Morsi Charged with Murder and Conspiring with Hamas

Accusations that Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood benefited from attacks carried out by the Brotherhood’s Hamas outlet have been made before, but now they are moving into the criminal charges stage.

Linking Morsi to terrorism is supposed to embarrass Obama out of his continued support for Muslim Brotherhood, but little does Egypt’s new government know that Obama and his media parrots have no shame.

MENA said Morsi was being investigated over allegations of collaborating with Hamas “to carry out anti-state acts, attacking police stations and army officers and storming prisons, setting fire to one prison and enabling inmates to flee, including himself, as well as premeditated killing of officers, soldiers and prisoners.”

The case is rooted in the mass jailbreak of more than 30 Muslim Brotherhood leaders, including Morsi, from a prison northwest of Cairo during the 2011 popular uprising that toppled Morsi’s predecessor, autocrat Hosni Mubarak.

Over recent months, a court in the Suez Canal city of Ismailia has heard testimonies from prison officials and intelligence officers indicating that Morsi and his Brotherhood colleagues were freed when gunmen led by Hamas operatives stormed the Wadi el-Natroun prison. At least 14 members of the security forces were killed and the jail’s documents and archives destroyed.

So Egypt has made its move. And now the EU and US will have to try and defend Morsi. The Western liberal regimes don’t have much of a leg to stand on considering that they continued to support Turkey’s tyrant Erdogan even as he locked up half the country on charges of participating in a vast conspiracy against him. The charges against Morsi are certainly more credible than Turkey’s Deep State purges.

Judge Hassan Samir said Morsi conspired with Hamas to carry out “aggressive acts in the country.”

Many thousands of men, women and children joined Brotherhood supporters at their round-the-clock vigil in northeast Cairo.

“Our blood and our souls for Islam!” the crowds chanted, showing no sign of backing down in their stand-off, which has polarized the Arab world’s biggest state, long seen as crucial to the stability of the whole Middle East.

State television screened images on Friday of the celebrations that erupted the night Sisi announced Mursi had been deposed. The narrator declared it “the day of liberation from the Brotherhood occupation”.

“Egypt against terrorism,” declared a slogan on the screen.
