Obama Eliminates Breakfast for US Troops in Afghanistan, Stuffs Own Face

If only American soldiers in Afghanistan were unemployed Democratic voters in Chicago, then they might be getting three square meals a day from the government.

But the military is the one place that Obama feels comfortable slashing expenses. While spending at an uncontrollable rate unseen since the last days of the Roman Empire in every other area, Obama has been cutting “waste” in the military like 20,000 Marines, Tricare healthcare for veterans and breakfast for soldiers serving in areas where he would only venture accompanied by heavy firepower.

Warren Buffett and other crony capitalists can pig out on Obama’s trillion dollar deficits. As for the troops. Let them ear MRE’s.

The Army has stopped serving cooked breakfasts to some of the U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan as part of its drawdown, a move that prompted troops to write home asking their families and friends to send care packages with cereal, breakfast bars and other foods.

The Army told the Washington Guardian the current cutbacks began Jan. 1, and affect about 2,700 soldiers deployed in forward operating bases in more remote areas of Afghanistan.

The Washington Guardian reported earlier this month that the current budget crisis in Congress prompted Deputy Defense Secretary Ashton Carter to write a memo order preparations for sweeping budget cuts across all military programs to begin as early as next month.

Officials stressed other comforts at the forward operating bases may also soon be reduced, such as laundry and recreation, as officials look for other ways to reduce the American footprint in advance of departing the country.

They said the meal cutbacks are currently affecting forward operating bases in more remote areas of Afghanistan and not affecting the main American bases in Kabul and Kandahar.

Exit questions. How many cooked breakfasts for soldiers would Obama’s 20 million dollar Hawaii vacations and the 1.4 billion that his clan’s non-stop partying buy?

While American soldiers go hungry, here is what Obama and his corrupt cronies had for their inaugural lunch.

First Course: Steamed Lobster with New England Clam Chowder Sauce, Sautéed Spinach, Sweet Potato Hay
Second Course: Hickory-Grilled Bison with Red Potato Horseradish Cake, Butternut Squash Purée, Baby Golden Beets and Green Beans, Strawberry Preserve and Red Cabbage
Third Course: Hudson Valley Apple Pie with Sour Cream Ice Cream, Artisan Cheeses
Wines: Tierce Finger Lakes Dry Riesling (2010), Korbel Natural, Special Inaugural Cuvée California Champagne, Bedell Cellars Merlot (2009)

Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were humanitarian social workers compare to Barack and Michelle Obama.

UPDATE: Here are some comments by current and former service members

Gee

How outrageous – when I was in the US Army – it was a requirement that they provide 3 hot meals a day unless in field. Failure to provide that was grounds for an immediate honorable discharge.

I’m over here in Afghanistan right now and it’s no “crock”. I’m on Bagram and they just stopped hot breakfasts here as of 1 Feb. This isn’t about winning or losing it’s about what the current President is doing against the country he is supposed to support.

Ar’nun

I’m glad I got out when I did. There were two things in Afghanastan worth looking forward to. Going Home, and hot meals. Now the hot meals were not exactly gourmet, but they got you through the day.

Coach

When I ran a mess hall it was stressed to us to do the very best job possible because meals are part of a soliders pay. This is a violation of soliders’ rights. Where is Congress on this?

James

First off as a vet, I will tell you flat out no one serving active duty is going hungry. That accusation is just ridiculous in its face. Second I think it is really nasty that the government has cut back on giving active duty troops a warm breakfast but military is typically one disappointment after another. Be that disappointment about available duty stations, watch rotations, time allowed for liberty or just a phone call home, and so on. So as a veteran, I deeply sympathize but this is really just one more disappointment from bureaucrats, republican or democrats, who have no idea what it’s like to be deployed. This is however an awesome opportunity for all those who say they support the troops, to put their money where their mouth is by sending care packages. Here are a few trustworthy links:

And even if people did vote for this, we didn't exactly vote for him doing something so stupid! and just plain DISRESPECTFUL! Screw you Obama!

      • Ron Christopher

Everybody who voted for Obama knew exactly what kind of idiot he is. They also knew that his goal was to destroy America. They voted for him anyway because his goal is their goal.

