Obama to Boehner: Drop Dead

Matthew Vadum is an award-winning investigative reporter and the author of the book, "Subversion Inc.: How Obama’s ACORN Red Shirts Are Still Terrorizing and Ripping Off American Taxpayers."

120912obama_boehner_dngnkPresident Obama has rejected a proposed compromise from House Republicans that could have helped to end the congressional standoff that led to the now 11-day-old partial federal government shutdown.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) pitched a “clean” six-week increase with nothing in return to the community organizer in the White House and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).

As Big Government’s Matthew Boyle reports,

“Obama’s and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s decision to completely reject any offer of a compromise from House Republicans confirms what most conservatives already know: Obama will not negotiate on anything (he has said as much numerous times over the past couple of weeks) unless he faces consequences for failing to do so.”

The entirely predictable response from the nation’s top Democrats throws a public spotlight on their intransigence, and in particular, on Obama’s refusal to compromise on anything, unless he’s harming America by shredding the nation’s nuclear deterrent or extending a welcoming hand to the al-Qaeda operatives who murdered nearly 3,000 Americans on 9/11.

Conservatives had been hoping Republicans would use the leverage GOP leadership doesn’t seem to realize it has in Congress to kill Obamacare or at least throw a few wrenches in the works.

Republicans’ reasonableness and generosity (with other people’s money) was rewarded with a swift kick in the teeth.

Boehner apparently succumbed to the relentless stream of horror propaganda from the fiscally illiterate Chicken Littles of the mainstream media and went to Obama with a no-strings attached “temporary” debt ceiling increase. Of course, there is no reason to grovel before Obama who has a pathetic 37 percent approval rating at the moment as Americans recoil from the president’s petty shutdown-related torments but Republicans did it anyway.

Obama and his lieutenants had laid down a marker, falsely claiming that the government wouldn’t be able to meet its obligations if the debt ceiling wasn’t raised by Oct. 17. Then Obama’s former campaign manager turned senior adviser David Plouffe upped the ante by throwing a temper tantrum on Twitter, screeching that Republicans were traitors for refusing to raise the debt ceiling. The smarmy Plouffe accused House Republicans of “committing economic treason” for not offering unconditional surrender to America’s Marxist president on the debt ceiling issue.

Plouffe didn’t bother to point out that it was just a few short years ago when Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) suggested it was treasonable to raise the debt ceiling. When President George W. Bush sought an increase in federal borrowing authority Obama said at the time that to do so would be “unpatriotic.” But times have changed and consistency has never been a condition that afflicts Saul Alinsky devotees.

And there is no possibility of default, as Moody’s, the Wall Street rating agency says. The only person who can cause a default is President Obama if he re-orders the government’s payment priorities. Right now more than enough revenue is coming in to cover interest payments on the national debt.

Republican thinking yesterday was that punting the debt fight till late November would be a good strategic move that would allow the congressional GOP to focus all its energies on undermining Obamacare in the interim. It could at least be argued that piling another trillion dollars or so in government debt on top of at least $16.74 trillion in already outstanding debt would be worthwhile if there’s a possibility it will afford patriotic lawmakers an opportunity to strangle Obama’s unholy offspring in its crib.

Heritage Action CEO Mike Needham, who has been pushing hard to defund Obamacare, said the GOP should let Obama have his so-called clean debt limit increase so conservatives can turn their attention to the partial government shutdown and Obamacare.

Under another approach, Republicans could simply go into hibernation and allow Obamacare to go forward. This would let Americans bear the full brunt of this hideous usurpation of civil society. The hope is that public opposition would mushroom to torch-and-pitchfork levels that would force repeal. It is a superficially appealing plan until one realizes that no major entitlement program has ever been repealed once entrenched.

But it’s a problem that benefits are being implemented early in the process. If people get used to the “sugar,” as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) puts it, they are likely to support Obamacare. With each passing day and every new benefit, the people who get the goodies aren’t going to want to give them up and they’ll get awfully upset at anyone who tries to take them away. This is the animating principle of the welfare state. If you think it’s hard to curb government spending now, just wait till the future when the program kicks into high gear.

Republicans could also try to delay the individual mandate for a year, embark on a consciousness-raising adventure, and then pray they crush Democrats in next year’s congressional elections. Under the best of circumstances, the GOP still wouldn’t achieve the supermajority it needs to overcome a presidential veto of repeal legislation in America’s sclerotic House of Lords. On the other hand, every bit of pressure helps to weaken Obama and his signature monstrosity.

Meanwhile, at the end of last month the federal government’s total debt brushed up against the debt ceiling, weighing in at $16.74 trillion, which is slightly more than the $16.66 trillion gross domestic product figure (on an annualized basis) for the second quarter.

Other arms of the U.S. government “own” 28.4 percent of the debt, or roughly $4.76 trillion. Like all federal government accounting this is sleight-of-hand, a fiction that increases the money supply and further debases the greenback.

Former SEC chairman Chris Cox and former House Ways and Means Committee chairman Bill Archer (R-Texas) say the true debt level is five times the official figure.

“The actual liabilities of the federal government—including Social Security, Medicare, and federal employees’ future retirement benefits—already exceed $86.8 trillion, or 550% of GDP,” according to Cox and Archer. “For the year ending Dec. 31, 2011, the annual accrued expense of Medicare and Social Security was $7 trillion. Nothing like that figure is used in calculating the deficit. In reality, the reported budget deficit is less than one-fifth of the more accurate figure.”

Some economists say it’s a lot more than that, even more than $210 trillion, or roughly triple the annual economic output of every single person on the planet Earth combined.

Such a colossal sum could never be repaid even if the U.S. government imposed 100 percent income tax rates on Americans and invaded its neighbors and siphoned their wealth.

