Tom Perez: Obama’s Radical Labor Secretary Nominee

President Obama intends to nominate in-your-face radical lawyer Thomas Perez as his next Secretary of Labor, according to media reports.

Now an assistant attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice, Perez is a former top aide to the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) and possibly a perjurer, which makes him a perfect fit for the ethically-challenged Obama cabinet.

If confirmed, Perez would replace Hilda Solis, a former Democratic congresswoman from Los Angeles who resigned in January.

Solis treated the Labor Department as an arm of the labor movement and business as an enemy, not a partner in creating jobs. She also discarded Bush era transparency rules that fought union corruption.

What would Perez be like as labor secretary?

He told AFL-CIO leaders that if Martin Luther King were alive today, “He would join with you … in calling for passage of the Employee Free Choice Act” — legislation that would drastically tilt workplace elections in favor of labor. He said the “civil rights movement and the labor movement are … essentially the same.”

At DOJ, Perez led the Obama administration’s assault on voter ID laws last year.  As John Fund and Hans von Spakovsky report in Who’s Counting, as a member of the Montgomery County, MD Council in 2003 he also tried to force governments to accept fraud-prone matricula consular ID cards issued by Mexican consular offices.

Perez was also president of Casa de Maryland, a notorious advocacy group for illegal aliens funded by George Soros and the soon-to-be laminated Hugo Chavez. (Big donors to Casa de Maryland include Soros’s Foundation to Promote Open Society –$270,000 since 2010– National Council of La Raza –$70,000 since 2004– and two government-supported entities, Neighborhood Reinvestment Corp. –$40,000 since 2011– and Maryland Legal Services Corp. –$630,203 since 2005.)

Perez apparently favors Saudi-style anti-blasphemy laws. In Saudi Arabia and other Islamic countries offenders are condemned to death merely for insulting Islam.

Disturbingly, at a congressional hearing Perez pointedly refused to rule out bringing such laws to America. At a meeting of the House Judiciary Committee’s panel on the Constitution last summer, Perez would not say whether he would uphold the religious speech protections in the First Amendment in the future.

“Will you tell us … that this administration’s Department of Justice will never entertain or advance a proposal that criminalizes speech against any religion?” Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) asked four times to no avail.

Perez, like so many Obama administration officials, believes that America is a seething hotbed of “Islamophobia,” filled with ignorant racist rubes who irrationally fear the Muslim religion. He has worked with hardcore Islamist groups such as the terrorist-linked Islamic Society of North America and applauded Islamists for lobbying against airline security measures.

He played a major role in enacting the Church Arson Prevention Act, legislation based on the false premise that black churches were being targeted with disproportionate frequency by arsonists.

Perez, now nominally the nation’s top civil rights enforcer at the Department of Justice, has an appalling track record at the DOJ and myriad unsavory associations.

He has targeted Maricopa County, AZ Sheriff Joe Arpaio, for legal harassment because he doesn’t like Arpaio’s tough-on-crime approach, especially with respect to illegal aliens.

Under Perez, the DOJ has refused to prosecute hate crimes committed against white Americans. He was reportedly instrumental in the Justice Department’s dismissal of a case involving two Philadelphia-based members of the New Black Panther Party who intimidated white voters on Election Day 2008.

Perez graduated from Harvard Law School, long a hotbed of radical leftist activity. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) recently irritated left-wingers when an old speech of his surfaced in which he pointed out that Harvard Law is filled with what he called “communists.”

Cruz, of course, was correct.  Harvard Law is bursting with adherents of “Critical Legal Studies” which is a crude legal theory derived from Marxism.

Perez is on record favoring the use of affirmative action in hiring at higher education and healthcare facilities. Perez appeared to argue that medical doctors should push for racial quotas in the hiring process because racial diversity among physicians somehow improves healthcare outcomes.

Likewise, Perez also believes that medical schools should also lower admission standards for black applicants because they are more likely to practice in so-called underserved communities than whites, notes author David Limbaugh.

Perez is proud of his role in inflating the mortgage bubble. He’s a fierce defender of financial affirmative action programs that forced banks to lend money to uncreditworthy borrowers.

Perez likens bankers to KKK members, arguing that racial discrimination is afoot whenever a member of a minority group is turned down for a loan. The only difference between bankers and Klansmen is that bankers discriminate “with a smile” and “fine print,” but they are “every bit as destructive as the cross burned in the neighborhood,” Perez said.

As NPR reported a year ago, Perez said, “I wish discrimination were a thing of the past. I wish we were living in post-racial America. I wish my phone were not ringing. But regrettably, it’s ringing off the hook in the voting context. It’s ringing off the hook in the hate crimes context and in so many other contexts.”

As director of clinical law programs at the University of Maryland School of Law in Baltimore, in 2003 Perez whined about the difficulty he claimed illegal aliens and new legal immigrants have getting welfare benefits. “Many people remain eligible for S-CHIP and Medicaid who don’t get access because of language barriers,” he said.

Just another day in the Obama administration.

That's "funny" considering the root causes of our economic problems. Those damn bankers won't cooperate with our conversion to communism.

