Kerry Waits Out Egypt Crisis on Private Yacht

I'm John Kerry, and I'm reporting for duty.

Reporting for Duty

Being Secretary of State is nice work if you can get it. Here Secretary of State John Kerry is reporting for duty aboard his warship, the USS Isabel. While the Isabel will probably shortly sail on a secret Christmas Day mission to Cambodia while dodging RPGs and members of the Kennedy family, for the moment it is moored in Nantucket while the Middle East burns.

3 AM phone call? Please. That’s for people who work for a living.

Kerry spokesperson Jen Psaki denied the report.

“Since his plane touched down in Washington at 4 am, Secretary Kerry was working all day and on the phone dealing with the crisis in Egypt,” Psaki said in a statement.

Kerry was absent from a White House photo showing President Obama meeting with members of his national security team to discuss the situation in Egypt, but Psaki said he had dialed in on a secure phone line for that meeting.

“He participated in the White House meeting with the President by secure phone and was and is in non-stop contact with foreign leaders, and his senior team in Washington and Cairo.”

So we have a Secretary of State who telecommutes from a yacht. Wonder what the Romans would have made of that?

  • Gee

I wonder if Nero looked like a horse too

    • thomas_h

You probably meant Caligula, not Nero.

  • Carlos SpicyWeener

Suddenly, having a horse for a senator doesn’t sound at all that bad!

We should only be so lucky. To have horses rather than traitors in Washington would save the nation.

  • LPetrou

Is that the yacht that is berth in another state so he does not have to pay MA taxes on it? The entire administration is nothing but a joke. And unfortunately the joke is no longer funny.

  • Daffy

Splish! Splash! I was taking a bath… embarrassing political bath revealing how stupid Obama and I look, having gotten into the tub with The Muslim Brotherhood.
