An awesome Soviet-era joke comes to mind.

USSR government spokesman announces, "By the year 2000, every citizen of Moscow will have his own private helicopter!"

Innocent foreign journalist asks: "Why would everyone need a private helicopter?"

Government spokesman: "Because let's say one day you find out there are potatoes for sale in Leningrad, this way you can get there first."

Stunned fruits like Maduro seem to think these TVs were grown on trees. But, no, they're not that dumb. They know the TV takes research, development, mining, shipping, construction, training... all the stuff "capitalism" is so good at, and that socialists claim as belonging to "the people" (meaning government). This is how the left behave. This is what the hard left truly believe, and they will go to war before allowing themselves to admit they were wrong. In fact some of them will fight to the death. 0bama is surrounded by hard left true believers. Personally, I don't think he's really a true believer - he doesn't care enough about anyone but himself to be a believer. People like Bill Ayers, Valerie Jarrett, and who knows how many behind-the-scenes ideologues, are calling the shots. 0bama doesn't personally care about America or Americans. At all.

1. Thou shalt not steal.
2. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's goods.

Every, that is E V E R Y socialist government/progressive-democrat party in the world, throughout history has used covetousness as an excuse to steal his neighbour's goods and real property.

And we know the love of (other peoples') money is the root of all evil.

The God of Israel handed down the Commandments for the benefit of everyone. God is interested in everything, down to weights and measures, that we do not cheat our neighbours. We are to love our neighbours as ourselves.

But socialists hate God, hate believers, hate private property, and hate capitalism and individual freedom. How, therefore, can any believer vote for a socialist or a Democrat?

Unless one's belief is merely a ruse and secretly you covet "free" stuff provided by strong-arm criminals robbing old ladies of their pensions to keep you in "free" stuff?

Unfortunately, ignorance of the population serves those crooks very well in order to remain in power and continue on the self-destructive path. When germans and Italians brought and gave Hitler and Mussolini absolute power, they did not immediately realize that they are on the path to self-destruct, but once they did, it was too late. Venezuela is not different neither is the U.S.. Unfortunately, when this happens, all suffer not just those who paved the way to tyranny and gave tyrants the power.

I like it. Someone might call that at cost plus a some sort of a fixed markup, but that puts a seller at risk also. they could contract to import a TV for delivery in a few days or a few weeks and still get loose their shirt because of the exchange rate.

But I still think it is better than what Maduro is doing. I am not sure that Maduro go much past long division if he learned it at all. Yet, he is considered smart enough and wise enough to run a country?

"Maybe we never should have..."

That is certainly valid argument. it is also a valid argument that an aggressive expansionist ideology may eventually fall apart due to its' inherent contradictions but not before swallowing everything. So that is an argument for containment or rollback.

So, how do you handle your inventory if you are running a retail store in Venezuela? At the least you sell it down to a bare minimum and put up with spot shortages. Or, I suppose you could just sell out and have pictures of the stuff for sale, The customers then have to put money down before the stuff is ordered. Of course they could always loot your store by stealing the pictures. It sounds as though they may be headed for a severe economic disruption.

Maybe we never should have been against socialism or Communism in Latin America. It is self destructive.

But I thought these products were plucked from evergreen trees, just dropping down waiting to be scooped up and sold. Hmmm.

None of these people have any serious questions. They're either completely delusional or are perfectly capable of seeing what's happening.

You know what you call a plasma TV connected to a power grid with dirty power?

JUNK!

Since the the government is running the nation's power grid and it will have brown out and black outs, these free TV will only last 1/2 their expected lifespan.

Another thing is is when you are given something and you do not have a good work ethic , you will most likely not think of buying things like surge protectors or have the gumption to research it know that you need one.

Maduro is not Venezuela's president. He is the viceroy of the Cuban Raj, since Venezuela is a colony of Castrogonia (a.k.a. Communist Cuba). The rightful winner of the presidential election (and the future president of a free and democratic Venezuela) is Henrique Capriles. Anyway, the Castro brothers' puppet, Maduro, is mentally insane. The Cuban Raj today is destroying Venezuela at an even faster rate than it was under Chavez. A few days ago, Maduro's United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) hate cult forcefully removed and suspended an opposition lawmaker from the National Assembly and replaced her with a pro-Communist totalitarian PSUV politician, thus giving Maduro enough votes in the National Assembly to pass his so-called decrees, thus making Venezuela one step closer to Communist totalitarianism. We need to help the opposition win the December 8 municipal elections in Venezuela, dismantle the Cuban Raj and restore freedom and democracy to Venezuela (and Cuba).
Regarding Paul Krugman, last year, I had to read a textbook on economics that was authored by Krugman himself in my economics class in college. In that textbook, there was a chapter about the supply and demand market in which there was a brief section on Venezuela. In that section, Krugman explained how price ceilings in Venezuela caused a shortage of basic goods, like grocery products. Even Krugman acknowledges that Venezuela is a mess today, and the situation is likely going to get worse up ahead.
