The Democratic Disgrace

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam. He is completing a book on the international challenges America faces in the 21st century.

Every job has a minimum requirement. The absolute very least that anyone can do without being considered a complete and utter failure.

The minimum requirement for a Commander-in-Chief is to stick around when an American diplomatic mission is under fire. Obama flunked even this minimal requirement by going to sleep and then flying off for a fundraiser in Vegas.

The minimum requirement for a Secretary of State is to at least pretend to care why such an attack took place. Hillary Clinton failed that minimum requirement by declaring that it didn’t matter why the attack happened.

The minimum requirement for a Vice President is to avoid becoming a national embarrassment. Biden has failed miserably at that.

The minimum requirement for the country’s leading environmentalist is to refrain from selling a television news network created to promote an environmental message to one of the world’s leading petro-tyrannies. And Al Gore failed there.

Obama, Clinton, Biden and Gore couldn’t even meet the lowest possible standard for their positions, but that’s not a problem in a Democratic Party that no longer has any standards.

America’s newest Secretary of State, John Kerry, was wrong about every historical development since he became involved in politics. If there was a matter of international politics that Kerry got involved in, he was bound to come in on the wrong side.

Kerry picked the Viet Cong over America and picked the Sandinistas over the Contras. He shoveled billions of dollars in foreign aid into Pakistan while it was giving sanctuary to Osama bin Laden and claimed that Syrian dictator Bashar Assad, a sponsor of the Hezbollah terrorist organization, was “an essential player in bringing peace and stability to the region.”

Senator John Kerry had vouched for the sincerity and credibility of everyone from Madame Binh to Daniel Ortega to Mohammed Morsi and for a career record somewhere between stupidity and treason; he was rewarded by being put in charge of implementing the foreign policy of the United States. But then again, Hillary Clinton had received that same job for losing to Barack Obama in the primaries.

While the Bush Administration had appointed qualified men and women to head up the country’s diplomatic efforts, Obama appointed senators who had tried and failed to become president as some sort of bizarre consolation prize.

Kerry joins a Cabinet full of washed-up and scandal-prone figures like Attorney General Eric Holder, whose career should have ended after his role in the Clinton Administration’s Marc Rich pardon scandal, and Arne Duncan, who was rewarded for his failure to reform Chicago schools with the highest education job in the country.  Then there’s Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius who violated the Hatch Act by campaigning at a government event.

Eric Holder bears the distinction of being blasted by Congress in two separate sets of hearings a decade apart. In the waning days of the Clinton Administration, Deputy Attorney General Holder lusted so badly for the Attorney General’s job that he was instrumental in covering up the pardon of Marc Rich.  The House Government Reform Committee called Holder’s conduct “unconscionable”.

A decade later, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held Attorney General Holder in contempt for his cover-up of the Fast and Furious gun-running operation that led to hundreds of deaths. That made Holder the first sitting cabinet member to be held in criminal contempt of Congress and in another administration that might have led to his dismissal. During the Bush Administration, cabinet members had resigned for much less, but the Democrats had given up even maintaining the pretense of being a law-abiding party.

There is hardly anything that a Democrat can do wrong that will force him to resign, barring the combination of severe mental breakdowns and outrageous criminality, as in the cases of Congressman David Wu and Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.  Racist jokes, like those made by Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden about Indian convenience store owners, go virtually unnoticed, as do bizarre remarks indicative of mental illness or a frightening degree of ignorance.

Congressman Hank Johnson used a House Armed Services Committee hearing to ask an admiral whether Guam might tip over if too many Marines land there. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee delivered a speech on how well North Vietnam and South Vietnam were getting along. Johnson followed that up by calling for a new constitutional amendment to control free speech and Jackson did her part by accusing the Tea Party of being the new KKK and demanding that black people’s names be represented in the naming scheme for hurricanes.

And Johnson and Jackson were not even the worst members of the Congressional Black Caucus. That particular honor belongs to Congressman Alcee Hastings who bears the unique distinction of being one of only eight Federal officials in American history to be impeached and removed from office. But that hardly slowed down Hastings who ran for Congress and has been sitting there for twenty years and racking up even more scandals.

