School Brands 5-Year-Old’s Cap Gun “Explosives”, Threatens to Call Police

When reporting on stories like these, I’m torn between whether this is due to

A. Administrative overgrowth in education resulting in lots of bureaucrats with categories and no common sense applying rules blindly and covering their asses.

B. A deliberate anti-second amendment agenda being followed blindly by an educational system that functions as an outpost of liberalism.

I suspect it’s probably a combination of both. Either way Zero Tolerance in schools is swiftly reaching the sort of anecdotal scale usually reserved for Middle Ages trials of animals. It’s insane. Everyone who isn’t an educational bureaucrat can agree that it’s indefensible and insane. Now all it takes is putting some political muscle behind pruning the educational bureaucracy and putting more control back in the hands of the parents.

A kindergartner who brought a cowboy-style cap gun onto his Calvert County school bus was suspended for 10 days after showing a friend the orange-tipped toy, which he had tucked inside his backpack on his way to school, according to his family and a lawyer.

The child was questioned for more than two hours before his mother was called, she said, adding that he uncharacteristically wet his pants during the episode. The boy is 5 — “all bugs and frogs and cowboys,” his mother said.

If the punishment stands, it would become part of the boy’s permanent school record and keep him out of classes the rest of the school year, the family said. He would miss his end-of-year kindergarten program at Dowell Elementary School in Lusby.

But no, this isn’t quite insane enough just yet. It gets worse.

The mother was called by the principal at 10:50 a.m. and was told that her son had the cap gun and pretended to shoot someone on the bus. She said that both the kindergartner and his first-grade sister, sitting nearby on the bus, disputed that account.

The mother said the principal told her that if the cap gun had been loaded with caps, it would have been deemed an explosive and police would have been called in.

I suspect that there was more explosive material in the heads of the principal than in the cap gun. But we’re accepting an inhuman system that is relentlessly cruel and completely insane…while claiming to be a humane system that acts in the public interest.

It’s doubtful that any mere individual could be this crazy on their own. It takes a system to make people behave in such ways. And this is why big government is so scary. It programs people to commit all sorts of horrifying and insane acts in the name of following orders.