Although a real, live default is still probably far off in the future, Americans ought to be nervous that investors’ appetite for U.S. public debt appears to be tapering off.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. said Thursday that its money market funds have dumped all of their short-term U.S. government debt in an attempt to limit exposure. The mega-bank reportedly said, “its money market funds no longer held any U.S. Treasurys that mature or have payments scheduled between Oct. 16 and Nov. 6.”

On Wednesday Fidelity Investments said it no longer possesses U.S. Treasurys that fall due when the government maxes out on borrowing.

“While JPMorgan Chase & Co. says it believes the probability of a U.S. government default is low, it’s taking precautionary measures to protect investors,” the news report indicated.

Wall Street knows the borrowing can’t go on indefinitely.

He’s rejecting a proposed compromise from House Republicans that could help to end the congressional standoff? Now why would you want the US to default?

The effect of a US default would have massive consequences for the world and this POS could care less.

This only confirms that this POS Muslime POTUS is really out to ruin the USA.

    • wildjew

If there is a default, it will be Obama’s default since his Treasury Secretary chooses what gets prioritized; veteran’s memorials and benefits or Obama’s golf course.

    • Fritz

Re-read the article, there can’t be a default by NOT raising the debt ceiling, the debt servicing costs are already built into federal spending. It’s a false narrative that conservatives should stop falling for and accepting.

    • http://www.pantanolaw.com/ PantanoLaw.com

There cannot possibly be a default unless Obama violates the Constitution and federal law yet again and refuses to pay our creditors. The federal government will continue to collect more than $200 billion dollars every month in taxes whether or not we raise the debt ceiling. This is far more than enough to pay the monthly debt service payments and most of the rest of government. And for John Boehner and other Republicans to be repeating this lie is a disgrace. They know it is a lie, and they go along with it to give themselves cover when they surrender to Obama.

  • wildjew

We have Sean Hannity syndicated here in our region. Every day Hannity has Republicans (both conservative Republicans and wavering Republicans) on his program telling them to “hold the line” and not cave-in to Barack Obama. Yesterday he had Senator Rand Paul on his afternoon program. Sen. Paul was promoting the “Penny Plan” which would reportedly balance the federal budget in two years by using just a 1 percent reduction in overall spending. Like many Republicans, Paul said if Obama wanted to be remembered as a truly great president he would support this plan or one similar to it. Why do Republicans think Obama wants what is best for this country? Why do Republican leaders continue under the illusion that Obama, like other past presidents, is interested in compromise? How can there be negotiations and compromise with a totalitarian demagogue? I am not making a direct historic comparison here (there are no perfect historic comparisons) but didn’t Neville Chamberlain learn that lesson at a terrific cost?

  • Adheeb

His goal is to wreck the country.

    • Harry Black

Uh, I think it’s Boehner who, without a plan, will wreck the country–or at least try to do so. Face it: the Republican position is falling apart, the party is falling apart. Americans are moderates, not conservatives, and not the hyper-conservatives who inhabit this website. They reelected Obama, which is to say they expressed their confidence that the Affordable Care Act will work. What Boehner et al. fear is that Americans will actually like Obamacare. Meanwhile, the longer the Republicans try to blackmail the country to nullify a law that has been deemed Constitutional, the more Republican poll numbers will plummet. Two possible outcomes: 1) the Republican Party splits between moderates and Tea Party fanatics; 2) the American people increasingly reject the Party of Gridlock and No at the voting booth despite gerrymandering, voter suppression, and all the other Republican dirty legislative tricks.

      • Adheeb

        People lie, numbers don’t.

Even Democrats have called ObamaCare a ‘train wreck’ … interestingly they’ve all gotten off the train and are unwilling to go down with the ship. They’ve arranged the same for their financial backers and friends as well. As far as the budget goes, we are still waiting for the first of these to be submitted by the President and be approved by Congress. This is an annual Presidential obligation which Obama has yet to fulfill although he’s been President since 2009. Why should anyone trust Mr.Obama with a credit-card without limits.

The truth is, Obama like both his parents is a communist and does, in fact, want to wreck the country.

        • Harry Black

Truth is no such thing. You have no idea what a communist is. Obama is in fact a centrist and his object is to save the capitalist system, not destroy it. Single-payer health care would do even more to save the system because it would distribute costs evenly across the board and eliminate wasteful bureaucracy and insurance company middlemen, but even Obamacare will in the long run reduce costs for employers.

As in the old Soviet Union, so the tactic of the authoritarian left is to falsely describe those who dare to disagree with them as mentally ill. Which is why the Obamarx Administration is busy try to declare as many vets and gun owners incompetent as it possibly can.

Let’s see, his mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was a card carrying member of the CPUSA. As a senator, Obama had the most partisan, left-wing voting record. His administration has contained more far left-wing, including self-admitted Marxists, individuals than any other (well, maybe FDR came close). Obama is possibly more centrist than Gorbachev, but not much.

          • The March Hare

Don’t forget, not only Frank Marshall Davis was a card carrying communist, Valerie Jarrett the presidential advisor came from a communist family. Her grandfather was Robert Taylor from Chicago and was in the same communists groups as Frank Marshall Davis. She married Dr. Robert William Jarrett, son of Vern Jarrett, a Chicago communist and associate of Frank Marshall Davis. David Axelrod’s mother edited a communist newspaper in New York and Axelrod was noticed by and mentored by David Canter, a life long communist educated in Stalin’s Soviet Union 1932-37, and his associate Don Rose, a leftist activist involved with Canter. Then there is Van Jones who admitted he became a communist in 1992 after the LA riots when he met other communists in jail. This is just some of his administration. All the rest fit right in there as well.

