ObamaCare Doubles Premiums for Young Women

Sandra-Fluke-screenshot

Because it’s not really about Sandra Fluke’s birth control. It’s about funding another expansion of the welfare state. It’s a tax hike looped through private companies. It’s wealth redistribution through the back door with a government mandate.

The vast majority of the population will be screwed by ObamaCare. A small number of people with medical problems who have jobs will benefit, but it would have been far easier and cheaper to pay to cover them. This is still about the Government Class and its insatiable welfare lust.

War on Women? The young women targeted for this in ads don’t benefit from it.

Healthy young women will see their premiums rise by an average of almost 200 percent under Obamacare, with increases occurring in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, according to a new study.

Earlier this month, the American Action Forum released an analysis that found the average 30-year-old male nonsmoker would see his premiums rise 260 percent.

Using the same metrics, the organization found that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) would be just as harsh on women trying to purchase bronze level plans, the cheapest insurance available in the marketplace.

Overall, states averaged a 193 percent increase in premiums for 30-year-old female nonsmokers.

For example, a woman earning $31,597.50 would receive a 23 percent subsidy, totaling $653. However, her yearly premium would still be $2,186, compared to the $218.47 penalty she would incur in 2014 for not having insurance.

Welcome to ObamaCare. You’re doing your part to subsidize an unsustainable welfare state.

  • unionville

I’m really looking forward to seeing what my premium is going to be this year. That is if I survive the cutbacks in labor my company is having to make in order to financially prepare themselves for the ACA.

  • DogmaelJones1

Obama: “If you like your policy, you can keep it.” Tell you what, Barack, you can keep what you’re offering. I’ll go without insurance. Obamacare is a Grade A scam.

    • objectivefactsmatter

If that promise wasn’t considered important to keep, how can anything he ever says be trusted?

      • DogmaelJones1

The only thing he ever says that you can trust is it’s a lie. Cats will live with dogs, and rattlers can be taught to play fetch, the day he ever tells a truth.

    Welcome to Obama Care:

  • Randy CA

I don’t get it — why would any healthy person buy health insurance with the new law that covers pre-existing conditions. Why not just wait till something bad happens and then get insurance?

Is there something I am missing?

    • unionville

It’s one of the two idiocies of Obamacare. Disallowing pre-existing conditions, which allows people to pay the cheaper fine and wait to buy insurance until they get sick. The other is allowing “kids” to remain on their parents insurance until they’re 26. In order for the ACA to work, they need the healthy young to buy insurance to fund the not so healthy older population.

Obamacare is as brilliant as the man it is named for.

      • alericKong

The idea of universal coverage for the 30 million uninsured sounds good on the campaign trail. It’s horrible in the real world. I’m quickly seeing doctors master the “What the hell are you doing here?” expression for healthy patients.

Even if you do have insurance, you get so sick you are admitted to the hospital. You can’t work, you loose your job, you can’t pay for the premium and you end up in the basement not getting well but just maintaining your condition.

People need to get healthy on their own. Paying for their junk food, and subsidizing broken homes and drug addiction won’t do it. Suing every medical practitioner out of business doesn’t help either.

      • Naresh Krishnamoorti

Plus, the Obamacare fine does not have to be paid, since the IRS has no means to collect it. The only thing they can do is to deduct the amount from any refund due to you. Structure your estimated tax payments wisely, and you won’t have to pay any Obamacare fine.

it is about controlling you through watching you with this and other routines of information gathering..welcome to the police state.

        • Karen

Welcome to the very soon New World Order. It’s coming! The Bible speaks about this in the book of Revelation. President Obama has been working on it. It is soon to emerge.

    • objectivefactsmatter

Sort of, but I’m not sure it’s worth explaining. If you sign up for a new policy, you get covered for care going forward but not for expenses incurred before you sign up. So you’re partly correct but it’s not necessarily smart to wait till you need it. But you could get a cheap policy and then get an upgrade when you need it, or something like that,

So yes there are games you can play. Moral hazard is almost gone.

      • A Z

Moral hazard is real. I hear conservative and libertarian pundits talk about it. I first heard the term reading the Wall Street Journal 15 years ago or more. The level of honesty in our culture is that if a blogger wrote about moral hazard having read from other sources, Obama and other liberals and simply say “You shouldn’t listen to the blogosphere. They are making things worse”.

Politicians and psychologists should talk about it.

Intellectually pundits can think through the ways of human psychology and see that moral hazard is real. What we need is people to relate it to game theory and psychology. We could “wargame” various policies on computer to show that they will lead to ruin.

It needs to be done so people know better than to elect Santa Claus politicians.

        • objectivefactsmatter

“We could “wargame” various policies on computer to show that they will lead to ruin.”

That’s an excellent idea. We need to keep thinking about how to go about creating some kind of challenge. It has to be very realistic…let’s keep thinking about how to do that.

          • A Z

I meant it. Instead of tank or units of soldiers, you have people with varying degrees of honesty, work ethic and historiograhpies.

If you can model human behavior and have enough computer power than you could take a model city with 10,000 or 100,000 “actors” and get results to show how many people will work in the underground economy, how many people will be on welfare, how many corrupt contracts etc.

Not every supercomputer needs to be devoted to how stars evolve or other astrophysics problems.

If we do not have a civilization, it does not matter what stars do.

The Department of defense wargamed what economic warfare with China would look like. I think there are stories on it.

          • objectivefactsmatter

            “I meant it.”

I know, and it’s brilliant. We have to keep looking for ways to promote this idea. Keep at it.

            Seriously.

    • janhalt

? “Liberal logic” in its finest hour.

    • Karen

If she waits until something bad happens she may be fined in the mean time.

