Jesse Jackson: Redskins Scalped Indians, Reagan Wanted to Ban Black NFL Players

Every time Jesse Jackson opens his mouth, you can hear the earth over Martin Luther King’s grave moving as he turns over and over again.
Jesse Jackson is clearly jealous of Al Sharpton’s MSNBC career and is trying to out-stupid and out-racebait him. It’s a race to the bottom with a race card in one hand and a sheaf of racial conspiracy theories so stupid that Alex Jones would turn up his nose at them in the other.
Deceased Republican President Ronald Reagan sought to to permanently ban African Americans from playing college and professional football in the South with white people, civil rights icon Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. alleged in a speech at Furman University on Wednesday evening.
I’m surprised Jesse Jackson didn’t claim that Furman University was named after Mark Fuhrman.
In the same speech he also alleged that the modern Tea Party was born from efforts to sustain segregation.
Must have been some of that segregation that was going around in 2008. But if Sheila Lee Jackson can claim that her parents were slaves, why not?
“Goldwater and Reagan – had they been successful, it would have been illegal for blacks and whites to play together on a Saturday afternoon,” he said.
Reagan did become president. Oddly he did not seem to get around to banning black football players. Also he didn’t blot out the sun or take his oath on a Mein Kampf.
In the hour long speech, which focused on race but meandered through a number of subjects, Jackson made other incendiary comments, for example suggesting that the Washington Redskins name is a reference to the scalping of American Indians.
“How about pictures we see of Indians stabbing the cowboys,” he asked. “In reality what happened was if If you killed an Indian… [inaudible]…finally you got paid for the scalps of the red skins of the Indians…and that’s how we got the Washington Redskins football league.”
And Reagan was actually doing the scalping along with the Tea Party. But in the real world… no .
Here is what the Boston Globe published on July 6th, 1933: FOOTBALL BRAVES BECOME REDSKINS
It will be the Boston Redskins, and not the Boston Braves when the National Football League season gets under way next Fall. When Pres George Marshall entered an eleven from Boston in the professional football league last year the team was naturally christened the Boston Braves, but yesterday, just before starting for Chicago to attend the League’s annual meeting, he announced the change in name.
This new name is rather appropriate in more than one sense. The head and since the close of the 1932 season Pres Marshall and Coach Dietz have signed up a number of Indian players.1 Not only that, but the Boston National League ball park has long been called the Wigwam.
The team’s owner was a Tammany Hall member. Tammany was a Democratic Party urban political machine named after St. Tammany, a semi-fictional Indian chief who embodied the virtues that they were supposed to aspire to.
He repeatedly called the United States south “the land of the free, the home of genocide,” and suggested that the modern day Tea Party was born from efforts to maintain “the walls” of slavery and segregation.
Then he called New York City, Hymietown and vowed to cut Obama’s nuts off. For tolerance.
