Useless Leftist Idiot to Give Useless Medal to Slightly Less Useless Leftist Idiot

Presidential medals of X, Y and Z tend not to matter very much. They’re awards that governments give out at photo ops.

That’s not even the case with the Israeli Presidential Medal of Distinction which is chosen by an advisory committee to the President of Israel. The President of Israel, unlike the President of the United States, occupies a primarily ceremonial position. He’s the equivalent of Joe Biden and Shimon Peres who currently holds that position makes Joe Biden look like a genius. Peres is a brain-dead leftist running on his last brain cell and blathering endlessly about nanotechnology.

The Presidential Medal of Distinction is supposed to be given to a honoree who

1. Made a distinctive contribution to the world

2. Contributed uniquely to society

3. Is a model for entrepreneurship, creativity, innovation and vision

The award, which looks like the patch for the Israeli space program or some grape juice soda being spilled on a menorah, was established last year to give Peres something to do with his time.

Since 2012, it has already been awarded six times, which tells you how selective it is. Awardees include Henry Kissinger, a man who hated Israel more than Obama, Hagel and Hamas put together, and got more Israelis killed, which also tells you something about the selectivity.

The actual choice comes from a committee which cited Obama for his “constant practice to promote equality regardless of religion, race, gender and sexual orientation, to strengthen the poor in the U.S. and the empowerment of democratic values, unity and peace in the world.” That should tell you something about whoever put that ridiculous collection of words together.

The award committee is co-headed by Yitzhak Navon, another former Israeli president who leans well to the left. The committee also includes, Muhammad Essawi, head of the Al-Qasemi College, which was founded to teach a “moderate” Sufi version of Islamic Sharia law, and a few others.

Obama gave Peres the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Now Peres is giving Obama the Israeli Presidential Medal of Distinction.

Terrific take on these two and the 'Dumb Award'. It's supposed to look like Obama is a supporter of Israel, and the President of Israel has some power. Both are ridiculous. The man giving out the medal just authorized the FREE GIFT of F-16 fighter planes to Egypt – an avowed enemy of Israel. The only thing we can suppose is, the builders of those aircraft have crafted a system of "self-destruct" whenever they actually try to shoot a missile from those planes! (I know – dream on!)

Why doesn't Peres just give one to Abbas as a sign he is a man of "peace?" Then again, Haniyeh deserves one too, and of course Ahmadinejad.

wow, Kissinger was an Israel-hating Jew? I heard a lot about him back in the day but nothing I read ever mentioned that.

You heard it here first.Greenscum is so hardcore that he believes even Theodor Hertzel was a self-hating jew and a raving antisemite.

The only "ammo" this article serves as is in the clip of liberals justifying not giving respect to the Rightists that do deserve it because of frustration with blithering, emotional-appeal-driven windbags like Daniel Greenfield.

You hurt your half of the spectrum more than you contribute to it, Daniel. The only people not disgusted by your rhetoric are those you needn't try to convince in the first place, a preacher to the choir whose attention you had anyways.

The fact you make this your career terrifies me and further justifies the little amount of respect I have for politcal-hype journalists on EITHER END of the political spectrum.

google: let them bleed a little

Actually Kissinger was probably not so much a hater of Israel for personal reasons but he seemed to have no concern about morality anywhere in the world. He used Israel just like he used everything he could to advance his own agendas.

Kissinger got caught in between the Saudis and Israel during the Yom Kippur War. Let's just say that Kissinger didn't see any importance in Israel surviving beyond the fact that they were at that moment using US-made weapons. It was an issue with cold war era prestige. Protecting a nation under attack had nothing to do with it. Close ties between Israel and the USA or the rest of the West meant nothing when Faisal threatened oil supplies.

I doubt Kissinger hates anyone. He doesn't think anyone or anything is important enough for that emotion. The effect might seem like hate to those he sells out though.

Objectivity is a key component to journalism, and one whose instructor's review we can only assume Danny skipped class on the day of.

And the sad fact of the matter is that he will probably justify not heeding any of the points I've made in the last 10+ comments by giving a snobby "humph" to the dangling participle I left in the preceding sentence, rather than a retort to any of my arguments.

I think you're lost. Here's an URL to find this article at the moment I wrote this comment:

          What does that tell you?

“The emigration of Jews from the Soviet Union is not an objective of American foreign policy,” Mr. Kissinger said. “And if they put Jews into gas chambers in the Soviet Union, it is not an American concern. Maybe a humanitarian concern.”

Everyone needs to put this article in their ammo box so on the day when Obama actually gets the thing draped around his neck and the MSM goes into full swoon/climax mode it will come in handy for firing back with some facts.

Senior leaders with a certain streak of narcissism often practice a form of mutual suck-up. They stroke each other's ego, perhaps hoping the honors they receive will enhance their standing with their own population. A few months ago Peres received a high honor from Obama. Peres is now returning the favor.

It would be great to read an article that could forgo the words "idiot" and "braindead". I might even agree with an analysis that didn't have to stoop to schoolyard insults to try and make a point. So much commentary on the right – including the authors and the readers – has descended into a name calling pit. Since on general principal I don't read left wing sites I will assume that its pretty much the same. Let's hope the writers can lift themselves up a bit after they get thier middle school diploma.

Thank you! This is what I've been saying reading through each of Daniel Greenfield's articles.

It's like, honestly, if you're such a revered "Fellow" of a journalistic society, use that noggin for Christ's sake.

"It would be great to read an article that could forgo the words "idiot" and "braindead"."

      1) He's got to communicate moral outrage in some way
      2) If the presentation is too dry the audience goes to sleep and doesn't return as often and comments are also fewer and shorter.

Therefore even if you hate reading it, his style works for his objectives and the real-world circumstances today.

What applies in kindergarten does not necessarily apply for the rest of life. Don't be so ridiculous. Some of us are long past submitting to grade school teacher rules and are longer attending. You'll see some day too if you're a good kid.

Jesus Christ, Daniel. I was ashamed of you and your articles before, but still a part of me thought I should give them consideration. That is, until I saw such emotionally drive clart as the title of this article.

In case you wonder why no one gives you (or any more level-headed Rightists) the credence and respect they deserve when they DO have something legitimate to say, just refer back to filth like this article and it's lack of those same tenements.
