A ‘Sudanese Genocide’ in Egypt?

The current tensions in Egypt between the Muslim Brotherhood-led government and a fragmented populace that includes large segments of people who oppose the Islamization of Egypt—the moderates, secularists, and Christians who recently demonstrated in mass at Tahrir Square and even besieged the presidential palace—is all too familiar.  One need only look to Egypt’s immediate neighbor, Sudan, and its bloody history, to know where the former may be headed.

The civil war in Sudan, which saw the deaths of millions, was fundamentally a byproduct of an Islamist regime trying to push Sharia law on large groups of Sudanese—Muslim, Christian, and polytheist—who refused to be governed by Allah’s law, who refused to be Islamized.   Although paying lip-service to pluralism and equality in the early years, by 1992, the Islamist government of Khartoum declared a formal jihad on the south and the Nuba, citing a fatwa by Sudan’s Muslim authorities which declared that “An insurgent who was previously a Muslim is now an apostate; and a non-Muslim is a non-believer standing as a bulwark against the spread of Islam, and Islam has granted the freedom of killing both of them.”

In other words, Khartoum decreed that: 1) It is simply trying to do Allah’s will by instituting Islamic Sharia law; 2) Any Sudanese who objects—including Muslims—is obviously an infidel; 3) All such infidels must be eliminated.  Accordingly, countless people were butchered, raped, and enslaved—all things legitimate once an Islamic states declares a jihad.  While South Sudan recently ceded, the Nuba Mountains in the north is still continuously being bombarded.

Now consider how the above pattern—false promises of religious freedom, followed by a Sharia push and a declaration that anyone opposing it, including Muslims, are infidels and apostates to be killed—is precisely what has been going on directly to the north of Sudan, in Egypt.

First, although Muhammad Morsi repeatedly promised that he would be a president who represents “all Egyptians”  during presidential elections, mere months after coming to power, he showed that his true interest—which should have been obvious from the start, considering that he is a Muslim Brotherhood leader—was to Sharia and Islamization.

Even so, Egyptians did not forget that Morsi, during presidential elections, had said the following in a video interview:

The Egyptian people are awake and alert—Muslims and Christians; and they know that, whoever comes [to become Egypt’s president], and does not respect the rule of law and the Constitution, the people will go against him. I want the people immediately to go against me, if I ever do not respect the law and Constitution.

Accordingly, when Morsi aggrandized himself with unprecedented presidential powers, and then used these powers to sidestep the law and push a Sharia-heavy Constitution on Egypt, large segments of the Egyptian people did rise against him; at one point, he even had to flee the presidential palace.

And just as in Sudan, Morsi’s Islamist allies—who, like Morsi, during elections spoke glowingly of Egyptian unity—made it a point to portray all those Egyptians opposing Morsi, the majority of whom were Muslims, of opposing Islam, of being apostates and hypocrites, and thus enemies who should be fought and killed.

Radical online cleric Wagdi Ghoneim, for instance, incited Muslims to wage jihad on and eliminate anyone protesting against Morsi, adding that any Muslim found protesting is, in fact, an apostate hypocrite, who wants to see Islam wiped out of Egypt.  He justified the jihad on such Muslims by quoting Quran 66:9: “O Prophet! Strive hard against the infidels and the hypocrites, and be firm against them.” He added that the hypocrites were supported by “Crusader Christians” (a reference to the Copts) and “debauched” liberals and seculars—all of whom must also be fought and even killed.

As for those Muslims who were protesting but were still “true” Muslims, Ghoneim portrayed them as being misguided—asking them, “Why are you siding with crusaders and infidels against Sharia?”—and thus also needing to be fought until they come to their senses.

He correctly pointed out that Islam forbids true Muslims from fighting each other—despite the fact that history (and current events) are replete with Muslims slaughtering each other—and rationalized his call to fight fellow Muslims by quoting Quran 49:9: “If two factions among the believers fight, then make settlement between the two. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the ordinance of Allah.” In this context, the Muslims opposing Sharia are the ones “oppressing the other”—the true Muslims—Morsi and his supporters, who want Sharia, that is, who want to “return to the ordinance of Allah.”