Hastings however faces stiff competition from Congresswoman Maxine Waters who was chosen to be the ranking Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee despite helping her husband’s bank obtain millions in bailout money. But Waters still lags behind Barney Frank, the former ranking Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, whose reward for letting his home be used as a brothel was being given oversight over the nation’s financial services industry.

Ethics investigations have become routine and toothless. The Democratic Party has accepted corruption as the new normal. Like Captain Renault in Casablanca, it hardly even bothers putting on a show of outrage when its corruption is brought out into the light.

The Democratic Party has become comfortable in its disgrace. It no longer even bothers to deny the charges; instead like Obama or Clinton it shrugs off each charge and asks what difference does it make?

Hillary Clinton’s question at the Benghazi hearing gets right to the root of the problem with the Democratic Party. For her, what happened at Benghazi made no difference because she knew that she could not and would not be held accountable for it. That arrogant attitude has been the public face of the Obama Administration in response to every scandal.

The threats of Congressional investigations have become impotent in the face of a Government-Media complex blocking reporting on the latest scandal and leaving the Democratic Party free to be as corrupt as it wants to be.

The time is soon coming when ethics investigations will be routine and definitely not toothless.

The Lord is not pleased. His efforts never fail and there are those who need to wake up … soon.

The Dem Party is not even a Party, it is a junta. Once viewed within said prism, all their mendacious behavior becomes obvious – http://adinakutnicki.com/2012/10/07/when-authenti….

As such, is it any wonder, the Radical-in-Chief appointed fellow revolutionaries to the most sensitive postings, bar none – http://adinakutnicki.com/2013/02/11/john-brennan-

The Dems (for the most part, though few feel otherwise, they are intimidated into not "rocking the boat") are beholden to the most radical forces in U.S. history, both inside the U.S. and beyond its shores. The U.S. house is imploding

The Obama administration is showing the same type of corruption that brought down many of the 1990s-era politicians. They have been getting increasingly arrogant and brazen, and in the end, it WILL be their downfall.

Just ask the Liberal Party of Canada…

Chicago is well known for this kind of thing.

But this is the first time it's been on a national level.

Can you imagine Nixon trying this? The real journalists are all dead.

        • BS77

Journalists are not dead…they are now the Fourth Branch of Government a la Orwell…..they are shills for the Democrat Party, and have been for over twenty years….their job is to keep the propaganda going, irregardless of sixteen trillion dollar deficits, fifty million Americans on food stamps, border anarchy and the ongoing war in Afghanistan…and the propaganda is very simple…..Democrat Good, anything else Bad.

          • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLNn2YflwNs Roger

            The propagandists.
They may wear the journalist name tag, but they're not real journalists.

    • JacksonPearson

"The Dem Party is not even a Party, it is a junta."
The democrat party is a criminal enterprise.
Because, very little that they do is by the book, or legal.

    • directedby1

Really, there is no longer any reason not to start assassinating prominent Democrats, whenever the opportunity presents itself. Impeachment proceedings and the judiciary and the organs of the state cannot be used against those who wield the power permanently, so the only recourse now are assassination, insurgency, blowing up officials' cars, using any and all means to slaughter officials of the most corrupt entity in the Western world. If they're not stopped the danger to America will escalate and accelerate. I would not criticize or condemn any insurgent who killed officials of the Regime, or members of the immoral & degenerate Democrat-Media Complex. This is what they richly deserve, to spend the rest of their lives running, under constant threat of attack. Like how the entire membership of the PLO hit team that murdered Israeli Olympic athletes years ago, how they were quietly pursued in the years that followed, a measured, relentless, sustained, implacable pursuit by a small unit of Israeli special forces, killing one after another. Small militia units should be created for this express mission – killing the corrupt looters and degenerates that now occupy the Federal Gov't. Imagine seeing all the lying apparatchiks of the Democratic Party, who so brazenly and breezily have opponents killed, imagine seeing them disappear one after another, pursued like Nazis in South America. And that's exactly what they are.

  • Chezwick

Friends, FPM is an indispensable news source and I consider it my home on the net (along with Drudge and JW). I only wish that there were more than just the occasion inspirational/hopeful offering.

