Her fellow long-distance swimmers aren't convinced she actually swam the entire distance, either. She has rested in boats in past attempts. How would getting older make her more likely to succeed? I smell an end justifying the means.
She was willing to lie about Cuba's health care, where millions get none, but the elites get good care. If she's willing to lie about the criminally unjust Cuban health care system, why wouldn't she lie about her alleged achievement? Why would she care about those who drowned trying to escape the ideology she adheres to if she doesn't care about the poverty wracked Cubans who die from lack of health care?

The absolute best thing the US could possibly do for Cubans suffering under the Castro regime, the biggest blow for freedom we could make in that country, is to push for normalization of relations between Washington and Havana. Why do we still interact with Cuba as if it's permanently October, 1962?

Because presidential candidates get too much mileage being "tough on Fidel" while seeking Florida's 29 electoral votes every four years, much of which come from the Cuban-heavy districts of Miami Dade.

It's that simple.

If a professional swimmer who expresses admiration for Cuba's medical care and education systems can be slimed as "desecrating the graves of 50,000 Cuban freedom seekers," why would any politician stick his neck out to suggest we finally make nice with Fidel and end Cuba's misery?

How is it principled at this point to keep this anachronistic relationship with Havana? Who is benefitting? Cuban-American groups, and authors, speakers and Fox News regulars like Fontova, whose interests in politicians extend far beyond their stands on the Cuba issue, for just two examples. Certainly not the Cuban - or American - people.

Just a note on Lindbergh: Lindbergh, a commissioned officer and U.S. Air Corps-trained qualified military pilot, volunteered among the first to join the air corps and fly in combat against our nation's enemies after Pearl Harbor. President Franklin D. Roosevelt refused to allow him to serve because of his America First prewar statements.

Lindbergh went to work for some airplane manufacturer, and during the war he traveled to the Pacific for his employer to advise military pilots on how to preserve fuel on the long flights they had to take in that theater. He flew his combat missions as a civilian. What a waste of talent because the man exercised his First Amendment rights, however repugnant people found his opinions to be.

"Escrich runs the Castro-regime’s Hemingway Marina"

Property ownership in a communist society? I am not in favor of communism. I will concede that communism can work out as has been shown for over 100 years or more in America on a scale of 150 people or less. Provided of course the people are basically morale.in this case good Christian stock.

Once you have a communist nation shift away from state ownership, then it is nothing but a brutal thug oligarchy even if it was not before. We know this from experience. The cabal that runs the government has to keep up the lie that everything was fair in the past and is fair presently. They want know competitors or auditors.

Gorbychev's wife a Sociologists in the good ole USSR studied the class system under the communists in Russia. It existed. Do we not see that it exists in Cuba and Esrich is in one of the top classes?

Esrich is a very Germanic name. It has the Indo-European name king in it. That is rich is synonymous with ric or rex or raj.

I am willing to bet that Esrich, although he is mostly Hispanic by DNA, is whiter than your average Cuban and much whiter than those Cubans in prison.