          • Drakken

Your utter stupidity knows no bounds, you think that obummer is a centrist? That must make you far left of center and in your convoluted logic the conservatives must move even further left than they are now, just so you can be a happy little leftist/progressive. The simple fact is, you don’t understand simple economics and bought into the leftist narrative that Obummer care is the greatest thing ever. What our leftist in chief is doing is running this country into the economic abyss and your cheering for it. Having govt take over the heath care in this country is moving to socialism and the left have read Lenin’s book and are following it to the letter.

          • Harry Black

And I thought the Republicans attempting to blackmail the president and refusing to raise the debt ceiling were the ones “runing the country into the economic abyss.” Silly me.

          • Harry Black

Let’s see: Does Obama belong to a communist party? No! Did he ever belong to a communist party? No! Has he taken over American industry? No. (In fact he’s helped bail out key corporations.) Has he effected the downward transfer of wealth? No. (The 99% are getting poorer, the 1% are getting richer. Income polarization under this “communist” is at an all-time high.) So he’s really just secretly a communist. He’s hiding his communist tendencies. It’s a conspiracy.

          • Fritz

Um, if you don’t consider General Motors nationalized, which you probably do not, then no. In case you haven’t figured it out, government bailing out and handing out welfare to banks and industry is socialism. Perhaps it is not communist but it is most definitely socialist.

          • Harry Black

It’s the corporate state, not socialism. Socialism means sharing the wealth. I haven’t noticed that the bailed out banks cut me a percentage. But GM did turn a profit for the government. Btw, Bush II began the bailouts. I guess he’s a socialist in your book.

          • SCREW SOCIALISM

          • ziggy zoggy

Harry Sack, There is no such thing as a corporate state and socialism is not defined by sharing “the wealth.” It is defined by state control of industries, you indoctrinated ignoramus.

GM did NOT turn a profit for the government. That is just another leftist lie from an endless list.

Do you ever get tired of having your idiotic left-wing talking points ripped to shreds? Do you have the minimum intelligence necessary to realize you are harming your warped cause by pasting your idiotic comments here?

What am I asking? Of course not. Lefties all live in fantasy land.

          • Fritz

I don’t happen to care for W’s level of mismanagement either, so you can forget about that as a straw man, the bank bailouts should not have happened, period. The Federal support should have ended with the FDIC insured depositors, the shareholders assumed the risks when they bought the shares.

The fact remains that it was B.O who put the G.M bailout together, whereby the UAW was put ahead of secured creditors and also made a shareholder. As for G.M returning a profit the largest single purchaser of G.M built vehicles is the U.S government. This is like claiming that your daughter made a profit with he lemonade stand when you bought the supplies she is making the lemonade with, and then you buy the lemonade from her one cup at a time.
Then we have the cash for clunkers fiasco, which by some estimates took 700,000 used vehicles permanently off the road. Some actually were junkers but many could have become affordable transportation to lower income families. The dealers were required to destroy the engines of the vehicles traded in so they could not be resold, reducing the engines to lumps of scrap metal. Plus, thanks to the arbitrary disposal deadlines, most could not even be parted out to keep other cars going. So you had tax, or borrowed, dollars subsidizing the purchase of new cars, and needlessly junking many serviceable used vehicles in the process.

In his books, Obama admits attending “socialist conferences” He had several communist mentors.

Obama’s grandfather introduced him to Frank Marshall Davis, a member of the Communist Party, who for ten years acted as Obama’s mentor. They were very close, as close as father and son. Obama called him “Pops” or
“Frank.” The FBI labeled Davis as a radical communist agitator who was “anti-white.”

This is the man who mentored Obama through most of his formative years. Barack Obama was a fully committed communist revolutionary before he left high school

          • Harry Black

As always, action speaks louder than words. Check out Obama’s record as an elected official. And while you’re at it, develop some skepticism regarding the FBI branding blacks “anti-white” and “communist.” That was J Edgar Hoover’s contribution to the civil rights movement. Or do you believe Martin Luther King was a communist? If so, you probably also believe that Che Guevera’s doppelgaenger now inhabits the White House. Oh, I forgot: you already do.

          • kstev99

OK, I’ll check out his record as an elected official…..oh wait, it shows Total INCOMPETENCE. I can’t say that he is an actual communist, but I’m just saying that several of his mentors were members of the communist party. That surely carried over to Barry. regardless of what he is, or his influences, he sure seems determined to destroy this country, our constitution, and our freedoms.

          • Harry Black

            J. Edgar Hoover was right about communist infiltration, and he was right about King being a Marxist – unless you think King lied when he said he was. You can’t toss out Hoover’s name as though he were an unreliable boogie man, you lazy leftard.

A person making $170,000/yr in the private sector, age 55 with a spouse age 55, and three children in the household ages 21-25, will pay $20,000/yr in premium with ZERO subsidy, while Congressman and their staffers at the same salary will STILL GET A SUBSIDY up to 73% of premium cost. That is because the OPM acted illegally under the direction of Obama to grant them this subsidy. VERY UNFAIR:

            http://laborcenter.berkeley.edu/healthpolicy/calculator/

I am in this $170k category and my premiums are going from $6k/yr to $20k/yr because of this monstrosity. In the mean time, I still have a $350,000 bill from sending my triplets and one other child to college, and I now have one in law shol at $90k/yr. BO is redistributing $13k of my hard earned money, because he determined what was “enough” for me.

This puppy is NEVER going down, as less workers pick up a larger share of the need.

          • Harry Black

If Obama and the Dems had opted for single payer rather than the mishmash that is Obamacare, which pays off the thieves at big pharma and big insurance, health insurance would cost everyone a lot less. Still, Obamacare beats not having any health insurance, which is what millions of Americans now have.

