Illegal Aliens Bringing 60 Percent Lethal Drug-Resistant TB to the United States

They have a dream. And it just might kill you.

A member of Congress who for more than 30 years worked as a doctor says the baggage that illegal aliens are bringing into the United States now is killing people.

Last week it was reported that a persistent strain of tuberculosis had developed in some Los Angeles neighborhoods. Officials said as many as 4,500 people may have been exposed to the disease.

Besides California and Florida, the states with the greatest number of multi-drug-resistant TB are Texas and New York, all having large numbers of illegal aliens within their borders. Florida was recently ranked as having the third largest illegal alien population by the Department of Homeland Security. Many illegals in Florida come from the Caribbean and other countries in the Southern Hemisphere, some of which have widespread problems with tuberculosis.

Diversity is bringing a diverse variety of plagues to the United States allowing Americans to benefit from exposure to new and exotic strains of diseases.

The Nepalese man detained at the U.S. border carries a particularly deadly strain—XDR, “extensively drug-resistant” TB. His TB is resistant to at least eight of the 15 or so standard drugs, according to a U.S. government description of the case reviewed by the Journal. His XDR strain has been seen only once before in the U.S., in another patient of Nepalese origin, according to the government description.

The Nepalese patient was taken into custody by the U.S. Border Patrol in late November as he tried to cross the border illegally near McAllen, Texas.

It remains unclear whether other people in custody with the Nepalese detainee might have been infected. By the time the Border Patrol learned of his infection, other people detained with him would have been transferred elsewhere, the CBP official said. Detainees who are suspected of being ill are placed in cells by themselves.

Here’s an interesting question.

Of the thousands of illegal aliens freed by Obama as part of his sequester threat, how many were carriers?

  • HiPlainsDrifter

TB is not a problem, and is covered under obamacare. Isolation, hospice, Boot Hill…no problem..

    • JacksonPearson

Not to worry, because Big Sis says are borders are more secure than ever. /S

      • HiPlainsDrifter

And Obamacare would cut your premiums by $2500 per year…and you get to keep your doctor…and it wouldn't add to the deficit or national debt.
        Nothing they say is true…unless you're a naive political/economic libtard…

        • JacksonPearson

I'm pissed because ObamaCare was hinged on one vote, by one person. Leftist appeaser Justice John Roberts. The people be damned.

Because of ONE misguided, f%$ked up person that usurped the Constitution and his oath to the court, he rewrote the pleading from a "fine to a tax." America is harnessed now with an unprecedented burden of unwanted legislation.

          • HiPlainsDrifter

Yup…obamacare WILL be the bale of hay that breaks the donkey's back and the treasury.
Heard a stat that said, ocare would will increase the national debt by 6 trillion over 10 years…
            I'll bet it's more..
            Just don't get sick, injured,or old…especially old and you'll be fine…

          • JacksonPearson

There was an opportunity to overthrow ObamaCare in the last election, but the RATS have a better voter and election theft play-book than the Pubs.

Yep, I read the same about the future economic damage that's on the horizon. Our country is heading in the same direction as California and Greece. And yet, the One is squealing about the sequestration cuts. He's just lucky I'm not there. I'd cut the government in half, and I'd bet at the end of the day, it'd still be functioning…and maybe better!

    • Judith Spisak

These drug resistant strains of TB can also be the result of improper or insufficient treatment of other TB infections, causing the TB to mutate. What better way to infect the populus and get away with it. No tracks left.

  • @35L10

I am just a mere citizen and my politicians love me. I offer them my blind trust.

I hate ideologically driven lemmings –

These politicians are sacrificing our safety and sovereignty for votes and power. They should be hanged

    • AdinaK

Well, the natives are getting restless, and this is a good thing! To be sure, the open sesame for illegal aliens is high on their agenda, and no amount of TB will stop them. However, there are ways to push back –

BTW, once Americans are disarmed there will be nothing that can be done, even for those who wish to struggle on. Something to ponder….

Obamacare is "shovel ready" for everyone. No waiting. They'll just wrap you in an environment-friendly winding sheet, and toss you into the pit with everyone else. Just as they did with Mozart. Of course, if you're diagnosed with TB, you won't be able to get coverage even if you were a buddy of Obama's, but you'll still be paying for others' coverage. Level dying field, you see.

Globalization is a two way street apparently. The days of allowing infectious diseases to ravage the world's poor while we look away are over. These are global problems requiring global solutions. Anyone who thinks that strict border control could stop the arrival of these diseases to the US forever is living in a fantasy world. We should take the relatively early warning that these cases represent as an opportunity to develop comprehensive, global responses, which will have to include access to quality health care for everyone and serious regulation of antibiotics use. Don't like that solution? Well, then I hope you like a future of killer viruses that don't care where you live.

