Shiites Go On Denying the Religious War

It’s becoming a familiar phenomenon. Sunnis kill Shiites. Shiites blame Israel.
Yesterday Toronto’s Shia Community held a protest outside the US Consulate against the attacks in Syria on the Shrine of Syeda Zainab. The attacks are conducted by Syrian Sunni Rebels.
So who do you think the Shia blame?
And now after the latest major bombing in Lebanon.
A powerful car bomb has killed 20 people and injured 212 in Hezbullah’s South Beirut stronghold on Thursday night. Hezbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah, whose cave is nearby, blamed the ‘Zionists.’
A Sunni Islamist group calling itself the Brigades of Aisha claimed responsibility for the explosion, saying it targeted Hezbollah and promising more attacks.
As the minority sect, Shiites can’t afford to acknowledge being part of an inter-Muslim religious war. Sunnis are reluctantly to openly discuss Syria as a religious war because they want Western support. Shiites are reluctant because they want Muslim support.
Fighting Israel is safe ground. So the Shiites blame Israel for Sunni terrorism.
Senior Hezbollah figures said that the blast “has Zionist fingerprints all over it.”
Vice President of the Higher Shiite Council, Sheikh Abd al-Amir Kabalan, said the the attack “serves the Zionist agenda in the area.”
Lebanese President Michel Suleiman also said that the attack bore the hallmarks of “terror and Israel.”
They all know it isn’t Israel. But it’s safer to blame Israel than to speak the truth.
