Obama’s Pacific Pivot Going Swimmingly as Chinese Warships Approach Japan

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam. He is completing a book on the international challenges America faces in the 21st century.

Barack Obama, Hu Jintao

Obama claimed to be pivoting away from something or other (perhaps Afghanistan) over to Asia. So far this ballet move has not impressed anyone. And by anyone, I mean China, which owns the mortgage on Obama.

A Chinese naval fleet was Sunday spotted sailing for the first time through an international strait between northern Japan and Russia’s far east, the Japanese defence ministry said.

The two missile destroyers, two frigates and a supply ship passed through the Soya Strait from the Sea of Japan to the Sea of Okhotsk early Sunday, the ministry said.

On Saturday a fleet of 16 Russian naval ships was seen moving through the Soya Strait into the Sea of Okhotsk, the ministry said.

China and Russia held the joint naval exercises — their second such drill — amid regional concerns about China’s growing maritime power.

Tensions have been growing over China’s island disputes with Japan and other neighbours.

Chinese government surveillance ships have frequently approached the Tokyo-controlled Senkaku islands in the East China Sea, which are also claimed by China as the Diaoyus, since Japan nationalised some of them last September.

China is calling this a confrontation exercise.

The Chinese naval taskforce to participate in the China-Russia “Joint Sea-2013″ joint naval drill conducted confrontation training in complex electromagnetic environment in a sea area of the Sea of Japan on July 3, 2013.

The taskforce encountered heavy fog and adverse sea conditions on the way after they left the naval port in east China’s coastal city of Qingdao July 1, 2013 for Russia to participate in the China-Russia joint drills, so they conducted this confrontation training in the complex environment to consolidate their pre-training effect and improve the overall level of training.

If Japan is looking to the US to balance those odds out… good luck. We’re all out of everything except soft power and gay marriage training in the military.

Greenfield is the reason for Chinese belligerence. According to leftists.

Or perhaps Greenfield will be responsible when free people resist the communists.

Japan is America’s greatest ally. We just don’t know it.

Given what’s been happening in Eurabia, I’d have to agree about that right now.

It is clear that the whole Sino-Soviet split is gone. Russia and China have been friends for a while now, building up their armies. Not a good sign. What we need to do is to start making our own resources here at our homeland instead of having most of our resources coming from China. All China has to do to cause damage to us is by nationalizing all of their products we by from them. If that happens, they could starve us out and it could collapse our economy. Plus when we buy their products from them, they use our money to build their military. So were basically selling them the rope that they will hang us with one day.

America doesn’t need China’s third rate crap. If America were to boycott Chinese goods(more like bads,) China would collapse into regional fiefdoms.