      How about unicorns for everyone?

      • objectivefactsmatter

Unicorns are a standard feature of the 0'Bama perks bundles. Our healthcare policies, economic policies, and foreign policy all depend heavily on unicorns and their equal equal distribution so that everyone can get their fair share of unicorn. It's only fair after all.

I can see the point in some of this, virii don't respect borders. An ER tech was telling me that one the reasons they don't turn anyone away from ER's is that it's a good idea to find out quickly if you have cases of highly contagious diseases — even among illegal immigrants. But how in hell would you propose funding quality health care for everyone in the world? Are you willing to give up 75% of your gross income to do it?

    • grizzly907la

You sound a f'ing idiot, and you can shove your global response BS!! How about we just machine the SOB's as they cross the border and set the crackheads who got this form of TB because they refuse to bath, tighten up and quit smoking crack! We already shell out for the rest of the GD world, but treat our veterans like crap. You sound like a hippy douchebag.

The days of immigration should have ended long ago; President Lyndon Johnson stated that the carrying capacity of the United States was 200 million people. We now see (we are at 360 million regardless of what the liars at the US Census bureau….who classify mexicans as "white…say). Gridlocked cities such as Seattle and Los Angles barely move. Washington State has ceded the northern part of Washington to China and it is now called "Little China" because liberal Democratic Gov Christine Gregoire, in exchange for China buying Wa State Apples, allowed in endless swarms of Chinese, especially Chinese women who hunt American husbands to then bring in "family reunification" immigrants. Family "reunification" immigration is the largest unknown number in the United States today. American whites (and blacks) are being genocided in their own country via immigration. And Texas, ah Texas, has implemented programs to recycle and "clean" toilet water for drinking due to the over-population (mostly due to immigration). That is the water is "clean" as long as some govt employee says it is "clean" enough for you. Immigration is the last great ponzi scheme of the liberals to destroy America. End all immigration now.

  • beau guest

hey, maybe that's another in long line of cheap and easy attacks on America designed to get the most bang outta the least expense.
    Chemical Ali, anybody?
    maybe you're just a racist. . . . . . . . . . /s

  • Lady_Dr

Before LBJ most immigrants were Europeans with skills. Now in the name of "diversity" they are mostly from 3rd world hell-holes and have no skills or education. I have a liberal "friend" who works for a company which sells their services to APPLY for a green card – no guantees, they just help with the paperwork (and also sell learn English package). She says it is a great company to work for, they have two shifts, fancy company events, and she is thrilled (but then she is a liberal). Evidently it can be heart-breaking work though as she gets people like the doctor in Lebanon who was desperate to get his family out of the country. If he doesn't want to wait 30 years he could just go to Mexico and get smuggled into the country. Sheesh – I hate liberals.

I always wonder just how many muslime Paki taxi drivers does the US need?

  • Mary Sue

Maybe this is deliberate, just like the SmallPox Infected Blankets on the Indians [/sarcasm]

    • gerry

Nothing would surprise me.We are already witnessing a population substitution. To stay in power, the Dems need them,as we have seen during the last election. In fact they need more and more of them, until the substitution is complete.

      • defcon 4

Daniel wrote an alarming article on just that.

In Arizona, the Bloomberg study found a significant shift in the legal status of workers in apparel manufacturing, commercial bakeries, and taxi and limousine service. In South Carolina, Bloomberg found evidence of shifts in the legal status of workers in crop production, commercial bakeries, and special food service.

Eventually all legislators will have to decide what to do about the border fence? Not the well publicized sectors with large populations on either side of the Southern border, which have been cleverly grafted on the retina of journalists, investigative reporters and politicians eyes to illustrate a firm barrier. But the regions further afield that wouldn't even keep out an elephant out, never displayed to the dignitaries or working press. With nothing to show for the border line but some heavily leaning rusty barbed wire, that is evidently where a whole retinue of criminals and welfare illegal aliens are able sneak across bringing with them new strains of diseases? Some areas have nothing at all and nothing to mark where the two countries meet? The tremendously high outlay of complying with the Secure Fence Act's mandate was estimated at US$4.1 billion, or more than the Border Patrols entire annual budget of 3 billion in 1986, supposedly the foremost reason that it was not satisfied; however the business community didn't like being severed from cheap labor. In just a few years the cost of financially supporting the illegal aliens crossing borders would revitalize every state treasury. Every American must demand from Washington the 2006 Secure Fence which was originally passed and then more or less killed, from the ravings of special interest groups and their lobbyists.