    • http://1389blog.com 1389AD

But many of the troops' ballots either didn't arrive in time for them to vote, or were never counted.

And you can bet not many of them would have voted for Obama.

      • w. Andrako

Or they were never sent. This has been a problem for many years and the troops never get a fair shake. Why can’t there be a standard form and plug in the names for the various states and referendums? Put them on line and stop this play grouned in the election offices in the states.

They carry extemely heavy equipment with them all day long. Feed them!!

Um I hate to tell u this buddy but you did not read your contract very well. The US Military only has to give you 1 hot meal per day. It is in every contract that anyone signs when they join.

    • Fedup

This is outrageous, the guys out front are the ones who need a hot breakfast the most. The REMF's could give up a breakfast now and then. Why doesn't Obama take a few food stamp vouchers away from some of the moochers in LA, Detroit, chicago, NYC to make up the difference. He does't because those are votes he would lose. This WH speaks out of both sides of his mouth. He is out to destroy this country and is well on his way to do that. First by putting the US in 16 billion $$ debt, disregarding the congressional process by 1. appointing czars to do his bidding, 2. signing executive orders that are and has been determined illegal as ajudicated recently by a lower court ruling. 3. If he has his way he will disarm the american people, and bring this country to its knees. 4. He is dumbing down christianity and promoting Islam which by it own word wants to kill all christians. He is the enemy and he is amounst us.

Where in the world do you people get the idea that Obama simply waves a wand and personally imposes these cuts? First, ALL cuts to defense and otherwise are coming about because Republicans have refused to recognize that we have a REVENUE problem. Conservatives CANNOT claim on the one hand that we have 25 million people NOT WORKING, because "where are the jobs", and on the other hand claim that we don't have FEWER TAX REVENUES coming IN to pay our bills because those people are UE. In fact, when tax revenues have — for 30 yrs — averaged 18.3% of GDP, in 2012 they were just 14.9% of GDP. The GOP claims weathy people LIKE ME can't be taxed more….and I ask, WHY. Romney is paying 14.5% in taxes on $20 million, while a guy earning $34,500 is paying 28%….and then you ask who is @ fault for the fact that soldiers don't have hot breakfasts.

  • Mark Anderson

Danny boy, you are such a worthless talent. Good pick of all the propaganda.

    • Mary Sue

no, what you were listening to that caused you to determine that this article was "propaganda" was the actual propaganda. I am guessing you only believe something if it comes out of the mouth of a left winger, and even if it's proven false.

    • Brenda Holzke

Sorry Mark, you are wrong. My son is serving in Afghanistan and I heard it first from him. He never complains I had heard it from another solider serving over there and asked him about it. He is only getting 2 meals a day. Out of the horses mouth!

  • BLJ

I wish someone would stuff their fist in Obama's mouth. Him and that witch he is married to are grifter supremes.

    • Edward Cline

David L: Greenfield's observations, reports, and news have been 100% spot-on and accurate. He does not report "crock." He wouldn't have posted this item if there was no substantive evidence for his allegations. He is not in the business of saying the sky is falling, a la Chicken Little. If the sky is falling, he just wants you to know that before it falls on your head.

    • Aja

On national television. That would be the highlight of the year

  • David L

This article is a crock ! You folks will believe anything anti Obama ! You lost get over it!

    • Daniel Greenfield

      " You lost"

So did America and American soldiers

      • RenaB

America certainly did lose, They lost all self-respect when this man became President to begin with!. B. Hussein Obama is a boil on the ass of humanity! Wake up America while you still can! As far as I am concerned anyone still supporting and believing in him is blind, deaf, dumb, ignorant and irresponsible to the USA to say the least!

        • K. Griffin

RenaB you could not have put it any clearer. I am currently going through the Medical process for a Medical Retirement with 23 years of service and 10 deployments, 8 of which i served over in Iraq and Afghanistan. This David L "CLOWN", must not have served in our great country's MILITARY!!! Thank you RenaB and ALL those that support our troops, ( your mother, father, brother, sister, husband, wife, child, grand-child) that are serving our country that is being run into the ground as we speak.

