Apparently Obama is unaware that Israel has signed a bunch of these agreements already and they haven’t been worth the paper that they were written on.
It’s not easy to have your kids sleeping in bed and then boom a rocket comes through the roof. But my argument is that even though both sides may have areas of strong disagreement, may be engaging in activities that the other side considers to be a breach of good trust, good faith, we have to push through those things to try to get to an agreement because if we get an agreement then it will be very clear what the nature of that agreement is, there will be a sovereign Palestinian state and a sovereign Jewish State of Israel and those two states I think will be able to deal with each other the same way that all states do.
I mean you know the United States and Canada has arguments once in a while but they’re not in the nature of arguments that can’t be solved diplomatically.
Not only does Obama appear to equate Israel constructing houses with the Palestinian Authority but he also appears to have no answer for why his magic proposal of SIGNING AN AGREEMENT has not worked any of the previous times that it was tried.
The problem here is not a failure to negotiate peace, it’s a failure of actual peace. The Palestinian Authority is not interested in peace. If they were, then they would not be teaching children to become suicide bombers. The only reason to do that is if you expect the war to go on endlessly. The Palestinian Authority will sign agreements, but not end the violence.
Obama either doesn’t know that or refuses to deal with it.
Canada has not turned its educational system into a hate machine teaching its children that their goal in life is to kill Americans. If it had then no peace would be possible regardless of how many agreements were signed.
