The difference between the lefty political bombers and their depraved acts is that they had organizations and now, forty years plus later, they have people romanticizing them and making movies and documentaries about them, as if they were simply young college kids tearing the goalposts down, while the Timothy McVeighs of the world acted individually or in isolated groups of two or three, without any backup groups or organizations, and have been roundly excoriated and condemned since they committed their sick acts.

So the distinction seems to be the same old one, that the Left somehow gets a pass on its bestial crimes, while the individual loonies don't. I guess it's because the Left supposedly had its heart in the right place as they bombed, shot, robbed, and otherwise bullied their way into history in the name of love and peace.

One would think that in this age where terrorism's face is more apparent, the acts of these people, rather than glorified, would be seen no less different than those like McVeigh or Atta who seek to destroy democracy for an ideology, and who are justly condemned.

In some places, they celebrate terrorists, even pay them when in jail. Seems these terrorists have cashed in differently, but reap rewards from their wrongful actions.

The leftist culture involves totalitarianism. There is no freedom in a communist system. Look at North Korea. People are starving there and doing without the basics of life. The Weather Underground consisted of leftist criminal terrorists. They made statements with explosive devices. The anti war crowd of the 60's were not anti war they were anti-American. Many of them were not aware of it at the time. Many were aware.

The Weatherperson they honored was Katherine Boudin, who was one of the makers of the bomb to be used to blow up some Army personnel and their civilian guests at Fort Dix that instead blew up the bomb makers.
Building a shrapnel-filled bomb intended specifically to be detonated at a Fort Dix dance to be attended by enlisted personnel and their civilian dates was no mistake.

The only mistake they made on that one was the mistake that caused the bomb to be detonated in the Greenwich Village townhouse before it was to be used, blowing up the guilty instead of the innocent.

There were other bomb-making non-mistakes too. Also some bank robberies that can hardly be classified as mistakes, like the Crocker Bank robbery, in which Kathleen Soliah (later known by her cover name of Sara Jane Olsen) kicked a pregnant woman in the stomach as she lay on the floor, causing a miscarriage -no mistake there- and shooting innocent bystander Myrna Opsahl to death -that one doesn't sound like a mistake either.

I doubt that one can call kicking a pregnant woman (who did nothing to the robbers) in the stomach can be rightly characterized as a moment of excess revolutionary fervor - it sounds more like just plain depraved criminal nastiness.

These people were college-educated people with above-average IQs. They claimed to be acting in the name of peace and compassion. THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THEY WERE DOING. The old Jefferson Airplane song, "We Can Be Together" expresses how they thought:

"We are all outlaws in the eyes of America
In order to survive we steal, cheat, lie, forge, f**k, hide, and deal
We are obscene, lawless, hideous, dangerous, dirty, violent, and young..."

"We are forces of chaos and anarchy
Everything they say we are, we are
And we are very proud of ourselves."

THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING IN THE WATER THEY DRINK, IN HOLLYWOOD, THAT IS CAUSING THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR
IS REDFORD LOSING HIS MIND. TO HONOR OR GLORIFY THE WEATHER UNDERGROUND HAS GOT TO BE ABSURD, BUT THEN COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY HONORED ONE OF THE WEATHER UNDERGROUND MEMBERS TOO.
THIS COUNTRY IS LEANING TO THE LEFT, OR IS IT LISTING TO THE LEFT. IN ANY CASE, IT IS NOT VERY BECOMING.