    • Mary Sue

ok then dude, where is the EVIDENCE that this article is a crock? Your opinion that it is a crock, unsupported, is unconvincing. Particularly since Daniel linked his sources and you did not.

      • VoiceOfReason

Mary Sue, did you even bother reading the sources that Daniel cited? If you had, you might have learned that:

        a) This decision was made by Col. Joe Wawro, "an infantry commander for the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat team." Here's a direct quote from Col. Wawro in the article:

“After carefully examining all these inputs, I decided to modify the meal cycle as described above. This has absolutely nothing to do with the national budget and everything to do with our responsible reduction of forces."

Not even the Secretary of Defense is involved in day-to-day operational decisions like this, much less President Obama. I mean come on, do you honestly believe that the President of the United States is making decisions like this, or do you just believe anything that reinforces your hatred of Obama?

        b) The title "Obama Eliminates Breakfast for US Troops in Afghanistan, Stuffs Own Face" is a crock in itself. We've already established that Obama has nothing to do with this anyway, but more fundamentally, breakfast has NOT been eliminated for US Troops in Afghanistan. Only cooked breakfasts have been eliminated for some of the bases.

Here's another DIRECT QUOTE from Col. Wawro, which you'll also find in the article:

Soldiers in the affected bases still get cooked lunch and dinners, and rely on MREs for breakfast and night snacks and that “most dining facilities have a variety of take-away items like cereal, milk juice, fruit, oatmeal, granola bars, etc. to augment the MREs."

"By changing the meal cycle, they would reduce their overall operations by 40 percent” if breakfast and midnight snacks were converted from cooked options to MREs.

So you see Mary Sue, this article IS a crock. It is so unbelievably untrue that I'm embarrassed for you and everyone else who weren't quite bright enough to notice it. This is BASIC stuff Mary Sue. Basic.

I won't even comment on the article's ridiculous statement that Obama's administration has been "spending at an uncontrollable rate unseen since the last days of the Roman Empire in every other area." Nor will I explain why an inaugural dinner menu is so irrelevant that the author made himself look pathetic in trying to reach for a comparison.

Now, Mary Sue, are you convinced that this article is in fact a CROCK?

        • sheila R

And who exactly appointed Col Wawro? Soldiers without full hot meals is unacceptable period. Never ever have I heard the cutting of mess provisions for soldiers in forward areas because of pending removal. EVER. Do you even realize the amount of calories these people need to do the work required of them? The least we can do to give them comfort is hot food. This is shameful and yes, I do blame Obama. One marines Mother stated her son told her he went to the mess for breakfast and there was a sign up that said , No breakfast due to spending cuts. Sorry but I'd believe a soldier before I'd believe you.

"affect about 2,700 soldiers deployed in forward operating bases in more remote areas of Afghanistan"… these soldiers are in the field and will be leaving in several months. Stop trying to paint this as Obama being against the troops… he is not, he has their back and is trying to get this Afghan War wrapped up so they can go home (finally).

    • Gee

And they can't fix hot meals at a base? Sure could during the time I was in the Army, why not now?

    • Ar'nun

You really think it is alright that soldiers have to beg their friends and families to send them breakfast from back home?

    • Mary Sue

He has their back alright, and he's twisting the knife in it as we speak…

    • Lorinda Keel

I would find it MUCH harder to NOT believe this. First of all, a vet speaking about the way it was when HE was there is not the same as active duty speaking about how it is now. If you believe NOTHING you read on facebook or hear in the news, believe this. The U.S. is suffering both economically and militarily. We have a president who has broken law after law and has not been held accountable for ANYTHING. He spends your money and mine like it belongs to him and turns around and makes cuts to programs paid for by you and I that I guarantee I would rather support than his overspending on vacations and inaugural dinners AND WELFARE for a bunch of lazy S.O.B.’s who believe that the government (funded by you and I) owes them a “Free ride”. Quit sympathizing with this pig, Obama, the BIGGEST LEACH ON OUR WELFARE SYSTEM….

    • MoreCommonSense

So because they are leaving in several months they don't need good meals? Only 2,700?

    • Paul

They'll be leaving in several months…I think we should feed you what Obama allows the soldiers to eat for those SEVERAL MONTHS! Since you think its such a walk in the park!

