Ted Cruz on Amnesty: “Americans Expect their Government to End the Lawlessness, Not Surrender To It.”

There are a lot of arguments for what the metrics for real conservatism should be. I would argue that the willingness to sign on to a letter like this in defiance of the special interests pushing amnesty is what separates true conservatives from people who give crowd pleasing speeches.

Ted Cruz has joined Jeff Sessions, Mike Lee and Chuck Grassley in a letter by Senate Judiciary Committee conservatives blasting the amnesty bill.

“Americans expect their government to end the lawlessness, not surrender to it. They deserve immigration reform with actual border security, enforcement of the laws on the books, and a legal immigration system that works,” the senators wrote. “We must welcome and celebrate legal immigrants, but S. 744 fails to deliver anything more than the same empty promises Washington has been making for 30 years.”

Here are some of the excerpted concerns from their letter

1. S. 744 provides immediate legalization without securing the border

“Secretary Napolitano seems to think that efforts to secure the border are already adequate, claiming repeatedly that our border is more security than it has ever been.” Under S. 744, legalization depends on a finding of satisfactory border security by a single, unelected bureaucrat who has stated publicly that she believes the border is already secure.”

2. S. 744 rewards criminal aliens, absconders and deportees and undermines law enforcement

Under this bill, aliens with criminal records are eligible for legalization

3. S. 744 contains extremely dangerous national security loopholes

S. 744 does not require in-person interviews for a single applicant who applies for legal status

4. S. 744 facilitates fraud in our immigration system

The bill allows employers to accept either a voter registration card, or for those under 18, an affidavit by an individual over 21 stating the person is who he says he is, as proof of identity.

5. S. 744 creates no real penalties for illegal immigrants and rewards them with entitlements

6. S. 744 delays for years the implementation of E-Verify

7. S. 744. does not fix our legal immigration system

S. 744 complicates our legal immigration system by creating even more categories of visas and reducing transparency through a series of exemptions from visa caps.

8. It is clear that a deal was made during months of private negotiations between special interest groups, labor unions and select business interests, to which only the bill’s sponsors were privy. Those agreements were strictly enforced during the public markup of the bill, with proponents citing at least a dozen times a “deal” or “agreement” as their excuse for votes against policies they would otherwise support.

9. S. 744 rewards those who have broken our laws by offering a special path to citizenship

Congress today could pass with overwhelming bipartisan support measures that ensure border security, help agents enforce the laws and improve our legal immigration system. But that will not happen because the president and others insist on a special path to citizenship for people who intentionally broke our laws even before our borders are secured.”

You go Ted Cruz, you’re speaking for me! And I haven’t heard that from DC in a long, long time!

      He’s got the right stuff.

I pray for his continued good health.

Enforce the law….which means illegal immigrants (approx. 20 million) need to be deported. One at a time, begin with the worst of the worst and work down the list.

What Cruz must fight is Obama’s intention to secure Democratic votes for Hillary Clinton in 2016. Legalized aliens who’ve gone through the process or who are now going thru it, together with naturalized citizens and born-here Americans, can take the hindmost, as far as Obama,Napolitano, Holder, et al. are concerned. They’re not interested in “legality” or “justice,” just consolidating the Democrats’ political power.

Ted Cruz for President. . .if only.

Both parties want immigration reform… but there are slight differences.

The GOP wants the; scientists, engineers, and computer geeks to become citizens. These people will have a positive effect upon American society, now and far into the future with little to no cost to society.

The Dems want the; future socialists and all of those that will be dependent upon society to pay for their survival, along with everything else such as; education, housing, medicine, and yes even Obama phones…

True, while the H1B crowd are not always Republican supporters they usually have less kids and sometimes less than native whites who are usually the biggest supporters of Republcians. This means that the Republicans have a better chance against H1B’s even if they tend to vote Democratic than over lower skilled workers who still have more children on average than native born Hispanics, Whites, Asians or Blacks.

According to what is happening to a lot of the ranchers along the TX border with Mexico having to deal with the illegal aliens coming across their property nightly is a disgrace. One of them told a reporter that he can’t afford to repair his fences every day to keep his cattle on his property so he’s giving up and put a ladder over his fence so the illegals can climb over his fence instead of tearing it down and damaging his gates. This man’s father ranched this same land for 50 years and never has the son seen anything like this. This is so bad that the Border Patrol can’t keep up with it. A lot of this is happening because of the promise of amnesty that has spread throughout South America. So, this is the nice quite border that “Nappy” is always talking about. Not a one of these sleazy politicians would spend one night on one of these ranches without a squad of Marines armed to the teeth to protect them.

Ted the Cruz Missile, with the intact inner gyroscope and guidance system. I’m seeing the reincarnation of Margaret Thatcher/Ronald Reagan.

  • onecornpone

As far as I know, Sessions and Cruz are solid as a rock, but Grassley is a snake in the grass-ley. ;)

He has played both sides of the aisle in order to keep crony capitalist multi-national grain exporters in the cat-bird seat with the ethanol mandate and the production tax credit for alternative fuels and export subsidies, all the while convincing his Iowa hayseed constituents he is representing them.

“Expect their government to end the lawlessness” from this administration? You must be kidding – expecting such from criminals isn’t going to happen

  • knowshistory

it is a damning commentary on american politics when a politician who agrees with the american people that the government should obey the law becomes a certified, almost stand alone hero. the invasion crisis did not happen overnight. it is the result of decades of flagrant lawbreaking by members of both national parties. none of the criminals have ever been punished for the treasonous replacement of our legal population by foreigners invited, not by the american public, but by arrogant criminals in government. to solve the problem of illegal invasion, the first thing we must do is punish the criminals that caused the problem. they are wealthy, they are powerful, and they think they are not subject to punishment for their horrible crimes.

DogmaelJones1 your correct in your statements, obummer is terrified that they wont be able to cheat as much in the next election esp if they force voter ID

  • cynthia curran

Cruz was recently in Orange County hopefully he stopped a lot of the recent Hispanic pandering out there while encouraging more business devleop among legal or native born Hispanics there. Hispanics in the OC are behind both Vietnamese and Koreans or Middle Eastern groups like Arabs for small business.

  • nelly2004

I hope Boehner is listening- nix the immigration bill and pass a secure the border bill and finish the fence. It is the right thing to do and will accomplish your goal – to win a lot of votes.

  • rangerrebew

When did the government start worrying about what the people expect? What a novel idea!!
