Mr. Lincoln Enters Obama’s Gulag

Perhaps hearing that a reunion of Civil War veterans from all 57 states speaking Austrian were about to storm the Lincoln Memorial, Obama Inc. decided to put it under guard.

Because apparently the government shutdown prevents people from visiting a memorial, but not guards from keeping them away.

At Gettysburg, President Abraham Lincoln said of memorializing the dead, “It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced.

“It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us — that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion — that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain — that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Has that nation perished from the earth? Not yet. But it certainly is in danger of doing so.

    Can anyone tell me who these guards are? Are they DC Police? Who pays them, and what do they do when the gov’t is “open”? How much is their deployment by Obama-the-Gulag-Warden & Child-in-Chief costing the US taxpayer?

      It’s very obvious that it costs more to keep it closed than opened. It was deemed by 0′Bama to be essential…to close at that greater cost.

      He won’t have too, since they’ve dropped teaching cursive in school. In a decade or two our founding documents might as well be written in a foreign language, as far as the average American is concerned, because they are all in cursive. Textbooks are already distorting the meanings, and even changing the words.

    Obama is inflating the figures for the shutdown cost to put further pressure on house republicans.

    Actually, i find it a bit bizarre that the shutdown is costing money. shouldn’t is save money? the main source of government income should be from taxes collected, and the bulk of expenditure from salaries paid
    so if we look on the balance sheet i would have expected to see a savings.

    I would be happy if someone could explain it to me.

    It’s telling that they can afford police them to keep them closed, but not to keep them open. The man-hours and equipment hours to block them off far exceeds what it would take to keep them open. If that weren’t enough of a clue that the Obama admin were just being petty and vindictive, they’re also shutting down operations that aren’t federally funded, but are on federal land.

    If the federal government can’t maintain our monuments and parks, and won’t even allow others to on Federal land, then that land needs to be sold to people who can and will. Private parties will do it cheaper and better anyway. For that matter, the shutdown gives us good ideas on what should be privatized, since the federal government is demonstrably incapable of reliably doing so.

    I think it’s time for a real march on Washington D.C. in the millions of disgusted Americans who have had to put up with the Marxist regime of a rogue, out of control, clearly mentally disturbed man in the White House who is aided by another mentally deranged aging Alzheimer’s patient named Harry Reid!