  • Dan

So … if OBamaCare is SOOOOOOO Great …. why do they need subsidies?

    • Gee

If it so great, then why isn’t Odumba and company on it? Or Congress, or government employees?

      • Catherine Martin

The Congress has to go on it in 2014! THAT’S why they’re kicking up a fuss~

  • Mickey O’Brien

    She’s Fluked.

    • A Z

She doesn’t know it yet. She still thinks she is sitting pretty. Having carried water for the party and having a law degree, she thinks she has earned a place among the apparatchiks at the least and maybe a seat at the table (house representative, working for a cabinet secretary or a significant NGO).

  • jpohl

Gotta pay for birth control pills somehow…Don’t the Democrats know that the ACA is the “law of the land”. They just told everybody it cannot be delayed. Just wait till you see the doctor waiting rooms in a few years. THe http://ObamaCareACA.com web site explains some pretty grim outlooks for the future.

  • aunti obama

Now we know who has the war against women…Hmmm

    • Anonymous

      What war?

The Democrats have no war against women. They have done been subjugated. They are serfs now.

These fees and premiums the government is mandating is no different than a company town taking with one hand what the company paid you with the other hand.

This is just the serf paying for their own upkeep and getting most everything taken from them in taxes and fees so they can build no capital up, start a business and get uppity.

There is only room in the Hamptons and Marthas Vinyard for so many people. The door is shut.

  • d schubach

Does anyone know, if you get a subsidy, are you still responsible for the deductible? I understand the deductibles are pretty steep.

    • objectivefactsmatter

As far as I know the subsidy is only for the premium payments.

      • d schubach

That’s my understanding as well. It seems to me, why would anyone buy insurance when you have to pay for your regular doctor visits anyway, and if you get sick, you can just buy it then?

        • janhalt

          Ask Obama…

        • objectivefactsmatter

“That’s my understanding as well. It seems to me, why would anyone buy insurance when you have to pay for your regular doctor visits anyway, and if you get sick, you can just buy it then?”

The other unknown is waiting period. I very much doubt that you can buy insurance and make a claim the same day but then again I doubted America would ever have this socialist Trojan horse.

The pre-existing condition won’t hurt you when the policy is valid, but that doesn’t mean there is no waiting period.

Let’s say you break a bone. You go to get medical services without insurance and they perform first-aid. You must pay for that. You can apply for insurance that day, and since you can’t be denied based on pre-existing conditions, the insurance will cover all future expenses related to any prior events but not actual expenses from the period before coverage starts. You must wait for the policy to go in to effect and then it will pay for all expenses going forward even though you are “sick” due to something that happened before you applied for the policy.

If you need surgery on that bone, you might find yourself debating how long you can wait for that coverage or whether you should go ahead and pay out of pocket.

It’s possible that under 0′Bamacare there is only a very short waiting period or no waiting period at all. I just don’t know because I didn’t research those details.

          • d schubach

I was thinking more about a diagnosis of cancer or something like that. Wasn’t thinking about accidents and that is a consideration. But if you have an accident and go to the emergency room, they have to treat you. I’m not saying not having insurance is a good idea, I’m just saying if you’re young and never had insurance, I don’t see why you’d run out and buy it now.

          • objectivefactsmatter

But your questions are absolutely valid and point to the weaknesses of these policies. I’m just trying to add examples where there is still some risk. But your points are very valuable because in the end it does make sense fiscally for most people to defer purchasing insurance until they need it. It’s cheaper to pay for first aid as needed than it is to pay the premiums.

The only real loser would be someone who got in to a sudden tragic situation with a life-changing car accident or something where he did not have anyone culpable to sue for payment.

But this kind of leads to another point that 0′Bamacare doesn’t have nearly the kind of flexibility that one finds in a free market. It’s just bad all around, and wasteful, and is more about growing government sovereignty for the sake of power and for the sake of income redistribution to keep the Ponzi scheme going while that power is still building.

  • Dallas25305

Your Obozo Care is crap. What do you expect when it’s forced on you by
an arrogant, racist pig like Hussein Obama an absolute moron who has
never had a real job in his life and doesn’t know anything but
destruction. Yet he has been running the entire government for the last
5 years by Executive Orders. He has surrounded himself, marxist
lunatics, black power racist , like Holder and himself, anti free
enterprise socialist and every type of left wing freak he can find.
None of them who have a clue about running anything except the lying
mouths. He has created more debt than every other President in history
since Washington combined. There 11 million fewer people working, half
the country is on some sort of government welfare and the once
powerhouse U.S. military is on the verge of collapse. The Liberal
Socialist lying media is still telling you he is great. That is what
happens when you have Marxist running your universities since the
1970′s. Things are going to get a lot worse. Why? The arrogant
racist pig Hussein Obama wants it too. For Marxism to grow you must
    destroy what was their before.

  • EVILHASWONAGAIN

Women can turn tricks to pay for obamacare….

  • Karen

This really doesn’t surprise me one bit. We are headed right into the New World Order. It is slowly emerging. The Bible spoke about this in the book of Revelation years ago. People wake up! Terrible times are coming. Repent of your sins and ask Jesus into your heart. When Jesus returns very soon, you will go with all of us to heaven. Otherwise you will be left behind to face the worst time in history to live. Read the book of Revelation to be informed of what’s coming. If you have never believed that the Bible was a true book, now is the time to believe. Ezekiel 38 outlines the entire upcoming war with Israel and the nations. Everything in our world that is happening now is in Matthew 24. Wake up before it’s too late! Jesus could return at any moment. You see what’s happening right before your eyes. The economy is going to collapse which will usher in the NWO. There’s only one way to escape it. That is to go with Jesus when He comes in the clouds to gather up His followers.
