The author has a good idea but misses some very important points.

Rights are inherent in the nature of human beings. They are the requirements for human beings to live on earth. Rights are not created by governments. They are either acknowledged by governments or violated by governments.

Civil rights have a long and mixed history. It is seldom acknowledged that the civil rights movement was infested with communists who had no interest in actual individual rights. Their entire purpose in the civil rights movement was to make the federal government the final arbiter of all dealings between individuals. It was they who insisted on the "public accommodations" section of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. It was that section that five decades later has led to the absurdity of telling wedding photographers who they must photograph.

Once the federal government had the power to compel people to deal with each other against the will of at least one of the participants, the stage was set to control all economic dealings between people. Control of the economy was the purpose of the left wing elements of the civil rights movement.

Barry Goldwater was excoriated for refusing to vote for the 1964 Civil Rights Act because he understood the danger of such a vast increase in the federal government's power. He saw then what few people can see even today.

It seems that on this planet, no matter how badly an enemy is discredited and defeated, there will always be those who manage to escape the destruction of their cult and keep the evil alive. Look at how the Nazis spread their evil among the Muslims during and after WWII. Nazism still lives.
Where I think humanity goes wrong is with the generations who follow those who defeated the evil. They get complacent and ignore the signs of growing evil, while indulging themselves in the prosperity that was made possible by those who fought. It seems we can defeat evil temporarily, but can't maintain vigilance. How else could someone like Obama get elected, twice?

Once again, brilliant analysis Daniel. The problem cannot be understood or effectively fought without understanding the extent of the Left's intended "fundamental transformation." You layed it out beautifully.

Freedom without context is meaningless. Freedom needs a qualifier to have meaning. There is freedom-to and freedom-from.

Our founding fathers built into the constitution the freedom from oppression from a tyrannical government, or freedom to make our own choices. They guaranteed our freedom to worship or to speak as we choose. It is all about the right to choose.

The Left wants to offer us freedom from a host of things that are all based in envy or fear. They intentionally magnify all of the things they need us to fear or envy first to make it seem like it was our choice to give up our right to choose. They are essentially only offering freedom-from, but the only way to get freedom-from is to give up the freedom-to. They want us to hand over our freedom to choose, including what we think or believe. Of course, they really aren't asking us to voluntarily give up our right to choose, they are just taking it, but they want us to think we had a choice. It's like being bribed with silver or lead, but the silver is tin.
