White Hispanic is Old, White Chechen is New

What do George Zimmerman and Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have in common? They’re both inconvenient minorities. Liberals assumed that Zimmerman was a white man who shot a black man based on his last name. His actual appearance and background were racially inconvenient.
Liberals were counting on the Boston bombers being white men to help them ram through the next phase of gun control and white privilege diatribes. Instead they were Chechen Muslims.
If George Zimmerman had been shot by a cop, then he would have been a member of a minority group. If Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev had been denied service in a restaurant, they would have been proof that we are a racist country. But now they’re inconvenient and liberal pundits on MSNBC and Salon are scurrying to explain why they’re white or as good as white.
But what is white anyway? What defines a minority? The American left built everything around their construct of race the way that their ideological forebears built around class. The polarity required two groups. The oppressed and the oppressors. Membership was simple, but vague. What made one a member of the working class? Why were revolutionaries so often dilettantes from wealthy families?
The liberal construct of whiteness raises similar questions. The problem becomes obvious when minority status is imposed or taken away based on political convenience. Bill Clinton was the first black president, but Condoleezza Rice wasn’t really black.
Joan Walsh insists that Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev are white because they are from the Caucasus. But then again Aryans are from India. That leaves us no choice but to conclude that India is white. If we get really vague about boundaries, we can also include much of Asia and Iran. That whitens most of the human race which now consists of White-Chinese, White-Iranians and White-Indians.
Now it’s on to Africa. If white people originated from Africa, then by Joan Walsh’s infallible Caucasian logic, retroactively, the region must be white.
And now we’ve solved the great racial problem of the world. There are no more races. Only White-Africans, White-Asians and White-Europeans. Everyone is white now and everyone is privileged and everyone is racist.
Finally we can start looking at the content of character instead of skin color. At least until the Martians land.
