National Jewish Democratic Council Refuses to Endorse Hagel

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam. He is completing a book on the international challenges America faces in the 21st century.

There was some speculation over what sort of statement the National Jewish Democratic Council would put out in response to the Hagel nomination. The RJC even taunted the NJDC on Twitter about it. Well the NJDC has finally put out a statement… endorsing Obama.

In what is probably one of their shortest releases to date, the NJDC refuses to endorse Hagel, acknowledges that it had expressed concerns about him in the past, but says that “we trust that when confirmed, former Senator Chuck Hagel will follow the President’s lead of providing unrivaled support for Israel.”

The shorter version is, “Hagel may hate Jews, but put your faith in Barack Obama.” There are none of the usual links to Think Progress or Media Matters (where NJDC supporters would be told that Hagel is Superfantastic and any criticism of him is a despicable smear of a courageous fighter against the vast Jewish conspiracy.) Whether this is because the NJDC genuinely does not support Hagel or whether it doesn’t want to offend its supporters who do support Israel… is an open question.

A question however arises. If Obama’s support for Israel is so unrivaled, why did he nominate a man that even the NJDC can’t bring itself to support?

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

The loyalty from Jews to Obama is startling.

    He despises them.

Liberals are liberal, regardless of ethnicity.

    Dan,

I was on the fence regarding Hagel, but when I read his comments about the Lebanon war and his opposition to sanctions on Iran I changed my mind. Hagel isn't an anti-semite he's just delusional and flat out ignorant about the issues over there. On the plus side, I doubt he get's confirmed.

It's amazing. We finally found something that both the Far Left and the Far Right can get together on. Too bad that one thing is the Ethnic Cleansing of Jews.

    • Arlie

I don't get where you find the far right want this genocide of Jews. I consider myself far right and the only people I want cleansed are those people that are against Israel. I believe Israel should have ALL of it's land back and all the tribes wanting to return can live in safety and security. Israel has restored the land and kept the Torah for generations to learn and gain wisdom. I pray Israel continues with their rich G-d inspired heritage and culture and the world will wake up to the truth. Although I don't get to decide it is His Will, not mine. I do not appreciate Chuck Hagel or what he represents. There is nothing good in DC.

Obama reminds me of an individual I once had the misfortune of knowing. This person – like Obama – was never happy, unless there was conflict, discord, and division. This person would instigate (deliberately) conflicts. The person enjoyed seeing others angry, fighting — and knew precisely what "soft spots", the vulnerabilities of others were –and would exploit this for reasons of power and control. (Later on, I read about psychopaths, and their personality disorder. The odd thing also, was that the person was so manipulative and cunning, no one ever caught on. The person would use lies and flattery — and hence, never be held accountable.) And when I read statements made by Jewish democrats supporting Obama — it is like a hideous flashback.

We will witness another holocaust, but this time no one will be there to save the Jews, and frankly speaking they would have brought it on themselves, by the way they are behaving. It is shameful, and I am a Jew.

    • Ben Cohen

I think his ridiculous attitude toward the Lebanon war is more troubling then his attitude toward Israel. What's to discuss? You either believe private citizens have the right to arbitrary wage war against foreign countries, or you think the Hezbollah nutjobs need to be disarmed and thrown in jail.

    • Joe Hamilton

@ Victor .You statements are totally absurd especially your comment "no one will be there to save them (from another holocaust) . No one saved any Jews ,genius . That was why they lost 6 million . But since you appear to be in a time warp and believe the Jews are in the same predicament as in 1939 when they were a small ,defenseless, minority among jealous, very sadistic ignorant Euro Trash, I hate to inform you times have changed. As for you being a Jew, despite the insane support among Jews for Obama , I don't believe you are Jewish. You are very likely an anti-Semite. Israel now is the second most technologically advanced country in the world with the third best army in the world (with only the US which has 45x the population and China has 200 x the population having stronger armies and air forces. A backwards sh-thole like Iran is far different than Nazi Germany in the late 1930s and 1940s. If Iran attempts to attack Israel , it will definitely be the Iranians who suffer a holocaust. Anthony Cordesman in 2009 did a one hundred page study on the theoretical outcome a nuclear exchange between Iran and Israel. He concluded Iran would cease to exist a functioning nation and society and will suffer approximately 30 million casualties while Israel will suffer less than one million and continue to function as a nation. You imply in your vile anti-Semitic diatribe Israel /Jews
deserve anothe holocaust. Sorry Adolf, but it willl never happen .
