Syrian Rebels and Hezbollah Vow to Continue Grudge Match in Hell

While I’m completely on board with the proposal to move the Syrian Civil War from Syria to Hell (though the differences between the two locales are currently slight), I hope Obama won’t try declaring a No Fly Zone in hell. His boss’ winged employees might disapprove.

Syrian rebel chief Salim Idriss warned on Tuesday that if fighters from Lebanon’s Shiite party Hezbollah do not stop their aggression in Syria, where they are backing government troops, “we will take all measures to hunt” them, “even in hell.”

“If the attacks of Hezbollah against Syrian territory do not stop within 24 hours, we will take all measures to hunt Hezbollah, even in hell,” he told Al Arabiya news channel, addressing Lebanese President Michel Sulaiman, Arab League chief Nabeel Al Arabi and UN chief Ban Ki-Moon.

“I will no longer be bound by any commitments I made, if a decision to stop the attacks… is not taken and implemented,” said Idriss, a brigadier general who heads the supreme military council of the Free Syrian Army.

“I can no longer restrain the fighters” of the FSA, he added without saying what concrete action they might take.

“We are being subjected to a genocide conducted by Hezbollah,” charged Idriss. “I hope that everyone will excuse the Free [Syrian] Army” for retaliating, he said.

All joking aside, the head of the FSA just declared that he isn’t bound by any of the commitments he made. That should be a major factor in any diplomatic calculations, because the whole idea of backing the FSA depends on its ability to make and keep commitments.

Idris is threatening unspecified atrocities and stating that the FSA should be excused from carrying them out. And all this is happening right after Idris met with Senator McCain.

All this should come as no surprise, considering Idris’ changing positions on Al Qaeda. And Idris is being billed as the man whose leadership provides the Syrian Sunni rebels with legitimacy and credibility.

Maybe in hell.

This is racist. How can we expect people of other cultures to behave as we do by demanding they keep their promises or face consequences? That is colonial thinking. We don't rule the world and we shouldn't expect people to value honesty, trust and reliability just because those racist conservatives make it sound so important.

    Forward!

I really wish a better candidate than John McCain had run against Obama in 2008. The man was not fit for the presidency and he lacks the judgment and intellect to be even a U.S. senator.

Here's hoping his constituents figure that out. It might even be better to have a Democrat replace him, at least he'd be wearing the correct uniform.

It must be understood that inter-tribal warfare rules and will go on until they wipe each other out….faster…faster! But it is also the case that they will lay down their arms long enough to attack every infidel in their path, and then go back to fighting over hegemonic rule. We are dealing with some very sick soldiers for Allah, and herein lies the real issue.

Living in its cross hairs is akin to living on a knife's edge. Really.Jerusalem is preparing for EVERY contingency. Have no doubt about this.