    • sarg

common sense by the sound of your commits you have never severed your country enjoy your freedom and don't trade all your food stamps in for crack you still need to eat

    • Meagan

My brother was JUST deployed Jan 16 and when he got settled, was informed of the "no breakfast" so this isnt just to those soldiers "who will be leaving in a few months" but lets take breakfast away from you for a few months and see how you feel.

  • JOE

I work for a govt contractor and we’re not allowed to have anything that would even give the appearance that we’re using tax payer funds for anything frivolous. How is it that they are having wine at a government sponsored event – aren’t these people technically on the clock at these events?

    • Ar'nun

They claim they are VIP's and it is only appropriate that VIP's get served only the best. People like you and me on the other hand get whatever scraps are left.

    • objectivefactsmatter

"How is it that they are having wine at a government sponsored event – aren't these people technically on the clock at these events?"

Because they're not sincerely concerned. If 0'Bama was a "transformational" leader (go to he!! you "anti-racist" racists who show loyalty to him only because of his self-identification as "black"), he'd lead by demonstrating humility and economy on a personal scale at least symbolically. Like announcing cost-savings moves as he participates in some aspect of it, at least symbolically by skipping breakfast himself.

But all of his "cost cutting" concern is reserved EXCLUSIVELY for the military. Period. It's not about saving money. It's about deflating US power and thrilling his radical psychotic leftist peers. It's pure politics. I won't be surprised when we find that 0'Bama is spending more on line-item military expenses like toilet seats and hammers just to make sure they get the least benefits from what little funds remain. This is the guy that redirects ammunition to Homeland Security rather than arming embassy guards. He has Christians and Jews to shoot when the time comes. Any atheists siding with those "right wing radicals" will also get the same "love" from 0'Bama, the caliph prince wannabe.

    • john Stone

Well, you got your observations right. It is about appearances and the top scroogeing the guys at the bottom.

  • Ar'nun

I'm glad I got out when I did. There were two things in Afghanastan worth looking forward to. Going Home, and hot meals. Now the hot meals were not exactly gourmet, but they got you through the day.

    • Raymond in DC

Traveling through Turkey on the way to Iran in 1976, a young Westerner on the same bus suggested Afghanistan was good for only three things: hash, opium and wolf coats. I don't know about the wolf coats, but the hash and opium is still flowing – all US efforts to get them to grow something less harmful notwithstanding. Today the Taliban are resurgent and our troops are dying because of restrictive rule of engagement. The best thing we could do is get out and put Afghanistan under quarantine.

      • objectivefactsmatter

"The best thing we could do is get out and put Afghanistan under quarantine."

Exactly. The quarantine should be executed first and then leave them. Then move on to the next cesspool and secure the world that way.

And where's your evidence that this is correct?! You have none. All of this is crock and should be taken down. But due to our freedom of the press they can write whatever they want even if it's lies. Go on google and look it up…it says that it is mixed with some truth and some lie. They are trying to transition the troops out because they are letting the countries take back their land. Wouldn't you rather have that than them stay there and have hot breakfast? I think not. So why don't you think and do the research before you write a comment.

I don't beleive anything from snopes or from the WH . they are all in bed together.

4 meals a day? Tell me where. Not even Leatherneck does that and that's the biggest base out here.

This link confirms everything this article said…no hot meals..eat MRE's. They gave an explanation to try and soften the truth. Bases are closing and or being turned over to Afganis. But when? It wasn't stated. Till the end of 2014? So a soldier could go over a year may two without a hot breakfast if he is stationed at these remote areas? That is wrong…way wrong!

    • guest

Even if the forces are being cut back, how hard is it to have a hot breakfast? Give them a hot breakfast until they leave, period. Pack up the kitchen when the troops pack up and leave.

Liberals are leftist idiots that spout the party line ad infinitum and ad nauseam. If there were a better example of a brainless zombie, I can’t think of it. Hence, by repeating the same lie over and over, the public gets so tired of pointing out the obvious fallacies that they simply stop arguing about it and it becomes “the norm”

It is so bad now, that what has always been good, is now condemned as bad and vice versa. According to the wild eyed, extreme, and radical left is now perceived as good and the conservative right is viewed as evil. To paraphrase a popular song of recent years “… Satan is laughing with delight.”

