Medicare Spent $28 Million on Drugs for 4,139 Illegal Aliens

That comes out to around $7,000 per illegal alien, no sorry, undocumented immigrant, nope beautiful unlicensed DREAMER. But there are just some jobs that Americans won’t do. Like illegally collect $28 million in Medicare Part D prescription drugs.

Immigration reform now. Alongside medical reform. Because $28 million is just too little.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) spent almost $29 million to cover Medicare Part D prescription drugs for 4,139 individuals “unlawfully present” in the U.S. and thus ineligible to receive federal health care benefits, according to an audit by Daniel Levinson, inspector general of the Department of Health & Human Services.

Medicare Parts A and B cover hospitalization, skilled nursing care, doctor visits, and other medical services and supplies. The IG previously reported in January that CMS had also paid $91.6 million to health care providers to cover 2,600 ineligible illegal aliens.

The unallowable payments were made by CMS despite the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, which prohibits illegal aliens from receiving federal health care benefits, and CMS’ own 2003 memo warning: “Make no payments for Medicare services furnished to an alien beneficiary who is not lawfully present in the United States.”

The IG recommended that CMS “develop and implement controls to ensure that Medicare does not pay for prescription drugs for unlawfully present beneficiaries” by preventing them from enrolling, disenrolling those already in the Medicare Part D system, and “automatically rejecting PDE records submitted by sponsors for prescription drugs provided to this population.”

Don’t worry. Obama and the Republican Amnesty crowd already have this covered.

And if only 4,139 illegal aliens racked up $28 million in Medicare Part D bills, imagine how much 12 million illegal aliens will rack up?

Based on $7,000 spent per illegal alien from Medicare, 12 million illegal aliens would cost Medicare about $84 billion dollars per year. But think of how many votes the Democrats would get from the community if they promise to pay everyone’s medical bills.

This is fiscal insanity. The Democrats have no respect for tax dollars – they use them to buy votes. They will continue to vote for every measure which spends more federal money for their ‘voters’ and increase taxes on the shrinking margin of productive workers in the country (in addition to printing more money by the Fed).

When the majority of the country is on federal benefits (and even illegals on federal benefits), how do you stop this train wreck? It will never be the Democratic party which asks for fiscal sanity, and they will demonize the Republicans for trying to contain federal spending. How do you force Democrats to become fiscally responsible?

That’s nothing compared to the cost of a single government web site these days. Besides, there is no finite limit to our budgets. We’re America. We can print whatever money we need.

Worrying about budgets is the new stealth racism.

Just another example of a dysfunctional broken government. It’s pathetic.

One of many reasons why it doesn’t matter what the Republicans do or don’t do.
Obama owns Amnesty already and will continue his Executive Orders regardless or congress.
Obama, through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), announced that his administration would be circumventing the Congress, and thereby the U.S. Constitution, by unilaterally implementing elements of the DREAM Act, a legislative proposal dealing with minor aliens which had repeatedly failed to become law.
Obama Jobs Program: Help Illegals Compete with Americans for Scarce Jobs

    Mike Flynn 15 June 2012

Today, the Obama Administration, in an obvious attempt to boost the President’s flailing reelection campaign, announced that it would bypass Congress and rewrite the nation’s immigration laws.

The Obama administration will stop deporting and begin granting work permits to younger illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children

    — Long lines formed at help centers and lawyers’ office across America Wednesday as thousands of young, undocumented immigrants began applying for relief from deportation.

They took advantage of one of the biggest immigration policy changes in years. An executive order by President Barack Obama allows those who entered the country illegally as children to remain and work without fear of deportation for at least two years.

A crowd formed at Chicago’s Navy Pier Wednesday to get help from immigration lawyers and fill out forms.

America is THE most expensive country in the world to get sick in. Travel insurance always incurs an extra premium for travelers to the States. Perhaps if the big pharma companies and overpaid consultants were brought down a peg or two, you would have a more affordable system, never mind blaming the Mexicans under Bush and the Muslims under Obama.

And folks, this is just the beginning.

I’m disabled. Truly. I have advancing multiple sclerosis. I’m 61 as well. How do you think I feel when I find that Medicare no longer covers Part D class drugs, something I have to use every day to postpone further disease damage as long as I can? That MS injectable drug has skyrocketed to $6,500.00 PER MONTH. How do I get the drug? Through an assistance program operated BY THE DRUG COMPANY ITSELF. Do you think I’m insulted and angry that I, an American citizen, am discarded when people who have no work ethic or strong values are in the merry-go-round of “DEPENDENT AND ENTITLED” while MY reality is that I’ll end up homeless in about 3 years when I’m 65? If I went to Mexico, much less Canada, Britain, practically any other country in the civilized world, my meds would be covered, my healthcare would be free, and only doctors who truly care about people work in the system. Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans will embrace the FACT that we need, and deserve, a full National Healthcare system. Pharmaceutical companies can charge the outrageous $6,500.00/month nowhere but in the US because it’s the only place where people are actually paying that obscene cost. Doubt the power the major drug companies weild here? Any other options? Move out of the US if you’re really ill, even if you’re an American citizen.
