Kerry to Meet W/Syrian Rebel Leader Who Supports Al Qaeda

Qatar appears to be shipping heavy weaponry to the Syrian Sunni Jihadists and the terrorists are feeling emboldened enough to threaten a boycott of a meeting with Secretary of State John Kerry.

It’s a telling sign of how much American influence has slipped that rather than America having the upper hand in dealing with the Syrian rebels, it’s the rebels who are acting as if they have the upper hand. And under Obama’s weak and inept leadership, they probably do.

As John Kerry arrived at his first stop on his maiden trip as the United States secretary of state, American officials were struggling on Sunday to salvage an important meeting with the Syrian opposition.

Mr. Kerry and foreign ministers from Europe and the Middle East are scheduled to meet in Rome on Thursday with opponents of President Bashar al-Assad of Syria, including Sheik Ahmad Moaz al-Khatib, who leads the opposition. But they are threatening to boycott the conference to protest what they see as fainthearted international support.

Sheik Moaz al-Khatib, the Muslim Brotherhood’s head of the “new” opposition legitimized by Hillary Clinton and Qatar. Unfortunately al-Khatib is at least as bad as Assad.

From an American point of view he might even be worse as he has supported collaboration with Al Qaeda linked militias in Syria.

“The logic under which we consider one of the parts that fights against the Assad regime as a terrorist organization is a logic one must reconsider,” Al-Khatib told reporters in Marrakesh, Morocco.

And as a minor point, Al-Khatib has some things in common with Chuck Hagel.

Khatib’s website features numerous instances of anti-Semitic rhetoric. In one of his own articles, he writes that one of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s positive legacies was “terrifying the Jews.” He has also published others’ anti-Semitic observations on his site: In one article, written by Abdul Salam Basiouni, Jews are described as “gold worshipers.” Finally, in an obituary of a Gaza sheikh copied from IslamSyria, Jews are dubbed “the enemies of God.”

So that’s whom Kerry is pleading to meet with. A supporter of collaborating with Al Qaeda  and a rabid bigot.

However NBC, the lead agency of the government-media complex is spinning the willingness of Al-Khatib to meet with Kerry as a “coup”.

In initial coup for Kerry, Syria’s opposition to attend Rome meeting

Responding to appeals from Secretary of State John Kerry and his British counterpart, Syrian opposition leaders reversed course Monday and agreed to attend an international summit to address the ongoing violence that has ravaged Syria for almost two years.

The opposition’s about-face came as welcome news for Kerry, who is facing his initial test as America’s chief diplomat. In the midst of his first overseas trip, Kerry phoned al-Khatib on Monday and urged the group to attend the meeting with 11 western nations.

During a press conference in London with British Foreign Secretary William Hague, Kerry also hinted that the United States could be open to revising the current policy of not providing weapons to the Syrian rebels.

The bar for Obama Inc. is currently set so low that convincing a rebel group that gets millions in American aid to meet with the top American diplomatic official is considered a “coup”.

Next up, Kerry’s ability to walk and chew gum at the same time will be hailed as a breakthrough. And after that, there’s always the Nobel Peace Prize. I hear those are easy to get these days.

"Kerry to Meet W/Syrian Rebel Leader Who Supports Al Qaeda"

Well of course "Hanoi John" will meet with the bad guys…Because he's working for his boss, who is slated to be the next Middle East Caliph, Barack Hussein Obama II.

Let's face it. Obama and his appointees despise America and Israel as both are deterrents to his goal of seeing Islam take over the entire world. Obama's acts resemble the Koran's call to jihad against anyone who dares question or thwart world-wide Islamic rule because his acts have served to destroy our Constitutional republic, our rule of law, our liberty, and helped the Islamic's infiltrate every institution in this country in order to destroy us from within.

Here is an upshot on the Syrian "rebels", and it is more than likely Obama & gang know these facts too. The upshot is, they want the MB to come out on top, and if Al Qaeda is part of it, then so be it. And "R2P" in Libya was intended for said results – http://adinakutnicki.com/2012/11/25/the-coming-en

    Hanoi John, LOL! how fitting.

The USN should have recalled USNR officer John Kerry back to full time duty, given him a nice Court Martial for High Treason with all the trimmings, and then carried out the appropriate sentence with all the trimmings, including a last cigar and a blind fold.

The misery in Syria has acquainted Kerry with some strange bedfellows, here's hoping he stays on top of the situation.

Brilliant. Yet again Progressives fail to learn anything from even recent history. Too bad Chris Stevens isn't around to remind Secretary "Liveshot" Kerry why giving weapons to al Qaeda disguised as protestors or opposition freedom fighters is a bad idea.

Yeah, Danny, it's called "dealing with national security issues." It means having to speak with some pretty awful people, like good conservative Republicans have over the history of the United States, including your beloved neoconservative W. Bush.

Information is always good. Kerry wants to see what kind of new government is shaping up in Syria. Time to grow up.

I can't believe I'm finally reading some intelligent journalism about the Syrian conflict. Thank you frontpagemag! I have spent hundreds of hours researching this mess (a drop in the bucket I know) but I keep coming around to the same opinion. Everybody says "Assad is so bad" and yet, I don't agree. He's been holding the force of the Brotherhood at bay for 11 years to maintain a secular Syria where all kids (boys and girls imagine that) are schooled and all religions are honored. He had just approved the rebuilding of 10 synagogues. The treatment of Christians there was exemplary. There is much proof that from the very beginning, the Brotherhood has done a brilliant job of creating chaos and violence and blaming it on the government forces.