That's why taking over the schools was so critical. Any normal population of Americans wouldn't have tolerated this crap. It was the baby-boomer batch that set us up for this mess, and the Soviets were ready and waiting for those sheep.

      >>military is typically one disappointment after another. — I left the military bitter. Part of it was bad attitude, but part of it was the military also. There is nothing about being routinely jerked around for no reason that makes being routinely being jerked around just okay. They tell you it is for some military purpose, but often it is just for the convenience of the higher ups. Nobody wants to bother with anything for the benefit of the troops.

    • Noma

Why is it up to the people, who BTW are out of work and struggling themselves, to provide care packages. We can't! Many of us don't have the resources to feed our own family! We have a serious mess – unemployment / poor economy / etc. / etc. bho owns this and he has to turn things around. Is he capable of doing that? I pray every day for solutions, but I am worried that he is not capable and / or willing to do the job.

James, I agree…send care packages. BUT…Obama is spending 1 Trillion MORE every year than Bush did and he had two wars going. After ending the Iraqi War…he has been operating on the same budget since 2009…a nice gift from Reid who refuses to do a budget and the lame Speaker of the House who is too timid to cut the purse strings. I think Obama has more than enough to feed our boys caviar in the bunk with wine! But instead…he is busy running the largest and most expensive White House in history…1.3 BILLION a year and buying 4G Obamaphones with excellent calling plans for every single welfare recipient and their families. Go figure!

Not true. My son serves, and active duty, at least in Germany, now pay for their meals in the field. Unless they are out of food, and the soldier is out of luck. Happened to my son. So dissapointing, and he is soon to deploy to Afghanistan or Africa.

Where should we send any and all breakfast type foods so our people can eat since the “Prez” couldn’t care less.

  • Chris S

Cutting local national’s making breakfast, sure… that is okay. Cutting hot breakfast altogether is retarded. Give them the food, let the cooks make the food. Same with laundry service.

If the administration wanted to cut costs, they would stop hiring these damned local nationals and contractors to do jobs, paying them far more than what is necessary, when we have military personnel SPECIFICALLY TRAINED to do these jobs. Our government is a joke, it was doing this even when Bush was in the office.

We need to elect new TYPES of leaders, instead of the same “platform politicians” that we constantly see getting elected. Our politicians need to vote on issues based on the good of everyone, instead of the good of their own wallets. It is getting ridiculous, and I hope the rest of the American people start to see this.

  • Coach

When I ran a mess hall it was stressed to us to do the very best job possible because meals are part of a soliders pay. This is a violation of soliders’ rights. Where is Congress on this?

  • A.M.

As someone who is currently living on one of these controversial FOBs that only serves two hot meals a day, yes it is true. Due to preparations of trying to get us out of here, they have cut breakfast. It is much more cost effective to leave perishable food here than it is to throw it on a C-130 or C-17 to get it out of here. It was a sound financial decision in my opinion. You people that believe this hype are idiots. We are NOT starving here. If we need food, there is places we can get it. We are not “begging” for food to be sent to us as this idiotic writer portrays. Hell, when I WAS getting served breakfast, I was asking for cereal and such to be mailed to me. Nothing is different. Business as usual. You radical Republicans should just carry on to next thing to gripe about.

Now, if any of you would like to send me some cereal, I like corn pops.

    • Captain Falcon

Does the rest of the troops at your base feel the same way?

    • objectivefactsmatter

" Hell, when I WAS getting served breakfast, I was asking for cereal and such to be mailed to me. Nothing is different. "

It's all about you personally. We feel so much better now that you are unconcerned about those who gained from their hot meals that we agreed to supply to them.

"You radical Republicans should just carry on to next thing to gripe about."

Deluded leftist out of the closet.

And I am a Major General in Afghanistan. I am fully aware that I cannot prove it but I will claim that anyway in my posts shilling for Obama here on the internets just to appear as if I actually represent a widely held opinion. In reality I am in my moms basement and am too scared of black rifles to ever actually go outside or join the service.