          • allessior

Then that’s the problem that should have been fixed. Don’t ruin the plans of 83% of the public in the process, and basically steal money, in my case $13,000, for someone else. Free market alternatives to fix the issue with the uninsured is the answer, not socialism. Those 100,000 in NJ had the low-premium plans and they were perfectly happy with them, but now, their only option is the Exchange, which makes healthcare unaffordable for them. Unbelievable.

          • Harry Black

I’m sorry you have to pay so much and that you think it unfair, but we’ve tried the free market for years, with insurers and big pharma and hospitals reaping huge profits, while millions go uninsured. But the root of so much conservative resentment is the idea that those who earn money are through there taxes supporting thieves and loafers, who somehow are enjoying the good life at public expense–essentially an updated version of Reagan’s racist welfare queen myth–doesn’t stand up to close scrutiny. Healthcare should be free and available to everyone–not via complicated exchanges in which everyone ends up with a different but through traditional sources of government funding (income taxes, etc.). Call it socialism but it beats Obamacare which in turn beats no care for millions.

          • allessior

Nobody us enjoying a goid life here. I came out of a ghetto and fought my way up. You don’t have a right to that. I have been thru the mill, nobody handing me anything, ever. What free market? If 83% of people were happy with their health plan, then you don’t ruin everybody’s ‘health care” to cover 17% of the uninsured, which btw consists mainly of illegal aliens and young Americans who DON’T WANT insurance. Besides, if the government had simply stepped aside and allowed “inter-state” insurance, then we would have had truer free market. In fact, if the government gets completely out of the way, by first allowing inter-state policiesrand by reducing its’ regulations, then, and ONLY THEN, we will have TRUE FREE MARKET. Those 17% will have more low cost insurance than they could ever use. Instead, the heavy hand if the government is acting like Robin Hood, stealing private property, our money, from those who played by the rules, worked hard, lifted themselves out of poverty, and who need the money for THEIR FAMILIES. I GIVE more of my money to charity, to help those who are down, just as I was. In fact, Americans GIVE OF THEIR OWN WILL like no peoples in this world. STOP thinking that stealing our money solves problems, it doesn’t. Tell those $100,000 low income folks in NJ who had their low budget health plans removed right from under their noses, because of OCare. These were below-middle class, who were perfectly happy with those plans. Yet, the government, including Obama, who is stealing their money, my money, PROMISED US MANY TIMES, THAT. “If you like your plan, you can keep it.” Tell that to the 100,000. Wake up bro, there is NO FREE LUNCH. Just like they came for me, stole my sweat and tears, took it out of the mouths of my triplets, my four children, and my wife, we who finally made it out of poverty, he will in turn come for you.

          • Harry Black

The free market (or FREE MARKET) would allow those hyper-profiteers, the insurance companies and the drug companies to run wild. They’ve already pretty much ruined health care for everyone. Single payer is the way to go. Conservatives believe the free market is some sort of universal panacea. It’s not. We’d be back to the days of William McKinley when life expectancy for most people hovered around 47%. I note that Robin Hood stole from the rich to give to the poor. Nothing wrong with that IMHO. You say you aren’t rich so your not part of the Robin Hood Story.

          • allessior

You are living in fantasy land. The majority of Americans were satisfied with their insurance and their healthcare:

            http://themorningconsult.com/summary-memo-on-national-poll-findings-of-public-opinion-on-u-s-healthcare-system/

This is the problem with the administration. They are “solving problems that don’t exist.”

There were estimated to be 53 million uninsured prior to the implementation of OCare. Of that, about 7,000 were illegal, and many young people simply did not want to pay it. All told, we are talking about 36million uninsured out of a US population of 315 million as of Jan, 2014. That is 11.43% of the US Population.

So, we ruin health insurance and healthcare for the entire 315,000,000 instead of working on a solution for the 36,000,000. Brilliant.

          • Harry Black

Health insurance was already ruined for many if most Americans. Obamacare will be an improvement–or is that what the Republicans are afraid of? You have your figures, I have mine: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/07/11/the-gop-is-terrified-obamacare-could-be-a-success.html

          • allessior

No, i have reality. My premiums are going up from $6k per yr to $20k per yr, no subsidy. My colleagues, the same. I already showed you that 174,000 veterans just got letters saying they are being dropped, same with 100,000 lower income citizens in NJ. You don’t turn the entire universe in its head for 11% of the population. You focus on the 11%. What’s worse, millions are being converted to part time because of OCare, abd millions are being laid off. There is no disputing this.

The difference between most Americans and you is that we have the actual experience behind us, vs your “concept” of what may be occurring but which isn’t. These numbers that I site from Forbes and others come direcltly from the Fed Government’s own data and are consistent with the actual experience of Americans.

One other important point: we, the American Patriots, believe in the individual, capitalism, and leaving government to its enumerated powers. Healthcare is way out of bounds for the Feds.

Sorry, you lose on all fronts.

          • Harry Black

As I said earlier, I’m no fan of Obamacare although it beats free enterprise medicine. Single payer would be a far better solution for all Americans, even exemplary patriots like yourself. You may love capitalism, but it’s capitalism that’s screwing you over on health insurance. Obamacare didn’t get rid of the insurance companies, their bureaucracies and their ballooning profits, nor did it cut out all the other businesses that profit big time from sickness and disease. (In fact, Obama made a deal with big pharma as a precondition for their support in passing the ACA.)These corporations are screwing you, but you still love capitalism, which is to say you are in love with the people who are wrecking your family’s finances. It takes a heap of masochism to love those who are exploiting you and ruining your life, but historical examples abound. If you had a better grip on your own psychic economy, you wouldn’t be getting mad at folks like me who question the system, but at corporations that put profit above everything and don’t give a damn if they make your and everyone’s life a misery as long as they get their dough. More often than not, patriotism, as officially defined, stands for the defense of profit über alles. As Americans we deserve better.

