the left threatens to crack down on the 2nd Amendment and large numbers of people begin buying firearms.

Now a new study shows that we may be witnessing the rise of a Gun Generation with 40 percent of high school and college students planning to own a firearm and another 20 percent seriously considering it.

This is significant because we’ve been seeing a decline in the percentage of households that own guns. In the 1960s and 70s, over half of American households owned guns. By the 1990s those numbers fell under 50 percent (though some of that may have been polling paranoia over a Clinton Administration crackdown) and by the 2000s, it was in the 30s.  And then the numbers turned around.

Gun ownership numbers have been rising sharply since, reversing two decades of declines. And if the next generation is any measure, we may well be seeing a return to 1970s numbers. Or at least 1980s numbers.

The next generation, growing up under the shadow of a restrictive Democrat-run nanny state appear to be on track to becoming a Gun Generation.