    • Mike Thompson

Dear Mr./Mrs. A.M., thank you for setting the record straight. I am Republican but I can't trust anything my people say anymore. As for your Corn Pops, please let me know where to send them and I would be honored. Thank you for your service and God Bless.

Another thing, the decision to chop breakfast didn't come from Obama. It came from the ARMY ground commander of the Paktika province. Carry on.

"Another thing, the decision to chop breakfast didn't come from Obama. It came from the ARMY ground commander of the Paktika province. Carry on."

OK. Did 0'Bama "kill bin Laden," or did it just happen on his watch? Is he accountable after 4 years of his decisions and leadership? Suckers like you always believe liars like 0'Bama who take credit for things they don't do but never accept accountability for people they hire and direct and decisions and consequences of their "leadership."

      • A.M.

LOL. What are you even ranting about now? Anything and everything? Here let me put it in perspective for you. Let's play the pretend game for a minute. If you were living in NYC, and were moving to LA. The day before moving to LA, are you going to go to the grocery store and purchase a whole bunch of perishable food that you know 1) is not worth the space in the moving truck 2) it wouldn't even make it to LA without spoiling, OR are you going to hold off on that grocery run, perhaps sacrifice breakfast for a bit until it is worth it to buy your glorious breakfast food?

Remember, you're getting the information from someone actually living what you are bitching about from your cushy couch in the US.

        • Michaela

Yea you may be living it but that gives you NOOO Right to be such a DICK!! Sure you may feel that way but there are other people effected by this that may have different opinions not just YOU!

        • objectivefactsmatter

"

Good point. "Everyone knows" that when you move to LA from New York you stop eating breakfast 2 to 4 months beforehand. It just makes sense you know. It's the only way to make sure you don't waste any eggs. And we're so concerned about saving every penny at 0'Bama inc.

        • objectivefactsmatter

"…from your cushy couch in the US."

You could guess in a million years where I am. You're the one making hypocritical assumptions. It's consistent with your conclusions too. You didn't exactly respond to my points yet I replied directly to your silly analogy. The Army is not moving a family from NY to LA, and we all get that managing perishables calls for making calculations. We also get that saving money on food is the last thing that needs to be calculated so conservatively. You're a tool.

Barack Obama is the COMMANDER IN CHIEF. Get it?

      • objectivefactsmatter

"Barack Obama is the COMMANDER IN CHIEF. Get it?"

They only remember that for one occasion, the one 0'Bama had virtually nothing to do with.

    • Noma

the ground commander was given his marching orders. Not his decision to limit the food / fuel to his troops. he was caught between a (ba)rock and a hard place.

    • Jasper

where do you think he gets his orders dumbass????

  • Captain Falcon

Everyone here clearly is trying to find a way to hate the president. Sure he makes bad decisions, but even with the word from the people in the areas being affected, saying it's not that bad, you still complain like they don't know what they want? They're grown men. They know what they're doing. They know what they're talking about. They're over seas, dealing with this, not you, and they complain a hell of a lot less than the rest of you. Use your logic, not your misplaced feelings.

    • objectivefactsmatter

"Sure he makes bad decisions, but even with the word from the people in the areas being affected, saying it's not that bad, you still complain like they don't know what they want? So you can speak for them but we can't? Are you sure you're a US citizen? Have you read the US constitution?

"Use your logic, not your misplaced feelings."

I think I'll stick with my own sense of reason rather than yours.

      • A.M.

I spoke. I'm actually living it. You downplayed that as well. In my opinion, if you don't want to hear it, you'll just find something else to complain about. You're just a lost cause, my friend.

        • objectivefactsmatter

"I spoke. I'm actually living it. You downplayed that as well. "

I have no problem with you speaking, but you attack us for objecting to the situation. You should realize your rights don't exceed the rights of others. Your first statement was "Everyone here clearly is trying to find a way to hate the president." As if we find things to complain about after making up our minds. This is just baseless way to deny how exceptionally bad he is. So let me be more clear, that you are simply looking for a way to deny our legitimate complaints by blaming it on irrational feelings. If this was the only complaint. nobody would care. There might even be a legitimate reason for such decisions, but at this point I have zero reason to trust him.