Many more Muslims made the same exact argument, that whoever protests against Morsi, is in fact protesting against Islam itself, since the former is simply enabling the latter; like Ghoneim, they too issued fatwas, or Islamic decrees that all such protesters are to be fought, regardless of whether they are fellow Muslims, leading to the violent attacks and killings during the uprisings against Morsi, including the “Muslim Brotherhood’s Torture Rooms.”

Egypt is still not Sudan, but it is going down the same path and following the same pattern, specifically, an Islamist government trying to Islamize society, and characterizing as infidels and apostates all who resist.  Undoubtedly Egypt’s Islamist government will continue to try to Islamize all walks of Egyptian life; undoubtedly there will be those who reject it.  The question is, will their resistance ever be staunch enough to  prompt the government to act on the aforementioned fatwas, formally declaring all those Egyptians opposing Sharia as infidels and apostates to be hunted down and eradicated with impunity?

If a political party based its agenda on the Koran it would be outlawed in the US as advocating violence by calling for the death of opponents and violent overthrow of the government. Hey wait….

    • Guest

In point of fact, Islam is both Totalitarian and Fascist. The latter term refers to the use of intimidation and threats of death in order to achieve specific political ends. The very term Sharia "Law," is, to my mind, the Ultimate Oxymoron of the Century….Under Obama's term, there has been a strengthening of Islamists abroad and a welcoming of them to the White House periodically–under the guise of "reaching out to Islam." All of this has occurred while actual polls of Muslims have shown a vastly greater popularity for George Bush (yes, the original one!) over Obama (who is seen as weak and an individual whose words can simply and safely be ignored totally).

Civil War in Egypt is unlikely. In Sudan, the Christians victimized by Jihad still inhabited their historic homeland in the south from which they could precariously survive. The Copts of Egypt have no such equivalent sanctuary.

Much more probable is a mass exodus of Copts as their conditions deteriorate and Sharia becomes the law of the land in Egypt. America and the West should welcome these Christian-Arab refugees with open arms, employing their language skills by hiring many of them as translators and agents for Homeland Security.

    • poetcomic1

And so we in the 'post-Christian' West must help them become exiles and be cheated of their country and their rights?

      • Chezwick

I'm all for diplomatic and economic sanctions should the treatment of Egypt's Copts become egregious, but 1) it's unlikely given Obama's obsequious deference towards the Muslim world and 2) even if we had a President willing to impose sanctions, Muslims will be Muslims and Sharia is what it is….so sanctions or not, the plight of the Copts will not likely be alleviated. What's left but to offer them sanctuary?

      • Delores

Well the West did just that to the Serbian and Croatian Christians in KOSOVO and gave the whole place to the Albanian and bin laden lovin' muslims who had been moving in and taking over since the days of Hitler and then Tito!

We could always General MacArthur that s___…

Copts are not Arabs, they are descendants of the ancient Egyptians. Egyptian Muslims are descended from Arab invaders/ Coptic converts.

      • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLNn2YflwNs Roger

So the real Egyptians are not given the same rights that the Arabs living in Israel have.

The religion of islam has one goal, and peace is never part of that.

      • nina

At least someone who knows history. Too bad the West doesn't care for the fate of the real victims and is only willing to fight for the "poor" palestinians.

    • Boetica

Copts are not Arabs, but your point is well taken.

  • rbla

The non Muslims of the Sudan had one obvious advantage which enabled them to, fortunately and rightfully, gain the sympathy of much of the West's elite. The Copts on the other hand are too 'white'. You won't see George Clooney and the rest of the Hollywood/media movers and shakers raise a finger in their defense.