It seems that we conservatives are much more identifiable by what we oppose than by what we believe in…and believe me folks, I'm certainly no exception; my cynicism and negativity runneth over these days. But still, story after story on these pages only serves to amplify the negativity I'm already experiencing as a result of the current dismal state of the world….and I'm sure it's the same with so many other readers.

I comprehend that this institution stands as one of the main opposition outlets against the liberal establishment…and that the dark transgressions of said establishment need to be aggressively and diligently exposed to the light of day. I only wish that there could be perhaps one offering a day that conveys a hopeful message, one that inspires us, so that we might inspire others.

(Daniel, it was only incidental that I chose to post this comment on your thread)

    • itsy_bitsy

I would like to agree with you, but since Obama's reelection I have been unable to find a single hopeful action by our government, and I will not be a Pollyanna! We need to face facts and encourage people to educate themselves, and (more importantly) their children to see fraud when it is forced on us!

      • Asher

Millions of people agree with you! Day after day the lies and propaganda are forthcoming from this administration, with no improvement and less jobs, a stagnant economy and future for our children and grandchildren.

        • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLNn2YflwNs Roger

Governance isn't for the good of the people to this crowd.
It's a tool towards total dominance.

    • Cat K

I think the conclusion you almost reach here is a bit scary for you. And that is why you experience "negativity." Does the criminality (of our current government) require action rather than words?
And who is it that might act? And how?

Words are powerful. It's true that "we" cannot easily reach those besotted with Obama and dismissive of fact and logic. Or can we, somehow? Is there a way to break through the government media complex? If the "sheep" would become outraged at Democrat criminal behavior, that behavior would change and their power would be somewhat diminished.
If we cannot create this outrage….. Then what?
One hopes and dreams that there are some back room plans in motion by those with means and will to take down the currently powerful. But, I see no evidence of that yet.

      • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLNn2YflwNs Roger

Then we vote them out of office only to have elections stolen by union serviced electronic voting machines.

Oh, that doesn't work very well for us. We end up with senator Reid and precincts that go 114% for Obama with 0% for Romney in spite of any registered republicans living there.

      • Chezwick

I appreciate the input of everybody….and don't disagree with any particular response.

Cat used the word "scary" to describe what I'm feeling….I think the more accurate word would be "weary". I'm weary of the steady drumbeat touting liberal advances that are steadily bringing our country down. I've even stopped watching TV news since the election, even Fox….(though I certainly keep up on the Net).

Itsy Bitsy is absolutely correct, the GOVERNMENT under Obama deserves only our contempt and repudiation…and let me reiterate, I'm not for a minute suggesting FPM pull its punches. But to cite some examples, what about more frequent coverage of the successful policies of Republican Governors?…what about more accounts of the specific stories of heroism by our men and women in uniform?…what about using humor as a vehicle for political expression?…and what about just OCCASIONALLY enunciating conservative principles in a manner that's NOT part of an attack on our opponents, but rather an unequivocally positive presentation, the way Reagan might have made?

        Just a thought, folks.

  • Mach1Duck

    We are a free people?

  • itsy_bitsy

Great article! It's hard to believe that this country could sink to the level described, but at the same time this needs to said! The lack of caliber in the democrat party politicians, and those in power is almost unbelievable!

  • pierce

And what about the clowns who voted to put these people either in office, or back in office. Sure, George W wasn't the greatest President America has had, but when you look at what has occurred for the last 4 years, and is likely going to happen over the next 4 years, we ought to be real proud of what we have done, yes, reelected a dud. Thank you all you clowns who did not care, or did not know what was happening. The transformation is almost complete.
Thank you Daniel Greenfield for the truth, one of the best articles written on this subject in quite awhile. Do not stop, AMERICA WILL WAKE UP, IF AROUSED ENOUGH.

    • Maxie

The ONLY thing that will "wake America (i.e.; the low info voter) up is economic hardship. It would have kicked-in already except for the fact the whoever is running the country has revved-up the printing presses at the treasury. This is an absolutely futile delaying action which will trigger crushing inflation. When THAT kicks-in the party's over. I don't see Obama finishing-out his second term. Whether he does, or doesn't our economy is headed for the trash heap.

