Who says that there isn’t a recovery or that there aren’t any jobs? Just look at all the openings that the Crips and the Bloods have waiting for you. The hours are light and the money is good, but there’s a very good chance of being shot in Chicago. But ObamaCare should help fill the gap in the poor gang health insurance benefits.

Newt Gingrich correctly pointed out today that gang membership has grown by 40% since Barack Obama was elected.

There were approximately 1 million gang members in 2008 in the United States, an astonishing number.

Today there are at least 1.4 million gang members in the United States, an increase by 40% since 2009.

The number of gangs also appears to be up from 20,000 to 33,000. Those must be all the small businesses that amnesty advocates claim illegal aliens are starting up.

Approximately 1 million gang members belonging to more than 20,000 gangs were criminally active within all 50 states and the District of Columbia as of September 2008. Some 33,000 violent street gangs, motorcycle gangs, and prison gangs with about 1.4 million members are criminally active in the U.S. today.

According to the 2011 National Gang Threat Assessment report, gangs are responsible for an average of 48 percent of violent crime in most jurisdictions, and up to 90 percent in others.

But surely if we outlawed gangs, they wouldn’t be able to shoot each other. Just like they can’t sell drugs.

But I would say the increase in gang membership, over the past several years is a function of open borders/high immigration. Latino kids have a high incidence of gang membership, as well as a high school dropout rate sky high.

Next on the left’s agenda: Amnesty for gang members with fewer than 3 felony convictions. Call them “activists” now. They’ve only been looking for a little “social justice” and there’s nothing “engagement” can’t solve.