  • Mrs. Pharaoh

Correction, the Copt’s technically are NOT Arabs they are the TRUE Egyptians, the remnant of the pharaonic people. I am married to one. They are the most loving and gracious people you will ever meet. America would be privileged to have more of them. Because of the persecution in their homeland they instill in their children a strong education and work ethic, you will never find a Copt asking for a hand out. They are somewhat clan-ish but must be to survive and to help each other. All Copt’s I know are either doctors, pharmacists, engineers, CPA’s or businessmen, the reason being they must be able to build their own practices and businesses because of the prejudice against them in Egypt. Their intense Christian heritage and work ethic make them a natural fit to achieve the American Dream. My husband landed in this country with $9.00 in his pocket, 40 years ago, got a job in three days in the worst economic times, remember the unemployment and gas lines? His motto was he had to work harder and be sharper than any native born American in order always secure a job. Not only did he secure a job, but never looked for one again, employers came looking for him based on his reputation in his industry. He eventually ran several companies until he acquired his own. With the present guy in the WH don’t count on him letting any Christian Copts in they are to self reliant and may expose the system and entitlement whores for what they truly are.

    • Rebas Thgil

Great informative post. Always wondered what ever happened to the real Egyptians. I'd be very glad to turn immigration policy on its head by allowing Copts in instead of the current crowd.

  • g_jochnowitz

Interestingly, Morsi has invited Egyptian Jews in Israel to return. I guess that would make it easier to kill them. http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/middle_east/c

    • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLNn2YflwNs Roger

They think the Jews are stupid enough to return and be treated worse than the Copts?

As if that would happen. I was wondering, has that natural gas line to Jordan/Israel been blown up again lately?

      • g_jochnowitz

No. They think it is Europe and most of the world that is stupid enough to think that the Jews will find a place to live in peace and harmony and so Europeans needn't worry that something bad will happen to Jews if they're kicked out of Israel. They are correct about the stupidity of the world.

  • Drakken

Unless we in the west are willing to arm the Copts and help them defend themselves, slaugher is going to follow unless we let them into the west, but I am not holding my breath for the useful idiot leftist will let millions of muslims here but not lift a finger to help our brethren Christians. As the MB consolidates their power there will be massive bloodletting by the muslim savages.

    • Delores

USA and the West supported the Albanian thug muslim invaders in Kosovo and the Christians had to flee AFTER NATO put its boots on the ground. Now the West is forcing the remaining 200,000 to flee from a ghetto on the border form Serbia.

      • Drakken

Hopefully as we get weaker ther Serbs along with their Russian allies will take back to the whole bloody lot of Kosovo.

    • guest

I doubt that you will see any such support from Obama. All along the past year, Coptic Christians were being attacked and slaughtered in Egypt, with the Egyptian Army turning a blind eye…I do not even recall any degree of forceful public OUTRAGE emanating from "Our Dear Leader" during that period…..

  • Thomas Wells

Our Caliph-in-Chief is aiding and abetting the slaughter by sending American tanks and other weapons to his good friends in the Egyptian muslim brotherhood.

    • guest

You are absolutely correct. Obama is, in my mind, the LEAST DEMOCRATIC individual to have resided in the White House in many, many years. The U.S. will see a strengthening of ties with Islamist regimes under this man and chipping away of the U.S. Constitution in tandem. It began long ago. From mouthing "sanctions on Iran" (which never worked) initially, we now have the Muslim Brotherhood, a genocidal group, having been invited by Obama to the White House. What's next? Will he ask them to record a Rap Islamist recording?? Obama's strategy has ALWAYS been to divide the public along economic, ethnic and political lines to strengthen whatever votes he could get. He has, in truth, been what I call "The Campaigner-In-Chief" and is always functioning in this mode whenever possible. It is an indication of just how shaky his tenure actually is. He has brought a disaster to the nation with an "administration" that is essentially "of no Fixed Address" or has any coherent sense of direction. Its almost as if they won the prize but hadn't a da&mned clue as to what to do with it…

  • JacksonPearson

Once Muhammadans have taken control, Egypt will never be the same again. Islamination will lead down a bloody irreversible road of death and destruction. It's gonna get much worse.

  • Ghostwriter

I hope a lot of Coptic Christians come to America just to shame Egypt into stopping their persecution.