The only thing wrecking my finances is the Congress and the President. Record deficits yr over yr, record accumulating debt, liberal policies that ignore debt limits and keep spending so that all of our taxes go through the roof. Without a profit system, there is no good life for anybody. The USA’s capitalist system has literally made modern life possible, that is, a civilized society vs. an overwhelmingly tyrannical society. Even in my native Italy and in Greece, we see the socialist system falling apart, with the people literally putting their hard earned money under the mattress. Our system, which was originated as one of limited government and the sovereignty of the people has now morphed into a “socialist paradise” where half of the country is now on sone form of welfare. Eventually, this too will crumble and violence will prevail. As Margaret Thatcher said, “with Socialism, you eventually run out of other people’s money to spend.”

You just don’t understand how advanced and progressive societies are made possible. History has shown that the only self-sustaining system of government that works is one where the government is limited, and the private sector is able to flourish, generating inventions and capital, providing the highest standard of living possible. There is no better system. There is no such thing as a sustained government without free enterprise. This ICare is a socialist concept, ultimately leading to single payer, your utopia. When we reach that point, the government has complete control over your life, and it wont matter if you work or not. Nearly 109% of your income will be needed to feed that monster.

          • Harry Black

Since you claim to be a student of “history” and its immutable lessons, need I remind you of the horrors of old fashioned free enterprise? Or the fact that “free” enterprise in the US depends upon a host of government programs. These days the taxpayers make up for Walmart’s starvation wages with food stamps and Medicaid. But Walmart is touted as a triumph of “free” enterprise. Meanwhile, Neanderthal Republicans cut foodstamps and want to bring back child labor. If, as you claim, we need more free enterprise and more limited government, then what will be “sustained” is a winner-take-all society in which workers starve or die from treatable diseases, poverty is forever on the rise, art and science are confined to elite universities, etc. Civilization? A latter-day Ayn Rand, crouching behind the walls of her gated community, would be proud.

What benefits the big government political machine, such as voting fraud and character assassination of their opponents, does not benefit the electorate. What harms the electorate, such as spending fraud and inciting contention, benefits the political machine greatly.

The electorate favored Mitt Romney’s ideas of tax-free manufacturering and asking ourselves should we borrow from China for each line item in the budget.

Mitt Romney brought bipartisanship deficent reduction to Massachusetts. Rudy Giuliani brought safety and prosperity to New York. The idea of change starting intrinisically in the person instead of externally from bueracratic insitutions brings great productivity to Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin and New Jersey.

For the past two decades, out of their insecurity from the failures of the Great Society, Democrats gloat over successfully destroying the political careers of good politicians. Their failure to see success in conflict brings about as much destruction, if not more, in defeat quickly becomes their undoing.

Governements exist for humanity, not humanity for government. This principle extends throughout the entire culture of our collective humanity. Violations of martial conflict subjugating culturally humanity always end in disaster.

Last time I checked, the UK was doing alright. And because the UK has single payer health care, life expectancy for Brits is higher than ours. Ditto Canada, Australia, and Japan. They also beat the US. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-14070090

          • ziggy zoggy

The health system in the UK is a horror of waiting lists and their life expectancy rate is lower than the US, even with all the Latins here who die in their fifties. UK hospitals are so bad they suffer have epidemic staff infection fatalities.

If you factor in mortality rates for Whites and Asians only, America has a lower mortality rate than Australia and it’s the same as Canada’s. Japan has a controlled and isolated population that is 99% ethnic Japanese with no influx of immigrants with low life expectancy rates, so no country will ever match its low mortality rate.

Social Security needs some serious revamping because the government cannot meet it’s current obligations. Medicare and Medicaid are roaring successes if you believe fraud as an enterprise is a good thing.

          • Scrap Iron

Pyramid funding schemes always look like great successes to the first ones to get involved (it is essential to the con being pulled on everyone) but in the end they are a fraud scheme that does not deliver except for those who got in early. And it is done so at the expense of everyone else who represents the vast majority. There is a huge unpaid liability that will not be paid back anywhere near in full. Vast dollars have been paid into these systems by the baby boomers (and others after them) and they will not be getting the same treatment that they were supposed to get. They already have started to play games to avoid admitting its a fraud. Like moving out the retirement date to start collecting SS. Just keep moving the date out so that those who were forced to pay in will never get to collect or will collect for only a few short years.

          • Harry Black

Social security is entirely viable as numerous studies have shown. It’s no pyramid scheme. As for supporting Medicare and Medicaid: cut back on massive unnecessary military spending, tax the rich at a reasonable rate (i.e., 60-80% for incomes over a $1.5 million), tax stock market transactions, end corporate welfare, and you eliminate the deficit in ten years and balance the budget.

Ah, the trickle down theory. It didn’t work when Bush II reduced taxes for the wealthy a decade ago. It won’t work now. What the economy needs is stimulus money, not turning over more of the loot to the already ultra-rich who, contrary to your claim, do not “produce jobs.” The Bush tax cuts have been in place for a decade and we see the results: income polarization to a degree not seen since the1920s, middle class jobs disappearing, and increasingly a low wage economy. Congrats.

Numerous studies have shown that space aliens use butt probes on people like you. Please explain how a program that is tens of trillions in ever growing debt can be paid for with the paltry billions that fund it. Ditto for Medicare and Medicaid.

