Abbas the ‘Moderate’

abbas-resistance-2Holocaust denial is not the sort of thing one normally associates with moderation. It is associated with unbridled hatred, ignorance, irrationality and xenophobia. Deniers usually fall into two groupings. There are the crass boors who spew forth whatever refuse enters their vapid minds without even the slightest attempt to provide empirical data to substantiate their odious views. And then there are the more sophisticated types whose denials are generally accompanied by fabricated evidence and couched in terms of scholarly pursuit and historical review.

The rantings of “Dr.” Issam Sissalem, a Palestinian academic who claimed on Palestinian Authority TV that Auschwitz and other death camps merely served as “disinfection” facilities, provides a clear example of the former grouping. The unelected, autocratic “president” of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas provides a good example of the latter.

In the 1980s Abbas authored a Ph.D. thesis in which he referred to the systematic murder of 6 million Jews as a “fantastic lie” and claimed that the actual death toll was barely a sixth of that amount and that in any event, their murder was provoked by the “Zionist movement.” He further alleged that gas chambers were never utilized to murder Jews.

So there you have it. The leader of the Palestinian Authority shares the same beliefs and values as the likes of former Islamic Republic president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and former grand wizard, David Duke. This is the man that Israel is expected to trust with signed treaties. This is the man that Israel is expected to cede its ancestral land to. And this is the man entrusted by John Kerry to end Palestinian incitement.

It is beyond astonishing that neither the EU’s Catherine Ashton nor John Kerry have addressed the disconcerting issue of Holocaust denial with Abbas. The matter is even more pressing when one considers that Holocaust denial is pervasive among Palestinians due to systematic efforts by Palestinian Authority officials (often facilitated by Western financing) to promote incitement and hatred. Even more disturbing is the fact that Abbas, who is hailed as a “moderate” by Ashton and Kerry, continues to spew forth repugnant and highly revisionist views that are incongruent with peace-making and coexistence.

In a telling op-ed piece for the New York Times, Abbas bemoans the loss of his purported homeland but forgets to mention the inconvenient truth that it was the Palestinian Arabs who rejected partition and who fired the first shots of aggression. He also reaches the zenith of mendacity when he claims that “Zionist forces expelled Palestinian Arabs to ensure a decisive Jewish majority in the future state of Israel, and Arab armies intervened.”

The vast majority of Palestinian Arabs left on their own volition with the belief that they would return once Arab forces were triumphant. That of course never materialized because despite all odds, it was the Jews who were the victors. It is also noteworthy that among the first of the Palestinians to flee were the leaders and more affluent, who had the means to do so. This flight further demoralized the Palestinian Arab peasantry and middleclass and adversely affected the Palestinian economy, leading to further flight by the masses.

Abbas’ stubborn adherence to a false and misleading narrative and continued refusal to accept responsibility and to acknowledge even the slightest culpability for the current Palestinian predicament is indicative of one who will never relinquish his claims to the whole. Abbas is intent on using the peace process as a tactic with the overall strategic goal of eliminating Israel. Should Israel ever decide to succumb to John Kerry’s pressure and relinquish Judea & Samaria, Abbas would be one step closer in attaining this pernicious objective.

Abbas has in the past expressed deep admiration for Haj Amin el-Husseini, an evil and deeply anti-Semitic character whose past Nazi connections are well documented. He has provided cash and cushy government jobs to murderers convicted of the most barbaric crimes, courtesy of the American and EU taxpayer. But most telling of all was an incident which occurred last year and represents one of the clearest examples yet of why Abbas cannot be trusted.

Abbas was present and seated in the front row during a sermon given by PA Religious Endowments Minister, Mahmoud al-Habbash. Habbash compared the current negotiations with Israel to a medieval pact signed between Muhammad and his rivals, the Quraysh, which Muhammad subsequently violated once achieving military parity. Abbas offered no rebuke or condemnation of his minister. On the contrary, the views expressed by Habbash are consistent with those of his boss.

John Kerry and many of his allies on the hard left are placing enormous pressures on Israel to engage in mammoth concessions and vacate strategic areas vital to Israel’s security. Moreover, they are asking Israel to surrender land to those sworn to her destruction. Abbas has proven to be a duplicitous, forked-tongue leader, slightly more polished than his predecessor but sharing the same ideology and genocidal aims. The cause of peace is noble and just but should not come at the cost of national suicide.

Leftist bullshit. It’s based on Marxism. The underdog is always the victim unless they’re clearly capitalists on the way to defeat.

I think Kerry wants win a Nobel Peace Prize for ”settling” the Israeli Palesinian conflict, and will do anything to make this happen. He is blind as a bat, preferring to ignore reality. Why else would he lean on Israel to release the worst of the worst? (Maybe the real question is why Israel would do so).

Conundrum: who admits to committing a Holocaust without becoming that nation of mooshy leftists vilified by Jewish nationalists? Consider: Israel May not admit to commuting genocide or apartheid. Germany has. Concomitantly, Germany is a very wet, drippy, flaccid leftist country. Similarly, Belgium. Norway. The more contrite they are about their colonial past, the more they are vilified by Fjordman, Frontpage and company. Anyone who calls out Israeli viciousness gets branded a leftist. Why would the Jewish nationalists expect Abbas to recognize the Holocaust? I posit that they don’t. They just enjoy spending the political capital of him being a Holocaust denier, because they are cynical and exploitative.