"In my opinion, if you don't want to hear it, you'll just find something else to complain about. "

There's plenty to choose from. Don't worry about that.

        • laura lyons

You miss the point completely. Have you forgotten that convicted criminals have more rights than our military? If the government were to deny child rapists a hot breakfast you liberal Obama lovers would be all over that. But to deny soldiers a hot breakfast and it is considered a sound financial decision. It is a shame that you are supporting this administration. How do you feel about the reduced medical benefits that our veterans are having shoved on them? Again, you liberal Obama lovers would freak out about all kinds of human rights violations should a convicted child rapist be denied free health care. Active duty soldiers are government property, just like convicted criminals, only liberals don't care as much for our defenders of freedom as you do convicted child rapists or trees. I am a veteran myself and I would NOT advise anyone to join our military under Obama. He has shamed this nation. Also, I find it very interesting that you feel your breakfast money is better spent on extravagant parties and vacations by the Obama's. I think it speaks very loudly of your character that you are complacent enough to make that sacrifice for the man who does not give a crap about our military men and women. The same one who watched the embassy attacks in live action and told troops to stand down. I am also willing to bet that you are one of the soldiers that would actually shoot American citizens if ordered to, because obama is a great president. You are truly ate up with your president.

  • Captain Falcon

However, it is a violation of rights and shouldn't be happening, but Republicans are going a little extreme with this.

  • Ghostwriter

Well,President Obama does have a LOT of disdain for the U.S. Military. It sure SOUNDS like something he would do.

    • Donkeypunch

Really? Why don't you ask the troops if they'd rather stay in Afghanistan for a few more tours instead of coming back to be with their families. Obama is supporting the troops by bringing them home.

    • GhostBUSTER

Ghostwriter, if you don't have anything intelligent to say, why don't you keep your trap shut before everyone knows how stupid you are?

  • Keith

When I was in Afghanistan, we had work to do. We didn't have time to worry with a hot meal, three times a day. We were never short of MREs, and I stayed so busy that the days flew by. On days when I decided to hit up the chow hall I didn't see a large turn-out for breakfast, not like dinner. Lunch was always disappointing, so I liked to eat an MRE and get back to work.
That being said, I think those guys deserve the opportunity to have a hot meal, three times a day. I can't believe that was ever an option. Can't they focus on cutting back somewhere else? Next, they'll be asking the Air Force to clean their own barracks. Geez.

  • Mary Sue

Obama's eating lobster and all sorts of fancy schmancy fruity s***, man we should bust down the White House kitchen to sub-gourmet standards. Learn to love Swiss Steak, Mr. President. Meatloaf. Hamburger Helper.

"Obama's eating lobster and all sorts of fancy schmancy fruity s***, man we should bust down the White House kitchen to sub-gourmet standards. Learn to love Swiss Steak, Mr. President. Meatloaf. Hamburger Helper."

Agreed. Regardless of anything else, the president should at the very least under these circumstances try to model responsible behavior. It's like he wants his constituents to think there is nothing wrong with spending all of this money because he'll just get more from "rich people" to pay for it. If they slow down the spending, that will take pressure off of those "rich thieves." They're egging him on, eating welfare cheese (something I heard about, not sure if it's true) and loving that he wastes so much money even on himself.

      Sigh…

  • Gold Bricker
  • Linda

My son-in-law ate MRE's a lot. He also had hot food if he was not out in the "field". I hope and pray our troops are not being short cut in anyway. They need to eat properly that they can think when faced with decisions. Pray for our troops.

  • Hiram Miggs

Obama hates the military almost as much as he hates Israel. What can you expect from a Communist Muslim?

  • Zeph

    http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/breakfast

I’m surprised none of you have read this yet.

    • Mary Sue

um, did you even read the article? Obama's replacing hot breakfast with MRE's, which is what Snopes and this article both agree on.

