Guns Don’t Kill People, Obama Voters Kill People

Gun control works. That’s why Chicago, which came out for Obama, and has strict gun control laws, is trying to set some kind of gun violence record, while Salt Lake City and Fargo, where guns are legal, isn’t.
According to police data reported by the Sun Times, Chicago experienced a shooting every 3.57 hours in 2012.
The Sun Times reports that the number of murders in the city of Chicago for 2012 was 506, or more than one per day and nearly 10 per week.
The number of shootings however, was almost five times the number of homicides with police reporting 2,460 for the year.
There were 366 days in 2012 or 8,784 hours. That means that Chicago experienced a shooting every 3.57 hours.
Gun control will do Chicago about as much good as trying to reduce the number of hours in the day. The problem isn’t guns, it’s people. Specifically the types of people who vote for Obama.
Gun violence isn’t a hardware problem. It’s a social problem. As the drug war has already shown us, trying to wipe out a product will not stop the social problem.
Liberals make this same exact argument when it comes to drugs, but take the opposite tack when it comes to guns. But that may be a clash between drug culture on the liberal side and gun culture on the conservative side.
But as Obama pivots from Newtown to Chicago, and from Adam Lanza, who is the atypical face of gun violence, to the Chicago gangs who are the typical face of gun violence, it might be time to start discussing gun violence as a social problem.