    • elysianhunter

Voter fraud enters into it too. The Thief in Chief couldn't win without cheating like he did in Ohio. But here in Ohio, anyone could vote if they had a utility bill in their hand. Never mind that one needs not be a US citizen or a resident of Ohio to have utilities in one's name. The Dems took full advantage of that loophole by bussing in non-citizens to the early voting center in Franklin County. Also in Ohio, the voter rolls were not purged, so many dead people still got absentee ballots (wink-wink) and some people were registered in multiple locations. So we had non-citizens voting, dead people voting and people just plain voting multiple times. This explains how several precincts in Cuyahoga County had over 100% of the electorate voting for Obama. Fair election, my patoot. It sure wasn't here in Ohio.

Voter fraud: how Democrats "win" elections.

  • Crosscut

Very good summation, but with the Media in your pocket you can literally get away with murder. The low info voters don't read any of this stuff and wouldn't understand it if they did.

  • Asher

We don't intend to watch the State of the Union speech because it will be more lies from Obama. We will, however, watch the response from Marco Rubio. I am reminded of the scripture Ecclesiastes 10: 2 The Heart of the Wise inclines to the Right, but the heart of the Fool to the Left. Even as he walks along the road, the Fool lacks sense and shows Everyone how Foolish he is. If a Ruler's anger rises against you, Do not leave your post; calmness can lay great errors to rest. None of the branches of government will work together as a team, because of unrighteous leaders who are corrupt and think only of themselves. (Right Minded People who work for the common Good, One Nation Under God is the formula, and until we get it right, this tyranny will continue.)

    • Kathleen3

Marco Rubio is a Jeb Bush protege. The Bush Boys and now their new quarterback, Condoleeza Rice, are die-hard Council on Foreign Relations and open borders advocates. Rubio flipped on a dime and now parrots the Bush/Rice amnesty agenda

Rubio is the Cuban equivalent of Barack Obama. Neither man has/had a record of accomplishment; both men are glib; and one comes from one minority group (Black) while the other comes from another (Latino). Empty suits who are smooth talkers and happen to be born into the ethnic group du jour are not what we need if we are to restore law and order in this country. Time for public servants and not Party Boss directed career politicians.

It is common to be worn down by continuous problems that seem to have no solution and that
the Democrats are no longer faithful Americans and are devoid of moral character, lacking
any ability to be truthful, lost in thier own contempt for the Nation I think they need to be
denounced as a political force. Criminal enterprise is the name of thieving collections of
amoral instigators of corruption and dissolution of legal norms. Charlatan in Chief Obama is
leading a troop of transparently vacuous individuals that have long been enemies of America
and are in a position to steal tax dollars under the guise of stimulous fraud while pretending
to do the peoples business, when they are finished the people will be done. Our government
was designed to have checks and balances but it seems that corruption holds all three
as accomplices in our ruin.America may never recover as the makeup of Americans is
in the hands of Universities devoted to Communism/Socialism and Churches that teach
sin is just fine human conduct, professions that look for profit without standards of conduct
befitting honesty, should I go on………Drastic action and change are needed……….William

SERIOUSLY, what experience did Obama and Hillary have in anything but BS? Their "Circle of Communists" are also inexperienced except for making protest signs. These activists can only talk so when confronted with real world issues, now on their plate, they have no experience to fall back on.

Hillary, as First Lady, has no experience in negotiating, except with Bill, and even then, she was blinded by the power and the perks and allowed him to do anything and anyone.

Obama, a good orator, was just another activist who based his decisions taught to him by KGB and CPUSA operatives and professors sympathetic to the Soviets and their system. So, when the Iron Curtain fell, these KGB dupes and fellow travelers were very bitter, the most bitter of all the world's communists, except of course, the KGB and now KGB PUTIN, who Obama bows to his orders.

Now, Obama, and his "Circle of Communists," are creating the condition$ for the downfall of the United States, and loss of world power, as revenge for the fall of the Soviet Union, a country they loved more than their own!

The onus is on you to show in what way he was lacking in facts. Methinks your reading comprehension is poor or you simply didn't read the article and just came on the website, saw the headline to the article and decided to post some left wing talking point.

