Say what you will, but I'm glad Obama won, not because I support him—far from it as a matter of fact—but because things needed to come to a head. If Romney were in charge, chances are in that a few months Congress would pass a repeal of Obamacare and he would sign it, and that would be that—a quick and relatively painless death. As things stand, because Obama is too arrogant to give up on his "signature achievement", Obamacare will fester until the contagion has spread to every aspect of "progressive" big government and all who support it. The result will be a political war of attrition that Democrats are bound to lose, giving us a chance to elect a real conservative—Ted Cruz or someone comparable—rather than a quasi-conservative like Mitt Romney.

Is this view of things too optimistic? Perhaps, but I like to thing good triumphs over evil at the end.

I hate to sound pessimistic, but to me the outstanding fact here is that Obama's numbers are still as high as they are. 2/3 of nonwhites still support the guy? The under-$50,000 crowd still favors him by three points? After the ACA disaster and the IRS scandal? It doesn't matter if these people don't read the news or don't care - they're too stupid to be allowed to vote, and when they do, it's going to be for the guy with the "D" after his name.

The one good thing about these numbers is that they may mean we haven't quite reached the tipping point of one-party Democratic rule yet, and we may still be able to beat them - if we do everything exactly right. In a better world, 60% of the public would be calling for Obama's impeachment.
