Scandal Recovery Memo for Politicians: Stop Engaging in Scandalous Behavior
Posted By Daniel Greenfield On August 8, 2013 @ 2:03 pm In The Point | No Comments
First Weiner failed to get the memo and now Spitzer, who briefly postured as the “decent” candidate because he had stopped visiting hookers and was back to normal, isn’t back to normal.
No word on the hookers, but it appears to be rather clear that he’s having an affair and his marriage is not working.
Eliot Spitzer evaded the simplest of yes-or-no questions yesterday — refusing for the third day in a row to deny he’s carrying on an extramarital affair.
When a Post reporter asked whether he has a girlfriend, Spitzer simply shook his head, waved his hand and let out an irritated sigh.
The once hooker-happy governor, now running for city comptroller, said he did not read The Post report yesterday detailing other candidates’ candid replies to the same question.
“If everyone else can do it, why can’t you?” Spitzer was asked. “What’s wrong with a simple yes or no? Why can’t you say yes or no?”
Both Spitzer and Weiner seemed to have launched impulse runs backed by large war chests without thinking it through. For Weiner, it was a use it or lose it situation. But Spitzer’s money is daddy’s money. The urgency wasn’t there.
