Obama Inc. Spent $65 Mil on Egypt’s “Democratic Transition”

That was money well spent. Good thing we print our own money so it doesn’t really matter how much we spend on every stupid idea that gets Blackberried across D.C.

Soon after Egypt’s revolution, the United States provided $65 million for programs to support the democratic transition. U.S.-supported democratic transition projects are being implemented in a spirit of partnership. As such, we are focused on the immediate priorities that Egyptians have identified: holding free and fair elections, empowering citizens to play a role in their country’s future, protecting and expanding universal rights, expanding independent civil society, and building democratic institutions that are transparent and accountable. Our projects build on the energy, commitment, and accomplishments of the Egyptian people.

That money would have apparently been better invested in promoting mob rule. Egypt doesn’t really do democracy. It does non-stop protests for political change. Followed by more protests when the change happens. And then protests against the change that was the change.

I have never seen a US president get such a low rate of return on taxpayer dollars.

He’s hardly a good steward of our hard-earned money.

    • objectivefactsmatter

      Excellent understatement.

  • Gee

No money for White House tours. No money for troops in Afghanistan to have hot meals. Cutting the military by 80,000. Unemployment going up. Yet billions for dictatorships and terrorists. Over $100 million for an African vacation.

Sure tells us where his values are

But everything that you view negatively is beyond the 0’s control. It’s Bush and the Republicans that wrecked our lives.

      • pfbonney

I can’t help but wonder if the Democrats will tolerate the next Republican president if he were to blame Bush for the same things that the Democrats have been blaming him for.

The Democratic Party really started to become unhinged when Clinton was criticized for his little peccadilloes. We just didn’t notice it as much until Gore tried to play the martyr after he lost the POTUS election.

Then the plans started to really ferment and they began their open rebellion as soon as they had a plausible excuse: “The war.”

It’s just that now they have 0’Bama with what amounts to the political equivalence of Teflon skin. It makes Barry arrogant of course, but really the only difference between the big zero and the others is what the zero can get away with.

We are in for a long culture war. I almost think we have to endure a crash that makes it clear the Democrats never had a feasible plan. If we talk them out of running off of a cliff, they’ll still be convinced we “stole” from them. They need to go off the cliff and suffer the way the other communists did to learn what Utopia really means when these lunatics are running things.

“I almost think we have to endure a crash that makes it clear the Democrats never had a feasible plan.”

Actually, I pretty much agree. It will make it obvious to everyone except the hard left, who don’t know the meaning of the word “failure,” at least when it comes to economic ideas.

For example, during the Great Depression, Roosevelt tried to get the economy running again (on “Keynesian” economic theory) “… by spending more than we have ever spent before and it just doesn’t work … I say after eight years of this administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started…. And an enormous debt to boot,” – Roosevelt’s Secretary of the Treasury, Henry Morganthau, quoted in Burton Folsom, Jr., “New Deal or Raw Deal? How FDR’s Legacy Has Damaged America (New York: The Macmillan Company, 1952), p29.

Yet the left still says the reason FDR’s policies failed is because as much as he spent, he STILL didn’t spend enough.

And even after having proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that supply side economics not only works, but that it was capable of pulling us out of the worst recession since the Great Depression, leftists, like Obama, wont touch it because Obama’s (Keynesian) economics is (are?) fairer, as he has said.

But, I agree, particularly since we, on the right, now have a voice in the media, such a crash would prove to be informative to all but the communists. Who want to see capitalism, and America, fail, anyway.

The money never should have been spent, it is American money
being misused after being scammed from the taxpayers who are
broke financially gratis the U. S. Government. Democrats and
Rhinos have turned U. S. into Under Slavery…………William

You’re right. Since the purpose of a government (which, as I see it, is similar to a credit union) is to act on behalf of the taxpayers, and not write any checks that the taxpayer wouldn’t write. To the maximum extent possible, in a country as large and diverse as ours. (A constituent of Rep. Ron Paul’s former district, this is where I am more libertarian than Republican.)