Obama could steal every penny “the rich” and corporations have, and it still wouldn’t cover the deficit. All it would do is destroy the moneymakers. Taxing stock market transactions wouldn’t raise enough revenue to cover Michelle’s next Air Force one junket but would discourage transactions.

HA! HA! HA! “Muslime dictator.” That’s some funny stuff, cowboy. Have you always been stupid, or is this a recent development?

          • Drakken

I see that a window licker like you missed the short bus. Only useful idiots like you who think they just didn’t get communism right that it can actually work, well good luck with that.

          • Harry Black

A good example of unintended consequences. At least the Republicans are beginning to pay a price for their shutdown and for all the pain they are causing the American people. One can hope other Republican Neanderthals go the way of Cuccinelli.

          • Curt

Why are you even here, troll? You’re not going to get anyone here to believe your liberal lies, so just go away

Sure, you get paid to troll the web with DNC talking points but you don’t care if other people suffer – even if they are in the 37% of your fellow Obama supporters. • m4253y

so, harry, in your estimation, if given the choice, would you want a single party country?

        • Harry Black

It’s not my choice, it’s what’s happening. Under Bush II the Republicans fantasized about creating a single-party country. The party would be themselves. Now they’re working hard to create a single-party country by imploding. Busy guys!

          • m4253y

curious Harry, do you see everything along partisan lines or do you give consideration to what is ‘actually’ happening caused by those given the power?

          • Harry Black

It’s not my choice, it’s what’s happening. Under Bush II the Republicans fantasized about creating a single-party country. The party would be themselves. Now they’re working hard to create a single-party country by imploding. Busy guys!

          • m4253y

your personal attacks aside on those patriots here who are willing to stand up and speak to the attacks on liberties, freedoms, and the rights GUARANTEED under the Constitution, would you agree that the current administration has, by its actions via the IRS, the NSA, foreign policy screw ups, etc., done anything wrong?

would you agree that the use of better than 900 executive orders in 5 years is an abuse of power that the constitution and the creation of the 3 branches of government were designed in order to prevent despotism?

let’s speak to facts and leave the innuendo aside. are you capable of that?

          • Harry Black

I didn’t notice too many true patriots here. FP is mainly a bunch of frightened, half literate right wing maniacs hiding behind the American flag (that would be you Ziggy Zoggy). I would add that the Obama administration is no worse than the previous administration when it comes to the NSA and foreign policy. At least Obama hasn’t started a new war in the Middle East, although a few weeks ago he came perilously close. That I’m very critical of the Obama administration on many points seems to have escaped the Tea Party party liners here, who project their own one-dimensionality onto anyone who disagrees with them.. But given a choice between Obama and the Tea Party, I’d pick Obama any day.

          • m4253y

“I would add that the Obama administration is no worse than the previous administration when it comes to the NSA and foreign policy.”

IRS abuse of power, NSA spying?

“At least Obama hasn’t started a new war int he Middle East”

            Libya, Egypt???

this is your defense of the current administration? pretty pathetic Harry. Obviously you do not want to speak to the facts which is what i wanted to do. Conversation is over, good luck, you will need it with weak kneed logic as you have sadly offered.

You call anybody who refuses to conform to failed leftist ideology a maniac when it is clear that you are the one who is deranged.

The NSA did not record every electronic communication made in America when Bush wasvPresident, you fucking lunatic. Obama started wars in Pakistan, Yemen, Libya and Mauritania – and tried to bomb Assad in Syria because the weapons he’s shipped to Al Qaeda in the “Free Syrian Army” haven’t been enough to overthrow the secular Assad.

Did you think the whole world failed to notice?

Your idea of criticizing Obamarx is……….nothing. You have done nothing but praise him, you lying sack of $hit.

The Tea Party is a pro-constitutional grass roots movement. Other than being a commie totalitarian wannabe, what do you have against the Constitution.

Your projection and lies are even more offensive than your ideology. Of course, that is why you and your fellow travelers always lie: If you told the truth about your ideology and actions, the vast majority of the public would reject both.

Prove me wrong. Refute a single thing I wrote. We both know you can’t. You don’t even have the minimal integrity necessary to try.

      • ziggy zoggy

        Harry Troll,

Spare us the Dem talking points. This isn’t the HuffPo so spouting idiotic slogans doesn’t work here. Reid and Obama refuse to pass any bills passed by the House, which is responsible for all revenue raising bills and funding. Not that I would expect a left-winger to actually understand the government procedures and laws she stupidly argues about.

The majority of registered and eligible voters sat out the last two elections. America absolutely did not elect Obama either time and electing somebody is not an endorsement of his every policy, whim and tantrum. “Law of the land” is an empty and incredibly stupid DNC slogan and not a fact.

The longer Obama tries to blackmail the country by punishing citizens with his phony shutdown, the more they will hate him and his Dem fellow travelers. Even with polls designed to help him he is at a six try three percent unpopularity rate.

Leftist projection about fanaticism, gerrymandering, voter suppression and dirty tricks doesn’t work here.

You really are too stupid to realize this, aren’t you? You are obviously a paid troll so I hope your paymasters read your failed attempts to score points here. As a federal employee you can’t be fired no matter how incompetent you are but you can be reassigned to a web sight like Stormfront.

        • Harry Black

“The longer Obama tries to blackmail the country by punishing citizens with his phony shutdown, the more they will hate him and his Dem fellow travelers.” Check the polls. Even John McCain on Fox admits that Republican poll numbers are at a new low. Your party is going down the tubes.

          • m4253y

            KEEP ON TROLLING

          • ziggy zoggy

The polls that were conducted to give Obama a boost have him at a abysmal 37% approval rate. That means loonies and liars are the only ones who claim to approve of him.

