Dearborn, Michigan – April 12, 2008 – The Service Employees International Union’s dispute with the California Nurses Association turned violent as SEIU members tried to break up a conference organized by Labor Notes, an independent labor organization. CNA Executive Director Rose Ann DeMoro had been scheduled to speak at the conference. SEIU and CNA are in a bitter dispute over a hospital organizing campaign in Ohio. At least two people were injured as three busloads of SEIU members tried to force their way into the conference at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