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, (R-TX), into the Fiscal Year 2008 Department of Homeland Security funding bill, H.R. 2638 purposely exempted the DHS from having to build any fence at all. While these lawmakers living in their isolated gated homes in Washington continue to play political sport with one another and conspire with the dictatorial Mexican government, while Southwest landowners suffer from Drug cartels, criminals with guns and illegal aliens disrupting their lives; repeated incidents of violation of US sovereignty policies, including some known elements of terrorists cells with unnerving intentions. Later Rep Duncan Hunter (R-CA)voted for the construction of a 14-mile, triple-layered fence along the U.S.- Mexico border near San Diego in the Illegal Immigration Reform bill, which has far surpassed the rest of the border regions fencing complete with razor wire, which minimizes the single fence that has been constructed and remains uncompleted.

The Mandatory Nationwide E-Verify program and other essential immigration laws.

The E-Verify pilot computer program was introduced in 1997, but has only been on a volunteer basis. It is now proven to detect illegal alien workforce, specifically as it is continually upgraded adding new tools, including the usage of Drivers License Records. This is probably is one of the most important potential mandatory laws other than THE BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP BILL, that will prevent illegal alien children smuggled into the United States gaining automatic citizens. It has billions of dollars in costs in free education, free health care, cash payments and other citizen benefits. Whether people find access across the border illegally, or the other 46 percent who stay after arriving here on a flight the revenue spent to cater to them all, would save hundreds of billions in senseless spending annually. It must be voted on immediately, but instead is hidden away by Senator Harry Reid of Nevada so it cannot reach a reading. The Birthright Citizenship bill needs to be amended, so only children whose parent is a U.S. citizen can collect this great incentive.
E-Verify which is a mandatory provision of THE LEGAL WORKFORCE ACT should also voted on without reservation, and also immediately before any new Amnesties are voted on in Congress. If there is a mismatch with documents to identify the worker, E-Verify alerts the employer and the employee is allowed to work while he or she resolves the issue. With the future usage of E-Verify as it is, only affects new labor, not previous hires that may be unauthorized to work? This part of an upcoming law needs to encompass both every worker, new and old hires? Since its inception the corporate world, unions and Department of Commerce have repudiated its positive outcome on the job market, trying to overcome any possibility of it become a mandatory law.
A new study conducted by Senior Quantitative Analyst Jason Arvelo with Bloomberg Government reports have found that there is evidence to support E-Verify has the ability to deter the hiring of unauthorized workers. The study evaluates the impact that state-passed E-Verify laws had on different industries within those states.

The study came away with two key findings. First, State legislatures have experimented with E-Verify laws varying how fast they're rolled out and how strictly they're enforced. This study finds that strict penalties probably lead to higher compliance rates among employers. Second, the research suggests that E-Verify mandates, when rolled out to all employers, influence worker behavior. Soon after E-Verify laws were signed in Mississippi, Alabama and South Carolina, unauthorized workers in specific industries appeared to drop off employer payrolls. This prompted employers in many cases to fill positions with authorized workers.

Well, Texas could using toilet water and recycing it from Orange County Ca which interesting is closer to Texas politics than other places in Ca but also has a huge illegal immirgant popultaion because of the resort and food places near Disneyland-Anaheim is full of illegal immirgants. And even a lot of white cosnervatives hiring illegals to do yardwork and housework. Dana Ronabacher from Orange County said no to them.

Most of Apparel sewing is underground in parts of the States and Arizona lost it to foreign countries after cutting down on illegals but in certain states ike Az few of the workers are legal to become with.

  • cynthia curran

I mean both Texas and OC use recycle water from toilets and have high illegal immirgant populations. Dana is a rep in OC that against illegal immirgants getting legalized.

  • cynthia curran

As Mark Krikorian states tell it to both Obama and Rubio what high immirgant levels from certain parts of the world do but in the case of Dems they want votes and in the case of Repubs they want labor/

  • joe

    It isn't just TB.
Bedbugs ,bubonic plague, antibiotic resistant gonorrhea ,measles ,mumps, hepatitis C D & E, intestinal parasites ,whooping cough, swine and bird flu have all come in with illegals .Refugees have brought the same and ebola.

There are many issues of illegal immigration the MSM & politicians refuse to discuss. All have negative a impact on our country . Democrats are willing to trade your health ,safety, employment and income for the votes they get from illegals.

  • cynthia curran

Well, Joe some Republicans are involved so let's call a spade a spade.

  • Joe Rizoli

I posted a video about the illegal alien problem and the Boston Globes writers

  • American

We may all die from it but the liberal media and the Democrat party tells us we’re racist if we try to prevent illegal immigration.