Quoting a Republican and Fox to bolster a phony argument is fallacious argumentation. The only sort you lefties know.

You leftrolls have been predicting Republican doom for hundreds of years. You never screech louder than before a Republican victory.

You don’t realize it because you’re a mouth frothing fanatic, but as bad as the Repubs are, at least they care about America. The Dems only care about political power and yes, most of them hate America. That is why they want to “fundamentally transform” it. I’m actually glad that Obama slipped up and admitted that. If somebody cares about something, they don’t want to change it beyond recognition. I already knew you scum were out to destroy the Constitution and the country my Founders built, so it’s good to have my knowledge verified publicly by the Fraud in Chief.

If you have faith that the Dems will sweep the Senate and House next year you’re insane. But we already knew that.

They don’t even want it themselves!
Now what could possibly be wrong with it that they exempt themselves and their “crronnies”, muslims and big business????
The gop is afraid., rather know it will wreck our already fragile economy, that has grown very little, except govmt positions, in 5 years.
a lot of dems do not want it but are sfraid to speak out, except a few with some backbone!
Talk abiut dirty little tricks…obamacare was one of the dems.
they passed it and did not even read it!

Proven a lie, the Republicans got the house, via tea party, and will likely get the Senate. If you continue to listen to the Alphabet channels you’ll think this impossible, but look a little closer, the majority of the people don’t want Obamacare and the majority’s disapproval of the Republicans are the RINO’s who will be voted out and the Ted CRUZ type voted in, look at the reasoned polls. Tea party took the House and now with them having sole power of the purse have to negotiate with criminals that threw old people out of their homes closed WWII monuments even took the handles off of water fountains, these things belong to the people, not the illegal Alien that’s a temporary occupant of the White House that has not an ounce of leadership abilities,

agree 100%. it is the left who are on the run as they realize the lsm cannot smooth over the electorate with disinformation 5 years in with the same old same old. the public has by and large realized they made a mistake in the first election, and in the second election, depending on who you believe, the Resident of the white house won 52% of the vote of 126 million who voted, little more than than one third of the country. now that is definitely a majority.

the senate will be won and congress with the senate will overturn and ‘tame’ the beast to his muslime knees for his FINAL 2 years. that is fact.

Greece and Portugal and Spain are on the ropes because their governments imposed austerity. Imposing austerity here would have the same effect. We have a very dangerous, socialist, anti-American president doing his very best to dismantle America as we have known it, and replace it with a weaker, poorer, less influential Marxist police state.

He ignores the Constitution, embraces Islamic terrorists as our “friends” who want to kill all of us, and alienates our traditional allies. He will undoubtedly be remembered as the most incompetent and worst president EVER! His job is to undermine everything Americans have held sacred since 1776. Wait until 2016. You ain’t seen nothin’ yet! Hopefully the masses will wake up by then and realize his “hope and change” means “tyranny and destruction.” He will have kept his promise to “transform” America.

    • zoomie

Yeah, I saw his movie. Fascinating how Dinesh is completely off the airwaves, gone, down the memory hole.

      • http://subversioninc.com Matthew Vadum

D’Souza’s suddenly low profile likely has a lot to do with his marital complications. See http://www.wnd.com/2012/10/dsouzas-downfall-the-story-behind-the-story/. He’s taken quite a beating from social conservatives.

        • vulgar_imposter

Yeah, he’s a freakin’ idiot. Another mouth-foaming conservative who has allowed his obessive hatred of Obama to ruin his life. You guys should probably take heed.

            Thanks…not.

    • wildjew

Why are Republicans in retreat before this very dangerous anti-American socialist president? Does Dinesh D’Souza say? I read all these books on Barack Obama, especially written by people of faith (Christian believers) and they never venture a guess why this anti-American socialist is crushing his political enemies.

      • http://subversioninc.com Matthew Vadum

An excellent question. A lot of it has to do with Republicans’ irrational, inordinate fear of being smeared as “racists.”

        • wildjew

Why do Republican leaders have (or fear they have) the self-image of being racists unless they ARE racists? Not too often — every now and then a leftist tries to tell me the reason I hate Obama is because I am a racist or a Tea Party racist. The accusation is not sustainable and if they will stay with me and reason it out they soon learn how wrong they are. Why should someone who is not a racist be moved one way or the other by a false accusation? It makes no sense.

          • ziggy zoggy

            Fear. Conditioning. Weakness. Stupidity.

      • ziggy zoggy

He has every powerful media outlet except Fox promoting him 24/7. The media are the modern King makers. The average person is bombarded with pro Obama propaganda every single day. It’s extremely difficult to see past this barrage of bull$hit. Some people spend their whole lives buried under it.

If you doubt me, ask yourself: What would happen to a Republican President who did the things Obama has done?

        • wildjew

I don’t doubt what you are saying. Pro-Obama propaganda does not excuse stupidity any more than pro-Na zi Goebbels propaganda justified German people’s stupidity even as the Allies turned German cities into rubble. After the war, Germans when interviewed (most) said they never supported the Hitler moment. That isn’t what William Shirer wrote.

There is more useful, objective, impartial information available to American citizens than the German people had access to. So we are all the more culpable. Shame on Americans who get all their information from CNN, ABC, MSNBC, etc. It is indicative of an irresponsible or a lazy people.

          • ziggy zoggy

I agree. Every day I wonder what I can do to fight what’s happening and every day I come up empty. All I can think of is trying to convince people to see Obama for what he really is and sending emails to my state and federal representatives, but I’m not doing much good.

I can’t even get my own mother to stop watching Dianne Sawyer on ABC and swooning in rapture every time she sees Barack or Michelle.