When I read about this nomination, my first thought was, the radical circle is near complete. My second was, WTF, how can the people stand still for this. In other words, the road to a dictatorship is rife with anti-liberty, thuggish heads, lording it over the "unwashed" masses, as they feign caring for "the people".

In any case, if there was any justice in America, the ENTIRE dept of injustice would fall, and its lawyers would be heading for jail cells –

The above was written in Aug 2012, so there is no excuse for others not knowing about Perez's thuggery!

Perez, like the rest of the reprobates serving in the Soros administration, is every bit as ruthless, racist, and power-mad as any Nazi that Soros collaborated with in Germany. They all see the same enemy: white people of the conservative or Christian persuasion. They also hate Jews, even though Soros is Jewish and Jews have traditionally been liberal….but then these guys aren't liberals, are they. They are Communists.

Of course Perez sees the civil rights movement and the labor movement as the same. They are. Both have been thoroughly possessed by the Left and are nothing but convenient cloaks for the revolutiona a la Gramsci.

Stop referring to these guys as Nazi's.. They are bolshevik's, literally!

  • @USnavy1967

At the least we are looking at a left wing radical for Labor Sec. we all know that he will be approved and another department of our government falls to Marxist/Communist individuals.

It's not just those who are appointed to head these agencies. We had better be more concerned about all those radical civil servants who are being hired for life in these departments. Remember. Bill Clinton tied up all those mineral (coal, gold, silver, uranium, etc) rich lands in the West in the Escalente national Monument and then hired Clintonista civil servants to be in charge of who can do what on those lands. It was the biggest grab of national assetts (both government and privately owned) ever in this country and nobody seemed to even notice what he was doing. Nobody can do anything in that Monument area unless one of Clinton's people approves it. Roosevelt's agencies were riddled with known Communists. Eisenhower transferred those he couldn't fire into non sensitive agencies. When Joe Mccarthy tried to alert the American people, he was demonized and destroyed. But when the top secret Verona Tapes were made public, it proved Mccarthy was right. the American public's memory is only about 2 weeks long. Too bad. I am ready to take the heat from being called a Racist and bigot for mentioning these facts. Those who can't remember are doomed to repeat. .

Are any of Barack's nominees for anything, something more than way-out willies. From what I have seen, every one of his appointees have a radical agenda, but then Barack has an agenda so far left, I wonder where it came from.
This Saul Alinsky must have been quite influential to have such a following. Thank god I have only heard about his teachings, still I am not impressed. Scary. Yes.

    • Cassandra

      read Alinsky's book. quite scary

      • JacksonPearson

        "read Alinsky's book. quite scary"
Yes it is a scary book. But always remember, that the right can always use the same tactics as well.

See…. "Communist ideas go mainstream." Perhaps one of the most shocking developments in graduate school was the sight of labor historians supporting cultural nationalism, such as separatist ethnic studies departments, quotas, and everything else that painted America as a racist entity that was motivated by white privilege and grinding the face of the poor. Communists should never have evaded the vocabulary of class for race, but they did. I say this not because I am a Red but because I know communist theory. 1930s communists hate anything smacking of "race." Those days are long gone, ever since the New Left generation took over with their anti-imperialism and antisemitism.

Perez is not a liberal, but a hardcore multicultural radical. If the Senate cannot muster the stones to reject his pending nomination, then it has no guts. Don't hope for too much. Perez's views were well-known back in 2009 when he was up for Senate approval for his current DOJ post. And he ultimately was approved by a vote of 72-22.

Reject Thomas Perez and what he stands for.

Just another in Obama's "CIRCLE OF COMMUNISTS!"

It is a given that no matter what the position, how bad the appointment in terms of lack
of qualification and character, poor reputation and background of hate America with a
criminal hate, Obama will find a thug and croney of Communist, Socialist, Leftist and
Islamist ilk that will abominate the outcome. The enemies of America seem to be in
control of the Nation moreso as Obama brings in his goons………………….and Clowns.

  • Max

Now the circle of thugs is full, complete with the commander-in-thief himself. Un******* believable…

  • mlcblog

Perez believes all the lies and distortions against our country that have been taught and held by the radical fringe since the 1930's. Too bad they are now having so much influence.

  • Herb Benty

Let's face it, if a muslim sees a Jew going to synogue or a Christian with a Bible in their hands, THAT probably offends them. The connection Perez and muslims have is that they are uncomfortable around The HOLY SPIRIT, and feel something must be done!!!! America now has a gov't full of these types who have no clue why America became great. LEFTIES now call the reason we became great the problem, as GOD said " they will call good bad and bad will be called good". We are there now.

  • pyeatte

All you can say about Perez is that he is a dirt-bag, and nothing more.

  • cun

perez is nothing but a dirty communist sympathizer.

How about instead of focusing on lowering the medical school admissions bar for non-Whites they spend time on eliminating the ghetto culture that keeps many of them from actually being educated.

And isn’t the statement that the bar should be lowered because Black applicants are are more likely to practice in so-called under-served communities than whites racist?
