We have one big ace up our sleeve - Andrew Cuomo; son of the sfacim (hat tip Bob Grant) who is a lot more pragmatic than his father. Andrew may have been one of the principal movers behind the housing crisis but he has lately steered a more middle of the road course. He is trying to position himself as a "moderate" Democrat and aspires to higher office. He is also shrewd enough to realize that New York State rises and falls with New York City and if things go to hell there the splatter will take down his political career. I can easily see him calling Dumblasio in for a "come to Jesus" moment if the deterioration becomes too obvious. Dumblasio might also find himself removed or pushed aside the way Carey dealt with Beame.

I left NYC 23 years ago, specifically because NYC liberals elected de Blasio's mentor-in-chief, David Dinkins.

It took someone like Rudy Giuliani to reverse Dinkins' crucifixion of NYC, and now the libs have outdone themselves and are about to elect a Commie Sandinista to finish the job.

NYC, like California, deserves whatever it gets!