I think America is on the way down. If we elected a destroyer like Obama once, we will do it again. It’s only a matter of time.

  • DontMessWithAmerica

A tragedy of Shakespearean dimensions! Americans can chose between the
party of idiots who mean well but don’t know how, or the party of evil
which is intent to destroy America. If ever there was a land in which a
military coup was appropriate, America is it!

    • vulgar_imposter

Ha! That’s some funny stuff. The old guy has just suggested treason. Yeah, I’d like to see you and your gun-toting, obese, diabetic friends try to engineer a coup.

      • glpage

Be careful what you wish for, you may not like the result.

Read Points of Rebellion by William O. Douglas. Douglas, by the way, was one of the more liberal folks to sit on the Supreme Court. In his estimation, what that “old guy” suggests is not treason, according to Douglas, it may, in fact, be our obligation. Then again, I seriously doubt you would be able to understand Douglas’ arguments and justifications.

Obama is overstepping his authority again. His Dereliction of Duty demands a Civil Trial in Washington’s Fourth District Court. As the most unscrupulous bastard to occupy the Oval Office, He MUST be removed sooner than later. He is making this great nation the butt of unsavory commentary worldwide, he has singlehandedly ruined our economy, insulted our allies and our veterans. What more must we allow him to do before we hang the Son of a bitch as he fully deserves? Obama’s demagoguery is the worst of any preceding chief executive including Jackson, Wilson, FD Roosevelt or Carter. Had I been on active duty under this nitwit, I believe I would have attempted to execute him. As a good soldier, I have always held the Office of President in a place of respect. Since the current debate of the CR and the debt ceiling is an outgrowth of the fight to defund the ACA, I would like to ask, again, a question. I’ve been asking people about it but have yet to get any actual answer.

I have always heard that Rove v. Wade was based primarily on a Constitutionally discernable “right to privacy”. (Is this true? And specifically what is this right; that is, what does this right constitute?)

My question is: If we have a right to PRIVACY regarding medical care, and this revolves around the government not being able to outlaw a particular medical procedure, because it is a private issue, and therefore not open to governmental inspection or intrusion, how can the government legally, with its ACA, move all medical care under the purview of the government whether to pay for it, to authorize payment, or deny service?

    What have I got wrong?

  • physicsnut

Sorry to inconvenience those who get a paycheck from the govt, and there are some, but do I hear them complaining about Harry Reid’s “the bill is dead on arrival” ? Nope.

They complain bitterly when we have to use the Power of the Purse.

I am getting sick and tired of blabber about the Tea Party when the fact is – it counterbalances the Democratic Socialists of America. Of course Bob Schieffer does not ever mention the Democratic Socialists of America, but you can google that and find that there are plenty of them in Congress. I wonder how come he never mentions that.

But oh dear – commenters go into high dudgeon if one mentions such things.

  • The March Hare

This is phony BS. If we need to borrow money to be able to avoid defaulting on the debt, then there is no way on this earth we could ever have a balanced budget. Which means we will have to go on borrowing money and running up the debt to pay the debt until it inevitably gets so large the economy collapses. Is this a sensible plan???
Do you really mean to tell me there is nothing in our spending that can be cut? You mean we have been in such dire straits all along and are so short on funds we have to borrow money every year, then why is our president spending on lavish vacations, sending money and capital weapons to the Muslim Brotherhood terrorists, investing billions in failing alternate energy get rich quick schemes and dozens upon dozens upon dozens more wasteful spending items?
When this administration was asked about the $500B his Obamacare cut out of Medicare we were told it would be made up from savings by cutting out waste. CUTTING OUT WASTE???? Then, if they knew where there was waste that could be cut out, why didn’t they just cut it then and there??? Did they just plan on continuing the spending on waste until they could start up Obamacare?
This whole situation is like a comedy without the laughs.

Blind obedience is the first sign of psychological conditioning, and the Republican dance to the progressive tune (i.e. the Marxist tune) is the second sign of psychological conditioning, performed by a complicit media acting under orders from a tyrannical DNC. The Republicans and the American people who voted for B.O are under the yoke of conditioned responses and they don’t even realize it !(Shame on you John McCain)

  • bittman

I am hoping the Republicans do not cave. They really have all of the power since the Founding Fathers gave them the power of the purse. They are essentially the Credit Card Company and Obama is the cardholder who has overspent and has asked for his credit ceiling to be raised 3-4 times before but is back again demanding again that his credit card limit be raised. Who has the power?

  • 4sylum_Inm4t3

Anybody else remember back in early 2009, Obama was barely in office when he and all congressional dems (both houses) started yelling the same basic battle-cry of (paraphrased), “No negotiations with republicans, no compromises, no nothing”? And everything from them became “My way or the highway”? And they’ve stuck to it ever since. They are the true “Party of NO” and they know it. But they thought of that great branding label (“Party of NO”) first and pinned it on the republicans so it couldn’t be correctly pinned on them. That’s when the republicans started their “go along to get along” capitulations on everything. I’m glad they’re finally playing the same game back to the democrats. And especially on Obamacare. This is what everything else has been leading up to for the dems. Forget what the RINOs McCain, King, etc. say. They sold themselves (and us) out. Don’t know about Boehner yet personally. But Cruz and Paul have it right. We can’t back down on this. To do so will be to allow Obama’s biggest and most crucial foundation stone towards socialism to be laid just like Dr. Ben Carson pointed out Friday at the Values Voter Summit referencing Lenin saying (paraphrased) “that socialized medicine is the keystone to the establishment of a Socialist state”.

Stand tall, is there not another man in the Republican party other than Ted Cruz? As for the Liberal Socialist media, they are going to trash you anyway for their leftist masters. So you may as well have the guts to do the right thing.
