Obama Picks Welfare over Seniors, Will Cut Medicare, But Not Medicaid

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam. He is completing a book on the international challenges America faces in the 21st century.

Now that Obama has won his final election, he has begun showing his true face. And that includes prioritizing his welfare base over America’s seniors.

The White House is willing to make bigger Medicare cuts in order to protect Medicaid, senior economic adviser Gene Sperling said Thursday. Sperling said the White House is no longer willing to make even the Medicaid cuts it had previously supported, but acknowledged that puts more pressure on Medicare.

“We are not willing to accept even the Medicaid savings that we had once put on the table … Medicaid savings, Medicaid cuts, for this administration, are not on the table,” Sperling said at a conference organized by the advocacy group Families USA.

Medicaid has long been seen as an easier political target than Medicare, because Medicare serves older Americans. Although congressional Republicans support dramatic cuts in Medicare benefits, the party has also hammered President Obama for reducing payments to doctors and insurance companies by roughly $716 billion.
But the administration has decided to accept a fight over Medicare in order to protect Medicaid, Sperling said.

“It means we’re going to have to look harder for Medicare savings, and those savings may be more difficult politically because of he choices we’ve made,” Sperling said. “If you decide you are going to protect Medicaid more, it means you’re going to have to make some tough choices in other places.”

Let’s translate that into English. Death panels, yes. Chicago voters getting a job, no.

That's another one, that he's told a bald faced lie about!

  • Marylou

    "Welfare over seniors."
And illegal aliens over people who have paid into the program all their working lives. Wish I could say I am surprised.

    • JacksonPearson

Obama's never had his priorities straight. His thought process is ass-backwards.

“Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him, better take a closer look at the American Indian.” –Henry Ford.

      • Reason_For_Life

Senior citizens voted against Obama. That means that they are now expendable.

        • JacksonPearson

That's correct. The RATS didn't include "Death Panels" in the Health Care Bill for nothing. IMO, they have a plan of slow, but mass extermination of the elderly, and nobody will be the wiser. Obama started off by taking $750Bil right off the top of Medicare.

This is Obama's way of saying "Oh just hurry up and die already"

    Aren't most seniors White?

    • Ron

Yes, especially if they are from Chicage where blacks are killing each other while our black president is trying to disarm white america

Gang warfare over turf and commercial sales of contraband are merely a training occasion. The survivors will be some seriously dangerous Obama supporters who blame old White people for every inconvenience and slight. The Obama fraternal gangs (civilian force stronger than the military) are the ultimate users of the munitions transported during "Grenade Walker" (sponsored by the ATF/DoJ and the Obama White House).

I tried and tried to tell my fellow seniors (and my fellow Jews) but they wouldn't listen.

    • Reason_For_Life

Jews have the highest IQs and the worst judgment of any identifiable group. Rabbi Daniel Lapin's "America's Real War" describes the strange and self destructive affinity that Jews have for progressive ideas. It's out of print now but you can still find used copies.

Anything that you pay into gives you entitlement to benefit from, if the Government receives
money from taxpayers it holds that money in trust for the purposes it was collected for and
to put the money elsewhere is a clear violation of public trust. Obama is in a game of
robbing Peter to pay Abdulah………………………..There should be no government pulling
the rug out from under seniors for political gain and buying votes with seniors money. A
purely soulless and craven individual Mullah Obamus……..how far away from impeachment?
    William

    • kgkeefer

You may feel morally entitled to a benefit, but you have no legal property right to any particular benefit. What you paid were TAXES, what you get is what Congress says you get.

Baby boomers have been screwed by the "greatest generation" and Gen X/Y/Z are not "with the program" to become slaves to people who have set themselves up to be the last paid in the biggest Ponzi scheme ever.

Census reports of 2010 show that 2.6 million people live in Brooklyn, but as a born resident it is plain to see that those figures are grossly underestimated. The real count is closer to ten million; most are visa jumpers, assorted illegals and human debris. These refugees are happy to be in America even if they are treated as canned sardines and packed into filthy apartments and converted garages. The more fortunate are employed in fruit/fish markets and paid in left over rot which is later traded for living space. It will take many decades until these 10 million cellar dwellers come out of Brooklyn’s shadows and get some sunlight.

I agree, but Paul Ryan didn't explain himself on medicare. Seniors pay a lot of pocket cost, the doughnut hole. Obama favors medicaid since minorites-Hispanics who some Repubicans are tyring to court are younger and under medicaid.

    • Neils60

On the contrary, Ryan explained himself clearly on Medicare, as did Romney. But, you weren't listening. And, to those who closely monitored the news, especially the Fox News/Business Channels, and the major radio talk programs, (Beck, Hannity, Levin, Savage, Limbaugh) prior to the election, there's absolutely no new information in this story.

Will we have to pay for the senior Medicare pill?

  • Ruby Woof

The republicans do not want to tell the American people that gave Amgen 500 million dollars worth of "Medicare Entitlements" for their usage of kidney dialysis drugs as part of their fiscal cliff compromise, but they are telling American we need to make dramatic cuts to Medicare cuts to reduce its costs. Corporate America got a 500 million dollar welfare check from Medicare entitlements from the Republican Party. While drs., hospitals and senior will have their Medicare entitlements cut dramatically from the Republican right. if they get what they demanding.