The Facts. Thank you for your post. May I ask you to post another one explaining what you are trying to say in the first one?
Just a wild guess leads me to the probability that you are trying to lay all the problems in the world at the feet of Israel whereas you and your ilk should be thanking the Jewish State of Israel and the Jews for existing as your whipping boy.
If you find it too difficult to understand this posting perhaps you could pay someone, maybe a Jew, to explain it to you.

Israel doesn’t have to admit to “commuting” genocide because it’s not and it hasn’t dolt. As far as your allegation that Israel is an apartheid state why don’t we ask the Ethiopian Jews, Christians, Baha’i and Druze who live in Israel if they prefer Israel to living in the islam0nazi states that constitute the rest of the Mid-East and N. Africa?

As the author noted, the Palestinian Arabs threw their support behind The Grand Mufti and his connection to The Third Reich. The Arabs were committing atrocities in Palestine long before Israel declared herself a state. By 1948, The Nuremburg trials were over, and the world learned the true nature of Nazi depravity. A depravity which the Arabs wholly supported and are seemingly unapologetic. While Abbas and his ilk deny the copious evidence of The Holocaust, they without a scintilla of evidence propagate the myth of ethnic cleansing by Israel. Ironically they compare their “naqba” as somehow equivalent to an event that they themselves deny. Got to love Palestinian logic.

I am most disappointed that I have had 2 comments deleted by FPM in the last 2 days. On both occasions neither comment was inflammatory, but reasoned, and supported the authors own line of writing. Are there some sort of forbidden words, like Nazi, or Hitler that trigger the deletions? You try to counter nonsense by lefties, but find your responses gone. Most troubling.

Fatah honors arch-terrorist by proudly listing his 61 murders
Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik
    July 25, 2013

Fatah glorifies terrorist Abdallah Barghouti as “brave prisoner” because he prepared the bombs for suicide terror attacks that:
    – “killed 15 Zionists” at Sbarro restaurant
    – “killed 11 Zionists” at Moment Café
    – “killed 15 Zionists” at Sheffield Night Club
    – “killed 9 Zionists” at Hebrew University
    – “killed 11 Zionists” at the Ben Yehuda pedestrian mall
Fatah continues to follow Palestinian Authority policy documented by Palestinian Media Watch of honoring terrorists, among them Abdallah Barghouti.

A picture glorifying 5 of the suicide bombings that Barghouti prepared explosives for and which killed 61 “Zionists” was posted by the administrator of the official Facebook page of the Mobilization and Organization Commission of Fatah. Terrorist Barghouti was honored as the “brave prisoner” and his attacks as “self-sacrificing activity” and “Martyrdom-seeking operations.” “Martyrdom-seeking operations” is the Palestinian euphemism for suicide bombings.

Barghouti is serving 67 life sentences for preparing explosives for terror attacks in which 67 people were murdered – Sbarro restaurant (15 killed, Aug. 9, 2001), Sheffield Club (15 killed, May 7, 2002), Moment Café (11 killed, March 9, 2002), triple attack at Ben Yehuda pedestrian mall (11 killed, Dec. 1, 2001), Hebrew University (9 killed, July 1, 2002), and Bus 4 in Tel Aviv (6 killed, Sept. 19, 2002).

Following PMW’s exposure of the visits this past May by PA TV to the homes of terrorist Barghouti and two other arch terrorists who between them are serving 166 life sentences, PA TV criticized PMW saying they are not terrorists but “heroes” and attacked PMW for calling them “terrorists”.
These sicko’s from Abbas PA are now glorifying massacring Jewish children at Maalot.

“I thought Abbas was at least a little more moderate than Arafat years ago, but I have long since come to the conclusion that while the beast may change its appearance, it still cannot change its nature…”

Abbas was always the “wise man” behind Arafat. Abbas is just a more effective deceiver. And let’s face it; Arafat wasn’t really that good at deceiving people unless they already wanted it. Like all of the commies and their dupes.

Does Abbas have a harem of little boys like Arafat did?

“Are there some sort of forbidden words, like Na…”

Yep. My best guess is that such words trigger automatic moderation, and if a moderator doesn’t get to it in time it will simply be deleted without review. Or the third party reviewers are some times leftists.

FPM doesn’t do all of its own moderation. I think each author can do it on their own but they otherwise pay a third party to perform this. I only gleaned this from observation and from a comment made by Horowitz, so I’m not 100% certain.

Abbas fools only the ignorant . There is only one difference between Abbas [Fatah ] and Hamas , and that is the means , methods and timing involving the destruction of Israel and putting the Jews in the sea . Everything Abbas says in Arabic , confirms this and the Palestinian National Charter which calls for Israel’s destruction STILL stands . It was to be the FIRST STEP in Oslo on the part of the Palestinians to remove the language from their Charter . But no less than 3 times did that come before the Palestinian National Council and 3 times it was REJECTED . The Hamas Charter is no different nor is the Hezbollah Proclamation . Who’s kidding who ? There will never be a PALESTINIAN State as long as Israel Exists . And there never should be .
