“The President has No Authority to Unilaterally Attack Iran, If He Does… I Will Move to Impeach.” Joe Biden

Don’t worry. This has no relevance now. This was when Bush was in power. The idea of impeaching Obama for unilaterally starting a war is silly. Just ask Time Magazine or Politico or Atlantic. The War Powers Act has no meaning. The Framers always intended that one man should be able to start a war any time he feels like it.

Sure Joe Biden disagreed, but that was in 2007. The law stopped applying in 2008. All laws did. And if you disagree, well you’re probably racist. (But only if you disagree after 2008)

Presidential hopeful Delaware Sen. Joe Biden stated unequivocally that he will move to impeach President Bush if he bombs Iran without first gaining congressional approval.

Biden spoke in front of a crowd of approximately 100 at a candidate forum held Thursday at Seacoast Media Group. The forum focused on the Iraq war and foreign policy. When an audience member expressed fear of a war with Iran, Biden said he does not typically engage in threats, but had no qualms about issuing a direct warning to the Oval Office.

“The president has no authority to unilaterally attack Iran, and if he does, as Foreign Relations Committee chairman, I will move to impeach,” said Biden, whose words were followed by a raucous applause from the local audience.

Biden said he is in the process of meeting with constitutional law experts to prepare a legal memorandum saying as much and intends to send it to the president.

Wait… can we get a copy of that memorandum. It might come in handy and might help make Biden president.

Here’s a clue for clueless UhOh Joe Biden; The Senate does not have the Constitutional power of bringing impeachment charges against a president. The House of Representatives brings charges of impeachment, the Senate tries the charges and either convicts or acquits.

Biden : just got a sound bite here on the BBC radio; Joe says there is no doubt the chemical attack was the work of the Syrian govt. He is absolutely certain, WITHOUT PROOF. Anyway, who needs proof to find someone guilty when you have an agenda. Ask George Zimmerman. The UK cabinet is being convened in emergency session since Hitler has invaded, sorry, since they now know that Assad’s regime used chemical weapons. PM Cameron, a public schoolboy who plays at being prime minister, says it’s not about overthrowing, or even attacking, the Syrian regime, it’s simply that using chemical weapons must be punished ! It’s priceless stuff. Foreign Secretary, William Hague, has been whining about Syria for the last year or more, itching for an attack. This is the same idiot who wants Turkey in the European Union. Now ex-PM Blair is urging action against Syria. Better listen to him, eh.

America and the UK have been given governments which are simply the wrath of God on our nations. No doubt about it.

I suspect one of the problems with being the president is that you end up making decisions partially based on classified information. We, the people do not have access to that classified info and cannot always see the reason. The same thing happens regardless of the party in the oval office.

That being said. The US should support neither side in the Syrian uncivil war. Neither side benefits America. The only reason to become involved is humanitarian and the use of WMD. The humanitarian excuse also applies to many parts of the world now and in the past and the military cannot cover them all or ensure humanitarian/American friendly regimes in the after-war period. The WMD excuse would also imply that pres Clinton should have made more of an effort in Iraq and implies a stronger reaction to Iran.

Obama should have been impeached over Libya, but no one bothered to do anything, now he has free reign to violate the constitution again and again. All of that yelling Amerifats make about being devoted to their constitution amounts to nothing more than empty words.

    • Area52

Not keen on any of this but, honestly speaking, would you responded the same had Bush bombed Libya? Not many of us cared a whit for Gadhafi and you know it.

      • Ulrick

Gadhafi doesn’t matter. Not liking a foreign dictator doesn’t give you free reign to start war without congressional authorization (which I’m sure he easily could have got, but with Obama being the tyrant he is…).

I cannot remember how many leftists, libertarians, etc., have lectured me that a president would have to get Congressional approval or a declaration of war from Congress in order to (as they say) “bomb Iran.”

If that memorandum is available on-line I would like to get the link. I wonder what kind of response I will get if I send an email to the VP to see what he thinks. If he thinks.

well you’re probably racist. (But only if you disagree after 2008).” lol You made my day!

My how the meaning of words will change when a Progressive is in power.

Where is Code Pink, Jesse & Al, the Hollywood Left, The Congressional Black Communists, The Spanish Communists, La Raza, GLBTW Lobby, etc. ?

It is a racist act to vote against someone because of the color of their skin, as to vote for someone because of the color of their skin.
