does anyone have a a solution? I don't believe that buying back toy guns is the answer. How about more headstart programs or programs for younger children - where they begin life with a more rounded experience.
I think that children, especially, in the inner cities, experience more violence than most children. The mothers' are often single, tired and feel trapped. Maybe a place for the children to go to - would relieve the mother and give her a chance to train for a job or go to school. Both she and her child and society at large would benefit from this.
Really????Newark NJ? You have to be jiven. The Jungle and were going to blindfold the good Christian kids not to know what a side arm is while their inner city black adversarries have been dealing with the real deal and not even cap guns or BB guns. I grew up in Brooklyn during the 50's and 60's and you didn't go on the street unless you were savvy. It was an Italin neighbrohood and they decided to build Welfare Projects so the blacks could have a cheap place to live supported by tax payers. They never thought about how it would degrade the school system or effect the scio-economic aspect. No just the poor blacks who wasn't long in organizing drugs, gangs, guns and gang wars. The Italians been at this since the Roman Empire so it wasn't long before we had organized an army that sent the blacks to the projects.

Well that's a way to combat the problem of getting wet from water guns and stop being frightened by cap gun noises.

It doesn't do a damn thing about the real gun problem but libs don't live in reality .

The Justice Policy Institute and FBI found that ;

13- 16 year olds accounted for 8% of the overall population and accounted for 3.6% of firearm homicide victims, and 3.7% of overall homicide offenses.

Among juveniles 14- 18 serving in correctional facilities, 86% owned a gun at some point, with 66% acquiring their first gun by age 14.
Juveniles most often acquire guns from family, friends, drug dealers and street contacts.

96,000 students were arrested and 242,000 referred to law enforcement by schools during the 2010 school year.
Black or Hispanic students made up 73% percent of arrested or referred students.

Blacks under 18 are more than 17 times more likely to be arrested for murder than Whites the same age.

Bureau of Justice Statistics- between 1976 and 2011, there were 279,384 black murder victims. 262,621 were murdered by blacks.

From a kids point of view:

• I'll give you my toy gun when you pry it from my cold, dead, toddler hands.
• Toy guns kill people just like my pencil causes my mis-spellings.
• If toy guns are outlawed can we use swords?
• 1 Trillion toy guns killed no one yesterday.
* My toy gun, I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
• In a perfect world I wouldn't need a toy gun... this is not a perfect world.
• The problem is not the availability of toy guns, it is the availability of morons.
