The purpose(s) of the public schools in Chicago are:

1. Miseducate the young, so they will become classic disinformation-voters (i.e. Democratic voters). The propagandizing is no longer even being hidden (see Common Core).
2. Seize taxpayer money in the form of union dues to fund the Democratic Party

Anyone who thinks today's public schools are about educating the young properly is naive at best. If you have kids, send them to private school or home school them.

The protesters are not out there because they are concerned about the welfare of the children. If they were defending childrens welfare they would be supporting educational reform. They are not out there because they are defending education. Precious little education takes place in the classrooms of Chicago as things stand now. They are not out there because they believe in neighborhood schools. They would support busing children out of their neighborhoods to other schools if they thought it served some social goal. No such idealism motivates their protests.

They are out there for their own interests. Their leadership is out there because closing a failed school means a reduction in the number of school employees they represent. That rerduces their power. It also reduces the union dues they can collect. That also reduces their power and perhaps their paycheck. The employees are out there because they may lose some pay or benefits or their phony baloney job altogether.

Of course they are out there protesting. Hogs always squeal when the trough goes dry or they are being kicked away from it.

What a discovery, you union members discover that being a human lemming is no fun after leaving terra firma for the abyss, after your esteemed socialist handlers find no other way to stop the financial bleeding except to shut 'er down!!!! Sad, but the whole comedy of moral error comes back to bite you in your political backside, and it hurts! By the time you wake up enough to seek the Savior for everlasting life, the few churches who could take you into the fold may also be shut down by the same socialist handlers, that is if those socialists survive the coming Islamic high tides.

The education reforms known as the Common Core quickly tie into the communitarian movement once you track what the actual mindset and worldview that comes along with being college and career ready. Another brief hop and the entire economic development based on social citizenship for everyone and a needs economy instead of a consumer economy with designated politically connected businesses as the "providers of services and products." http://www.invisibleserfscollar.com/who-needs-pit... explains this economic vision. It won't work but this is the distant shore being aimed for.

The neighborhood schools are to be the physical nexus of all the services that are now to be provided in the inner cities in this planned economy of the future built from the bottom up. Using Harry Boyte community organizing vision and its nexus to education and that distributed capitalism described in that link.

While all this is still coming together, closing the neighborhood schools removes a lynchpin of where the adults were to be coming too to community organize around this vision. That's why they are so upset. We may not understand the link of the vision to Marx's Human Development Model but the leaders of these marchers do.

What is the purpose of public schools in Chicago? They're certainly not institutions of learning by any stretch of the imagination. I've seen Chicago school teachers. Talk about your filth! I think the only way they were able to become Chicago teachers was to first be Chicago students.
