Right - you don't need to know the details of my plan, because by winning one election you and your fellow progressives have the right to take over and do whatever you wish, including replacing my plan with one more to your liking. Got it.

You don't even understand what a "free society" is, you poor, misguided fool! In a free society, I have no way to stick you with my health care costs - only if you assume a socialized model of health care can anyone do that.

And yes, you are using a gun - when the government "taxes" me it's really a fine. You and your fellow progressives need to be taught a lesson - good and hard - about not taking things that don't belong to you. I hope that lesson will take the form of an electoral drubbing, but if that's no longer possible because you have bribed so many people into voting Democratic, than any means we use to free ourselves of your economic-planning theories is perfectly legitimate.

By the way - I currently DO have health insurance, but I'm going to drop it if I think that will help cause Obamacare to fail even faster (I'm having trouble paying for it anyway thanks to the economic collapse your side - the progressive left - has caused). Every form of resistance to the tyranny of Obamacare is morally justified.

Let's get something straight, I never implied that you or anyone else were a poor slob in a flyover state, although you do make a strong case in favor of earning that distinction for yourself. Also, if your insurance coverage will not pay for your medical care and leave your medical providers unpaid for the services they provided you, it is abundantly clear that you are underinsured. I do not have to know the details of your plan. I only have to know that your existing plan was cancelled because it did not meet the minimum standards set forth in The Affordable Care Act.

The Affordable Healthcare Act is not the result of a "nanny state" making decisions to benefit you. Its primary purpose is to protect medical providers and taxpayers who are forced to pay for people like you who make decisions through your own willful ignorance, carelessness or just plain selfishness. It also provides standards for coverage to prevent insurance companies from offering plans that will not pay potential claims. A secondary benefit is that you don't lose your life savings because you got sick.

No one is holding you at gunpoint, least of all me. If you don't buy insurance, you pay a tax to help defray your share of the cost to the rest of us who will pay for your medical expenses. Health care is not free, even if you do not pay the bill, someone else does. The Affordable Care Act was developed by medical experts, economists and statisticians using proven methods to predict individual healthcare costs and assign premiums. No one is offering advice, only facts regarding appropriate healthcare coverage. The ACA is not overriding your free will. It is protecting my costs for healthcare from being inflated by people who choose not to pay their own way. Your "will" is completely irrelevant.

Finally, your closing remarks might make a cogent argument if we were discussing what you want to eat for dinner. Your choice would not affect me in the least; however, the decisions you make for healthcare insurance do affect me, my taxes and my insurance costs. Your choice as a "free man" to shirk his responsibility to purchase insurance does not exempt me from leaving you on the side of the road to die from an injury. You still get a ride to the hospital. Why should I have to pay extra so you can go for free?

Ah yes, I heard this talking point from the Left on TV the other night. Your "argument" goes something like this: it's o.k. that people are losing the health insurance that they were content with, and it's o.k. that Obama lied through his teeth about them being able to keep it, because enlightened Progressives like you know better than us poor slobs in flyover country what kind of insurance we need. Clearly we were wrong about our insurance coverage being adequate, even though you have no idea what the details of that coverage were, and we're far better off now that a wise and beneficent nanny-state will make our decisions for us, even if we can't afford the new premiums or if we lose our jobs!

I really think you're too far gone to be reasoned with, so I'll ask you to consider only the easiest aspect of this whole miserable situation: even if you're right and your wonderful Obamacare will provide us with better insurance, what gave you the right to override our wills and our choices at gunpoint? Who exactly do you think you are to make our decisions for us against our will? Shouldn't a free man be able to reject your "advice" about what health insurance policy is best for him? Or do you see your fellow men as your inferiors whom you are entitled to rule by force? It's one or the other, you know.

You are correct, I do not know the details, nor did I make such a claim. Those particulars were left out of the story, a fact which calls into question Mr. Greenfield's integrity as a reporter and his ability to cover important issues with objectivity.

I do know this for certain: The only policies being cancelled and reissued in the manner Klinkhamer describes are those that do not adequately protect the consumer from financial devastation if they are seriously injured or become ill.

I also know that $650 per month is not an unreasonable rate for a 60 year old in today's unsubsidized individual market, and $225 could not possibly purchase the protection she needs.

There is a lot of confusion about the actual costs for insurance; as for most of us, it is heavily subsidised by our employers. The rate you pay depends more on what your employer is willing to contribute and less about what it actually costs. Unfortunately, Obamacare does little to clear this up, however that does not excuse anyone from learning the facts on their own or trashing the law because they do not understand it.

Ms Klinkhamer just benefited from The Affordable Care Act because her new policy and increased premium will provide adequate coverage against catastrophic medical bills. Her medical providers will also benefit because they will be paid for their services. Why is this so hard for people to understand?

HAHA!

How nice of the former Congressman to hire back his old staff when he returned to Congress. You know, since Congress and staffers are subsidized no matter how much they make.

HAHA!

I just had open enrollment.

Went from no deductible to $700
Double co pays
Double the contribution for hospital stays, ER and labs

Total out of pocket probably 60% higher or more (depending how much "care" i need)

Did premiums drop to compensate for lower coverage? Nope, they still went up!

Sue Klinkhamer's problem was not caused by "Obamacare;" it was caused by her insurance company and/or her agent who allowed a 60 year old woman to buy a primary care insurance policy for $225 per month. Luckily, for her, she didn't get hurt or seriously ill because that policy would fall devastatingly short for the coverage she needs. The tone of her comments suggests she is not even aware of the shortfall because she thinks the new policy offers "similar benefits" for a much higher rate. The fact is that she is now being offered a policy with adequate coverage to pay for all types of medical issues at a reasonable rate.

Contrary to Mr. Greenfield's statement, Klinkhamer is not carrying Obama's base; she is paying her own way to buy a realistic amount of insurance to cover actual costs in the event she suffers a serious illness or injury. The new measures enacted by The Affordable Care Act ensures that her new policy will not leave her with devastating medical bills, unpaid doctors and hospitals and quite possibly on public assistance, whereas her cancelled policy most likely would have.

Private insurance is not a wealth distribution scheme, nor is it a tax; it is a system of purchasing protection to pay for medical treatment through cost sharing methods for life saving services that everyone (even you, Mr. Greenfield) needs during their lifetime. The true wealth sharing scheme is perpetrated by the uninsured or underinsured who get treatment without paying for it. The Affordable Care Act simply sets the minimum standards.

She bought into the big lie by our entire government! Both parties are responsible for this big mess! Our government woes could have been avoided, saving us all this grief but, not one member of either party would live up to their Oath of Office by spreading the Truth about Obama from the beginning! Obama is an Illegal, Criminal Usurper occupying Our White House. Remove Obama, his entire regime, Try them for Treason and Execute Them! He should never have been sworn into office and Congress was aware of that from the beginning! Congress should be held accountable for being Complicit in the Coverup of Obama's Ineligibility to be in office plus his many Treasonous Crimes. Congress and the Judicial Branch should be removed and face charges because they have all hidden and aided the Foreign, Criminal Usurper in office which makes them Just as Guilty as Obama for his many High Crimes and Illegal Executive Orders! Nothing he's signed is law because he is Illegal! When I said every member of both parties have some serious problems, that was very serious statement! They have all committed High Crimes against America while they are still not bringing forth the Truth about a man that they are fully aware should not have been sworn in from the beginning! There are others who are pulling the strings who must be dealt with as well but let's take this "one step at a time" until we restore our Constitutional Republic and our Liberties and Prosperity Once Again!