  • Perilo

The article says the military decided to cut breakfast because of the upcoming cuts.. Sounds like the same higher ups who ask "are you army or marines?" to soldiers under fire who needed help and then decided it wasn't worth it. The group of guys fought their way out and one got a congressional medal of honor. It's amazing how the cuts get thrown on the little guy and not to the contract of somebody researching a gun well never use in war

  • John Stone

It could be that it is worse under Obama than before, but a nasty little secret is that the political class does often jerk around on the troops. I could get into historic examples, but I will pass. The relatively good post WWII treatment was the exception, not the rule. Usually the citizens are better than the political class and if it becomes a political issue there will be at least a semi correction.

  • Mike

I had no more than 20-30 hot meals for an entire year during the first gulf war. Nevertheless I think it's despicable what's going on here. Especially with facilities to prepare the meals.
Like someone else said, "America gets what they voted for".
But hey, it's more important to keep feeding illegal aliens.

  • Phil McMorrow

What an outrageous action by a complete fool! Guess who never stood guard duty in the freezing cold on a dark night? BHO, that’s who. He couldn’t care less about the welfare of the volunteer troops he is ultimately responsible for. Even Colin Powell would be opposed to this.

  • mcmorrowpc

Didn't Marie Antoinette cause a stir with here remark of "let them eat cake"? Let the troops eat MRE's for breakfast. John McCain, where are you?

  • Mike

I hate to tell all of you so called ex military members, u didnt read your contract very well did you? The military is only required to provide 1 hot meal per day. That is in the contract that everybody signs before they go to boot camp.

  • ray johnson

cut all polititions pay by 100.00 and give the militery 4 hot meals day

  • Jana

Taking away a hot meal, whether it’s in any contract or not, when soldiers are serving their country for you & me, on the front lines —- is totally unfeeling & it makes me sick & ashamed of this country!!!! I personally support 271 troops that I shop for every single month. I will be amending their boxes to include more breakfast items – they do already get instant oatmeal & coffee/tea/Cliff bars. Glad I found out about this. Mr. O – you suck. If someone took away his comfy breakfast & made him carry, oh say 80 lbs. on his back every day in the horrid heat/terrible cold; I am Soooo sure he would not complain!!!!! Yea, not one little peep would be heard – NOT!

Obama's sense of economics matches that of many other leaders current in western civilization: lots of ideology & politics and not much else. Meanwhile, reality is having its way with us all. Please take time to read this very well-researched paper discussing our economic future entitled "The Perfect Storm Report. The report was prepared by Dr. Tim Morgan, chief economist at Tullett Prebon, a London money-handling firm. The report is a compelling view of where we are, how we got here, and what's just ahead: http://tullettprebonresearch.com/2013/01/21/perfe

Obaminoids defend their president completely. H e is perfect. He can do no wrong. You worship him as a god. Wait till he starts the draft and forces you into the service–what a laugh that will be!! But you know, hes abig believer in "Public Service". He has helped set the Mideast on fire with more wars and new recruits will be needed–thats why women and fairies are OK now. Go ahead and worship him, and enjoy your "future".

Colin Bowel looks like he's offering to give Zero a BJ.

  • Lorenz

LOL, maybe he is doing that because the first thing you smell in the A.M. dinning facility is “Bacon”? We can’t have that in Afghanistan now, can we? After all, are we to continue offending the natives via our cooking odor? (Rhetorical questions :) ) I really love this country, it was the best part of the world once, but it has become so divisive over the past few years that I am beginning to worry about its future big time. As far as the military, it was my life for over 20+ years, and it changed after I left it. I am continuously being reminded how much better it is today, but still can’t grasp it. Nothing should be cut from the military, especially when it comes to their health and welfare. Good leaders would know that, maybe someone should send President Obama to Ft Benning for some training on how to actually lead.

One of my employees has a step son that gets government handouts. He fathered three children out of wedlock, so his (now) wife gets welfare for HIS KIDS! He works about 6-7 months each year, then finds a way to get fired so he can draw unemployment for as long as he can. I offered him a job two years ago and he would not even come in and talk to me. So guess what, this slug voted for “Free healthcare” by keeping the arab poser in office another 4 years. His step dad raked him over the coals, “You get free health care because I pay for it!” That has the same effect on him as water on a duck’s back. Keeping the welfare payments is much more important than feeding people in harms way 2-hots per day. Its in the democrap’s best interest to keep them fat, dumb, happy and pulling the right vote leaver.
