Obama Lost Afghanistan… and the Lives of 1,575 American Soldiers

As we commemorate the anniversary of the September 11 attacks, we should also remember that Obama came into office, pledging like Kerry before him, to refocus the war on Afghanistan.

He failed miserably.

His Afghanistan surge ended up costing countless American lives as soldiers were sent into battle with their hands tied behind their backs to avoid offending Muslims and win their “hearts and minds”.

73 percent of all U.S. Afghan War casualties have occurred since Jan. 20, 2009 when Obama was inaugurated.

In total, 2,144 U.S. military personnel have given their lives fighting in and around Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

1,575 of the U.S. military personnel who have sacrificed their lives in this cause were killed during the presidency of Barack Obama.

That means 73 percent of the casualties in the Afghan War have happened on Barack Obama’s watch.

73 percent of American casualties in Afghanistan happened under Obama’s watch. His plan for Afghanistan failed forcing him to resort to negotiations with the Taliban mediated by the Muslim Brotherhood.

As Obama prepares to dive into yet another war, perhaps someone should tell him, what he told McCain, that he needs to focus on winning the war that he’s already in.

And the best way to do that is to give American soldiers the leeway and resources they need to win.

I doubt that Obama cares about our military being able to win a war. The lives lost probably mean less to him than getting approval from the Muslim Brotherhood.

I think Barry (over the last 5 yrs) realizes how many people have lied to him about our country that he is ashamed. The sad part is he does not know what to do because he is just not that bright.
No thinking human being in the office he holds could possibly blind himself to reality for that long. Therefore, Barry is either evil, or inept.
      You make the call.

The photo of Obama in the tank is obviously a takeoff of former presidential candidate Michael Dukakis’s pose that caused him so much ridicule. The late Jerry Williams, a Boston radio talk show host, and one of the pioneers of that genre, ran a contest to come up with a caption. The winning caption was “Sergeant Dork.”

I see that we have entered shark infested waters. Obama wants to help out the MB but his hands
are ties. Aw to bad! The video
    interview with Bashar al-Assad gives
very good indication of who a lot of the players are and what they want. I don’t think that Obama cares at all for any
of our men in arms. Remember they are
infidels according to isham. It doesn’t matter
how many die. But there will be a price
to pay for all the blood of the American soldiers that gave their lives because
of the incompetent of this administration, If not in this world the next for
sure. No one will be exempt when the
Lord Jesus Christ judges this world. The resolve of the American people is rock
solid. The foundation of our constitution
bears the absolute that makes up our life blood and what we stand for. In the same way that Jesus Christ gave his
life freely for our salvation, our Men in arms give of themselves for our
    freedom on earth.

    Praise the LORD,
    Thank you Men in arms

A bit strange that you only count the Americans killed in this war…
How many Afghan people did you Americans kill? You don’t know? You don’t care?

Look, nobody asked you to come to Afghanistan, as well as many other places.
Secondly, those killed knew they were going to war, and they made their free choice.
Thirdly, every invador deserves to be killed, Americans are no exempt.

And finally, no one has been able to conquer the Afghan people. They did not tolerate the British colonialists in the 19th century; the Soviet Union had spent nearly 10 years at war in this country and was forced to leave.

Now it’s your turn Americans, you learned nothing from history.
Didn’t you know that Afghanistan is known as “the graveyard of empires”? So burry your imperial ambitions and go home, do some clean up in your own country.

My impression is we went to Afghanistan looking for Bin Laden. Then, we realized that the Taliban was trying to propel the country back to the 8th Century. Their treatment of women, in particular, was and is, atrocious. Our efforts were immediately rewarded by a resounding defeat of the Taliban. However, we began “nation building,” something an army is not trained to do and we set ourselves up as targets for a resurgent Taliban and a corrupt government. I agree that Afghanistan is unconquerable and the best thing we can do is leave the savages to their own devices. We can’t be policeman to the world.

I hate Obama and his administration with a passion, but this article is disingenuous. Yes, since 2008 Obama has done absolutely nothing to enhance a non-corrupt government in Afghanistan, and yes he tied the hands of those serving during that time as well, but the reason 73% of American troops have been killed during his tenure could be that we had a much smaller footprint there after the start of the Iraq war. We relied heavily on the other ISAF members during that time, Canada among them to hold the fort, and they did what they could.

I remember many of us had hoped the Iraq invasion could be held off for 2 years or so to strengthen our position in Afghanistan, but things don’t usually work out that way.
