Muslim Sheikh Who Incited Zanzibar Acid Attack, Shot, Taken into Custody

I guess that’s one way to wrap up an investigation. Sheikh Issa Ponda Issa was only shot with a tear gas canister, but even if he doesn’t go down for the acid attack on two UK Jewish girls volunteering as teachers at a Catholic school in Zanzibar, there’s still the murder of a Catholic priest.
And the whole separatism from Zanzibar thing.
An extremist Islamic preacher who allegedly inspired the acid attack on two British volunteer teachers was shot and captured in Tanzania earlier today
Police hit Sheikh Issa Ponda Issa in the shoulder with a tear-gas canister after cornering him near the capital Dar es Salaam.
A manhunt was launched after it was claimed he provoked the attack on Kirstie Trup and Katie Gee, both 18.
Sheikh Ponda was taken to hospital where he was fighting for his life under armed police guard.
The girls, who had been working in Zanzibar City and who may have been attacked for being Jewish, suffered appalling burns and trauma.
Sheikh Ponda was arrested in October 2012 for stoking religious hatred after Muslim protesters vandalised and torched five churches. He was released in May.
There’s the mistake right there. Evil doesn’t go away if you let it go. It just keeps on going and going. The Sheikh’s followers didn’t get enough attention for murdering local Christians so they rightly decided to go after bigger game by hitting Western tourists and aid workers.
And they got it. They now have international attention and a platform for demanding a solution. That’s how Islamic terrorism works.