      • CCgal33

These are not facts, they are opinions:

"The minimum requirement for a Commander-in-Chief is to stick around when an American diplomatic mission is under fire. Obama flunked even this minimal requirement by going to sleep and then flying off for a fundraiser in Vegas.

The minimum requirement for a Secretary of State is to at least pretend to care why such an attack took place. Hillary Clinton failed that minimum requirement by declaring that it didn't matter why the attack happened.

The minimum requirement for a Vice President is to avoid becoming a national embarrassment. Biden has failed miserably at that."

        • Guest1

          Thes are facts:

John Kerry sided with the Viet Cong against America when he echoed their propaganda against US soldiers
John Kerry supported the Sandanistas when he voted to cut funding for the Contras.
John Kerry is now Sec. of State, and failed in his presidential campaign.
Hillary Clinton became Sec. of State after failing in the 2008 Dem primary
Hillary Clinton did answer “What difference does is make” when questioned about Bengazi.
Eric Holder was instumental in the Marc Rich pardon, and did try to cover it up.
Eric Holder is still covering up the “Fast and Furiuos” scandal.
Eric Holder was in fact held in contempt of congress.
Idiots Hank Johnson and Shirley Jackson Lee did make those moronic statements.
Alcee Hastings was impeached as a judge, and then elected to congress.
Maxine Waters was complicit in steering “stimulus money” to her husband’s bank.

All the above support the article’s premise that the democratic parrty is corrupt and faces no accountability.
That’s sevral facts. Not sure how you missed them. Oh yeah, your strawman attempt was bush league.

        • http://frontpage Rebecca

The facts clearly show that our “Commander-in-Chief” was disengaged during the Benghazi attack. That any Commander-in-Chief would simply go to sleep after learning of the attack is off the scales in terms of how a President should behave under such circumstances. And to go off for a fundraiser was lacking in sympathy for those who lost their lives after such a fierce battle. For a Secretary of State to say the reasons for the attack didn’t matter was an idiotic statement on its face considering her next statement was we need to find out why this happened so we can prevent it from happening again. Talk about illogical logic. And yet the lamestream media practically swooned at her idiocy. And Biden is a national embarrassment. There is nothing about that statement that is opinion. You have to be a buffoon to believe otherwise. Now that last sentence was my opinion.

John Kerry, who never had a private job in his life, did not inherit any real money and is worth over 150 million dollars, also opposed the invasion of Kuwait, after it was illegally invaded by Iraq.

Ole Horseface made his money the old fashioned way. He married into it. He divorced his first wife after she was diagnosed with depression. She was only worth about 500 million at the time. John traded up to an heiress, Terrorisa Heinz-57 positions-worth close to 1 billion. Smooth operator!!

    • CCgal33

Paul Ryan has also never held a private sector job.

      • UraFecalLiberal

Oh yes he did. He recounts several times publicly that he worked in McDonalds flipping burgers and other minimum wage jobs to make money after his father died and to help with college expenses.

Nice try to divert away attention from a gasbag by introducing irrelevant strawman arguments. Very lame, indeed.

        • CCgal33

Working at job in high school that doesn't pay enough to rent an apartment, much less support a family on, does not count. He has never had a job where he had to support himself and his family. He has always made his living by working for the government. Poor Paul Ryan had to work at McDonalds to help pay for college. Most don't get to go or have to work full time and take classes at night if your parents can't pay for you, if you want to avoid being buried in student loans. Its hard to find out where John Kerry worked as a minor, because it completely doesn't matter. Just like my boss could care less my fist job was at subway.

          • Fritz

Who says that Paul Ryan did not have student loans to payoff? Also if you media matters drones would read and comprehend comments first before you hit the reply button, it was mentioned that Paul Ryan did work at other minimum wage jobs other then McDonalds. Who says that working at any entry level job doesn't count as work? That is an insult to millions working in the food services industry.
In any event that still doesn't change the fact that John Kerry is a gigolo who never met a rich widow he didn't like, or the fact that he has been a turncoat to his country for over 40 years.

The immorality and corruption of the Democratic Party Regime in Washington grows more Mephistophelian by the day. I've heard of the drugfest sex parties and prostitution rings that occur routinely in Washington now.
