Since you claim to be a student of "history" and its immutable lessons, need I remind you of the horrors of old fashioned free enterprise? Or the fact that "free" enterprise in the US depends upon a host of government programs. These days the taxpayers make up for Walmart's starvation wages with food stamps and Medicaid. But Walmart is touted as a triumph of "free" enterprise. Meanwhile, Neanderthal Republicans cut foodstamps and want to bring back child labor. If, as you claim, we need more free enterprise and more limited government, then what will be "sustained" is a winner-take-all society in which workers starve or die from treatable diseases, poverty is forever on the rise, art and science are confined to elite universities, etc. Civilization? A latter-day Ayn Rand, crouching behind the walls of her gated community, would be proud.

The only thing wrecking my finances is the Congress and the President. Record deficits yr over yr, record accumulating debt, liberal policies that ignore debt limits and keep spending so that all of our taxes go through the roof. Without a profit system, there is no good life for anybody. The USA's capitalist system has literally made modern life possible, that is, a civilized society vs. an overwhelmingly tyrannical society. Even in my native Italy and in Greece, we see the socialist system falling apart, with the people literally putting their hard earned money under the mattress. Our system, which was originated as one of limited government and the sovereignty of the people has now morphed into a "socialist paradise" where half of the country is now on sone form of welfare. Eventually, this too will crumble and violence will prevail. As Margaret Thatcher said, "with Socialism, you eventually run out of other people's money to spend."

You just don't understand how advanced and progressive societies are made possible. History has shown that the only self-sustaining system of government that works is one where the government is limited, and the private sector is able to flourish, generating inventions and capital, providing the highest standard of living possible. There is no better system. There is no such thing as a sustained government without free enterprise. This ICare is a socialist concept, ultimately leading to single payer, your utopia. When we reach that point, the government has complete control over your life, and it wont matter if you work or not. Nearly 109% of your income will be needed to feed that monster.

As I said earlier, I'm no fan of Obamacare although
it beats free enterprise medicine. Single payer would be a far better solution for all Americans, even exemplary patriots like yourself. You may love capitalism, but it's capitalism that's working you over on health insurance.

Obamacare didn't get rid of the insurance
companies, their bureaucracies and their ballooning profits, nor did it cut out all the other businesses that profit big time from sickness and disease. (In fact, Obama made a deal with big pharma as a precondition for their support in passing the ACA.)

These corporations are exploiting you, but you
still love capitalism, which is to say you are in love with the people who are wrecking your family's finances. It takes a heap of masochism to love those who
are exploiting you and ruining your life, but historical examples abound.

If you had a better grip on your own psychic economy, you wouldn't be getting mad at folks like me who question the system, but at corporations that put profit above everything and don't give a damn if they make your and everyone's life a misery as long as they get their dough. More often than not, patriotism, as officially defined, stands for the defense of profit über alles. As Americans we deserve better.

No, i have reality. My premiums are going up from $6k per yr to $20k per yr, no subsidy. My colleagues, the same. I already showed you that 174,000 veterans just got letters saying they are being dropped, same with 100,000 lower income citizens in NJ. You don't turn the entire universe in its head for 11% of the population. You focus on the 11%. What's worse, millions are being converted to part time because of OCare, abd millions are being laid off. There is no disputing this.

The difference between most Americans and you is that we have the actual experience behind us, vs your "concept" of what may be occurring but which isn't. These numbers that I site from Forbes and others come direcltly from the Fed Government's own data and are consistent with the actual experience of Americans.

One other important point: we, the American Patriots, believe in the individual, capitalism, and leaving government to its enumerated powers. Healthcare is way out of bounds for the Feds.

Sorry, you lose on all fronts.

You are living in fantasy land. The majority of Americans were satisfied with their insurance and their healthcare:

This is the problem with the administration. They are "solving problems that don't exist."

There were estimated to be 53 million uninsured prior to the implementation of OCare. Of that, about 7,000 were illegal, and many young people simply did not want to pay it. All told, we are talking about 36million uninsured out of a US population of 315 million as of Jan, 2014. That is 11.43% of the US Population.

So, we ruin health insurance and healthcare for the entire 315,000,000 instead of working on a solution for the 36,000,000. Brilliant.

