Holder Blasts “Stand Your Ground” Laws as “Needless Self-Defense”

holder, sharpton ap_0

I imagine it’s more needless to Holder whose home is protected by armed security than it is to some guy whose neighborhood has been repeatedly targeted by criminals.

Holder’s NAACP speech is mostly more of the same. Unfair racial profiling by police. Gun control. Despite promising an investigation, he again appears to characterize Zimmerman’s actions as being based on prejudice. That’s not an investigation, that’s an accusation.

It’s time to strengthen our collective resolve to combat gun violence, but also time to combat violence involving or directed toward our children, so we can prevent future tragedies. (Applause.) And we must confront the underlying attitudes, the mistaken beliefs and the unfortunate stereotypes that serve too often as the basis for police action and private judgments.

Separate and apart from the case that has drawn the nation’s attention, it’s time to question laws that senselessly expand the concept of self-defense and sow dangerous conflict in our neighborhoods. (Cheers, applause.)

Holder is more of a Fast and Furious guy than a Stand Your Ground guy.

The list of resulting tragedies is long and, unfortunately, has victimized too many who are innocent. It is our collective obligation; we must stand OUR ground to ensure — (cheers, applause, music) — we must stand our ground to ensure that our laws reduce violence, and take a hard look at laws that contribute to more violence than they prevent.

Self-defense, no. Gun ownership, also no. Holder speeches, yes.

We must also seek a dialogue on attitudes about violence and disparities that are too commonly swept under the rug

Who sweeps them anywhere? Holder talks about them non-stop.

As we move forward together, I want to assure you that the Department of Justice will continue to act in a manner that is consistent with the facts and the law. We will not be afraid. We are committed — (applause) — we are committed to doing everything possible to ensure that in every case, in every circumstance and in every community, justice must be done. (Applause.)

That’s not actually the law. Federal law enforcement was never meant to intervene in every single local criminal case. That’s another word for tyranny.

Note to self:I think I need to buy bigger guns.

    • tickletik

Note to gatekeeper: I recommend cannons.

      • Gee

Absolutely – I think the best self defense weapon ever made is a 3″ Ordnance Rifle with double canister rounds. Range 300 yards x 20 yards. Takes out entire area from the ground to 20 feet in the air.

Best part – no license requirements, and 144 3/4″ lead balls

I think one might have some trouble carrying such a weapon around. The best self-defense weapon is the one you never have to use.

Personally, however, I’ve always favored the firearm that can be carried comfortably and that shows the largest bore to the person it’s pointed at, I.e., as a practical matter, the .45 ACP semi-auto pistol, either the M1911 or the Springfield Armory XDM. For home defense, the 12-gauge shotgun.

          • Veracious_one

A 12 gauge “street sweeper” is excellent for home protection…..I love my 1911 .45…and I have a carry permit…get yours while you still cab…prepare for the future….

        • Veracious_one

a SAW works pretty good too!!!!

          • tagalog

I’m sorry, but I just don’t like that 5.56 mm. round.

  • OfficialPro

Holder is proof positive that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

    • ziggy zoggy

Yeah, but he was corrupt long before he was granted power. Some people are just born bad.

I wonder how a person gets to be the nation’s Attorney General and doesn’t know that a high-profile case like State v. Zimmerman didn’t involve the Stand Your Ground law, but the question of self-defense. I suppose AG Holder’s ignorance of the fact that Zimmerman was pinned to the ground by his attacker with a broken nose while the attacker attempted to asphyxiate him, telling him that tonight he was going to die is understandable; after all, Holder has many chores to perform, but not understanding the law in a case that Holder believes is worthy of making repeated comments on is, really, inexcusable.

    • ziggy zoggy

      Anti-White racism knows no bounds.

  • defcon 4

If Holder and the rest of the US federal government don’t like the US Constitution then maybe we need a whole new government, because I seem to remember the Constitution having a 2nd amendment.

    • Veracious_one

Obama, Holder and company don’t care about the law or the Constitution….probably because they were written by old white guys…

  • herb benty

Someone had the nerve to not die, we must stop that! When you forsake our LOVING CREATOR, you are immediately in the Satanic realm. America is being run by evil people. Dear God help the U.S.A.

  • autdrew

I am becoming convinced that Holder & Obama hold shares or ownership in every weapons & ammunition company in the country. They are fantastic salesmen! Every time they mention guns, sales skyrocket!/obvious sarc

  • Veracious_one

It is our collective obligation; we must stand OUR ground to ensure — (cheers, applause, music) — we must stand our ground to ensure that our laws reduce violence, and take a hard look at laws that contribute to more violence than they prevent.
yeah, but you can’t stand your ground to defend your property and your life….maybe Holder should investigate early releases of hardened criminals, government sponsored gun running operations and government refusal to secure our borders.

“Needless self-defense”? Isn’t that a contradiction in terms? Was the American Revolution “needless”? If I don’t “need” to defend myself, what is it that I don’t “need” to defend myself against? A strong wind? No, wait. Strong winds emanate from Eric Holder and Barack Obama. And they stink.

  • ziggy zoggy

Why is it that White guys who think they’re Black are always the worst anti-White racists? Holder, Obama, farrakhan, “Reverend” Wright, etc? Robert Mugabe seems tolerant compared to these hatemongers. Why? Because he is an honest racist. He declares his hatred to the world. Holder et al concal theirs beneath P.C. platitudes and lefty dodges. Why are these human cockroaches so envious?

    • tagalog

Because they yearn for the freedom to vent their spleens but must moderate that yearning for the sake of their lust for political power.

  • bee

eric holder is the scum of the earth and needs to be tried and convicted of crimes
against the people of the united states along with the black gay muslim dirtbag in the white house.

  • MrApple

“Needless self-defense” is that like needless freedom of speech, needless freedom of religion, needless right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” If I was a high government official with all the perks that come with that type of job, like armed government protection, then I might see ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws as needless too.

  • Donna W

What the h*ll are we going to do, when they take away the castle laws, then anyone can come in and ravage your home & family, and YOU become the criminal, if they get shot. Holder is leaving us defenseless.