    • LindaRivera

Read my comment below. Europe, Britain and other countries are being massively colonized with many millions of Muslims whilst severely persecuted Christians and other non-Muslims are denied entry into our countries. A wicked crime against humanity!

    • Mrs. Pharaoh

It won't shame them at all, that is what they want. Having Coptic family members it has always been known the motto of the Islamists is, kill a third, exile a third, convert a third. The Copts I know in Egypt are intent to dig their heel in, as this is their home, their land, their heritage, they were there first by thousands of years, and the Christian conversion of Egypt was hundreds of years before the Islamic hordes showed up to once again, steal, terrorize, rape, plunder, and kill. Same old story different century.

  • LindaRivera

Reading about the threats and violence from the Muslim Brotherhood and Morsi immediately reminds one of Muslim Obama's declaration at the UN:
‘The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam’

But then of course, it was Obama who put his top favorites, the MB into power.

    • guest

You are absolutely right. Obama threw Mubarak under the bus within weeks and INVITED the Muslim Brotherhood to enter elections that EVERYONE in Egypt KNEW would allow them to seize total control of the country. Egypt is the LAST place on earth I would want to be living in…they are in for a long stretch of turmoil–in essence a civil war that will have to be continuously controlled via extreme violence by the Muslim Brotherhood. The MB will appeal to the pseudo-Religious "duty" of Egyptians to lend their support to what is going to be a sheer bloodbath in that nation. Poverty will reign as the True Colors of Islam take over the entire country, with disastrous consequences.

      • LindaRivera

The Greatest Betrayal by Nations' Leaders in all of History.

European and UK ruling elites have colonized their countries with many millions of Muslims. Ethnic cleansing-replacing the indigenous people with Muslims. And forcing Europeans and Brits to financially provide for Muslim males, their multiple wives and huge number of children.

Abu Baseer in London: “One of the goals of immigration is the revival of the duty of jihad and enforcement of power over the infidels. Immigration and jihad go together.

  • LindaRivera

Under Islam, Egypt’s Christians have lived in hell for centuries. The kidnappings, rapes and violent conversion to Islam of Christian children and other horrors has worsened under the Muslim Brotherhood. What happened to Christian Egypt is a WARNING to the world.

The next stage of a nation conquered by Muslims is the MASSIVE kidnapping of non-Muslim female CHRISTIAN children by male Muslims. The kidnappings are perpetrated with the full cooperation of ruling elites, courts and the police. The agonized parents NEVER get their beloved children back. The severely abused, terrorized girls are FOREVER separated from their loving parents and family. These terrible crimes against God and humanity must NOT be allowed to happen in Europe and Britain!

Egyptian Christian Copts cry out in agony:

The Passion of the Copts http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embed

Comment by Egyptian Christian Copt underneath video:

The suffering of non-Muslims in Muslim countries is beyond bearing. God help our brother and sister non-Muslims!

I'm wondering what's going to happen when the shoe drops on the other foot with regard to the Egyptian economy. Unlike Sudan Egypt has no oil fields to fund a civil war, the only things keeping the economy going was foreign aid and tourism, and nobody is going to Egypt on vacation anymore. I think that when the economy truly hits the wall in Egypt whatever unrest they are going through right now will seem small in comparison. Then just as it reaches it's crescendo you will hear about a military coup led by a General Abdul Mohammad Nasser Sadat (or some such) and that President Mohammad Morsi has just committed suicide by shooting himself in the back of the head 21 times. Egypt has been down this road before, the Muslim Brotherhood almost took over in the early 1950s after overthrowing the king but were quickly liquidated by the Arab nationalists lead by Gammel Abdel Nasser.

Genocide is wrong and evil, but it has not stopped those responsible for murdering millions of Armenians, Bosnian, Croatian`s, Chechnya’s, Jews and Russian farmers. Dreams of exterminating hated populations still exist in the minds of ordinary people, but Genocide is wrong and evil and it must continue to be outlawed.

Have you noticed that all nationalities are written capital letters, only the Jews are not? Does it tell you something about this polnic person? I could tell a lot about this post. But better not.