I don't happen to care for W's level of mismanagement either, so you can forget about that as a straw man, the bank bailouts should not have happened, period. The Federal support should have ended with the FDIC insured depositors, the shareholders assumed the risks when they bought the shares.

The fact remains that it was B.O who put the G.M bailout together, whereby the UAW was put ahead of secured creditors and also made a shareholder. As for G.M returning a profit the largest single purchaser of G.M built vehicles is the U.S government. This is like claiming that your daughter made a profit with he lemonade stand when you bought the supplies she is making the lemonade with, and then you buy the lemonade from her one cup at a time.
Then we have the cash for clunkers fiasco, which by some estimates took 700,000 used vehicles permanently off the road. Some actually were junkers but many could have become affordable transportation to lower income families. The dealers were required to destroy the engines of the vehicles traded in so they could not be resold, reducing the engines to lumps of scrap metal. Plus, thanks to the arbitrary disposal deadlines, most could not even be parted out to keep other cars going. So you had tax, or borrowed, dollars subsidizing the purchase of new cars, and needlessly junking many serviceable used vehicles in the process.

The free market (or FREE MARKET) would allow those hyper-profiteers, the insurance companies and the drug companies to run wild. They've already pretty much ruined health care for everyone. Single payer is the way to go. Conservatives believe the free market is some sort of universal panacea. It's not. We'd be back to the days of William McKinley when life expectancy for most people hovered around 47%. I note that Robin Hood stole from the rich to give to the poor. Nothing wrong with that IMHO. You say you aren't rich so your not part of the Robin Hood Story.

Nobody us enjoying a goid life here. I came out of a ghetto and fought my way up. You don't have a right to that. I have been thru the mill, nobody handing me anything, ever. What free market? If 83% of people were happy with their health plan, then you don't ruin everybody's 'health care" to cover 17% of the uninsured, which btw consists mainly of illegal aliens and young Americans who DON'T WANT insurance. Besides, if the government had simply stepped aside and allowed "inter-state" insurance, then we would have had truer free market. In fact, if the government gets completely out of the way, by first allowing inter-state policiesrand by reducing its' regulations, then, and ONLY THEN, we will have TRUE FREE MARKET. Those 17% will have more low cost insurance than they could ever use. Instead, the heavy hand if the government is acting like Robin Hood, stealing private property, our money, from those who played by the rules, worked hard, lifted themselves out of poverty, and who need the money for THEIR FAMILIES. I GIVE more of my money to charity, to help those who are down, just as I was. In fact, Americans GIVE OF THEIR OWN WILL like no peoples in this world. STOP thinking that stealing our money solves problems, it doesn't. Tell those $100,000 low income folks in NJ who had their low budget health plans removed right from under their noses, because of OCare. These were below-middle class, who were perfectly happy with those plans. Yet, the government, including Obama, who is stealing their money, my money, PROMISED US MANY TIMES, THAT. "If you like your plan, you can keep it." Tell that to the 100,000. Wake up bro, there is NO FREE LUNCH. Just like they came for me, stole my sweat and tears, took it out of the mouths of my triplets, my four children, and my wife, we who finally made it out of poverty, he will in turn come for you.

I'm sorry you have to pay so much and that you think it unfair, but we've tried the free market for years, with insurers and big pharma and hospitals reaping huge profits, while millions go uninsured. But the root of so much conservative resentment is the idea that those who earn money are through there taxes supporting thieves and loafers, who somehow are enjoying the good life at public expense--essentially an updated version of Reagan's racist welfare queen myth--doesn't stand up to close scrutiny. Healthcare should be free and available to everyone--not via complicated exchanges in which everyone ends up with a different but through traditional sources of government funding (income taxes, etc.). Call it socialism but it beats Obamacare which in turn beats no care for millions.

Then that's the problem that should have been fixed. Don't ruin the plans of 83% of the public in the process, and basically steal money, in my case $13,000, for someone else. Free market alternatives to fix the issue with the uninsured is the answer, not socialism. Those 100,000 in NJ had the low-premium plans and they were perfectly happy with them, but now, their only option is the Exchange, which makes healthcare unaffordable for them. Unbelievable.
