Oppressed Muslim Bomber Got $5,566 in Financial Aid

Tamerlan Tsarnaev has no choice but to turn terrorist because we gave him less than six grand, reads tomorrow’s New York Times story. It will be subtitled, “Broken Dreams of Community College” or “A $5,566 Raisin in the Sun”.

Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev was awarded $5,566 in educational aid to attended two different community colleges, the state education department announced today.

From fall 2006 to fall 2007, Tamerlan Tsarnaev received:

o   A total of $2,532 in Federal Pell Grant funds to attend Bunker Hill Community College.

o   A total of $1,100 in Cash (ACCESS) Grants funds to attend Bunker Hill Community College.

o   A total of $288 in Tuition Waivers to attend Bunker Hill Community College.

o   A total of $400 in Part-Time Grants to attend Bunker Hill Community College.

· In spring 2008, Tamerlan Tsarnaev received:

o   $1,000 in Federal College Work Study funds while attending Mass Bay Community College.

o   $246 in Federal Pell Grant funds to attend Mass Bay Community College.

If only we had given him more. The billions we spend on jet planes could have bought him 100 yachts. That 5 million dollar drone could have bought Tamerlan 300,000 copies of Erica Jong’s Fear of Flying. The 9 million that Obama cut from the Office for Bombing Prevention could have bought him a mansion with a swimming pool full of Perrier that surely would have ended his resentment against America.

And then we wouldn’t have needed all those weapons of war.

What a stupid excuse….. I HATE all the liberal media. Where do you think you live NY times? This is America if you want to get educated you got to work nothing in life is for FREE you got to earn it.. But where did he get the money to get high.. so STOP LYING nyt. 5,500 is still a lot for a community college if he didn't like it he should have found himself a part time job at LEAST…….

It is unconscionable for this country to lure him over here with the promise of American exceptionalism, then allow him to have no American friends. The government should have appointed some people to be his friends, whether they could stand his obnoxious personality, or not. Certainly that would have prevented his becoming the homicidal loser he clearly was. It takes a village, people! We owed him our money, friendship, time, and an education so that he could be properly entitled and happy. Alas….we failed.

Amen to you Nanis. I was hoping this article was being sarcastic- but I guess it wasn't. I am so tired of stupid liberals thinking we owe all kinds of aid to anyone who sets foot in this country. They've got to be kidding. Gee lets see- my daughters both had to put themselves through their undergrad and masters degrees and came out owing big loans. They both worked their asses off while going. by working jobs while they were attending. We've paid taxes all our lives; my father fought in world war two; my brother fought in Vietnam and nobody gave them anything. Where do all these foreigners just newly walking into this country get off thinking we owe them anything without working for it?

I see a bunch of commentors don't know a single thing about how Federal aid works or why it exists. First off, if someone is a Permanent Resident, we offer them aid because they are LOOKING TO STAY IN THE US. If this idiot wasn't radicalized for whatever reason, he WAS going to be a productive citizen in due time. Illegals don't get federal aid so don't even go there, he was as legal as it gets. It's simple to play armchair QB after a crime is committed but to create policy takes smarts, something most of you don't have.

Also, Federal work study isn't cash at all to go to school…..it's an amount you COULD EARN if you were to get a job while in college that falls under that category. If he didn't get a job (which the article doesn't say), then he didn't get that money, period. Good for you Carmela, you do well and therefore, your daughters weren't offered any sort of grants. Did they receive scholarships or did they not qualify for those? Because those rely on brains to receive. If they had a ton of loans from the colleges they choose, well maybe they didn't do a great job at picking an affordable school to attend. If it was a private college vs. a public institution, I don't even want to hear your whining.

Oh and if you had relatives fighting in the wars, they were most certainly offered a gamut of opportunities when arriving home…..anywhere from cheap home loans to job placement and of course the GI Bill. Wah wah wah, what should I expect to get in return?? If you actually asked questions of your father when returning from WWII, maybe you would have a better idea and not so so ignorant and stupid. Guaranteed he got benefits from the war, even if he never talked about it. We were all "foreigners" at one point, don't ever forget that.

YOU are either too young, too stupid, too ignorant, weren't raised in this country or were born with a silver spoon in your mouth. End of story
