It is impossible to believe this is happening in America.

If you wrote a novel or made a movie about adults blocking young minority children from getting an education, the publishers or producers would require you to make the adults white southerners. Do the stereotype.

If your novel or movie had people like DiBlasio or the other vicious adult haters mentioned above, it would be rejected as out of touch with reality. Nothing like this could ever happen, they would say.

If they opened their eyes, they would see it happening in New York City.

The Left and the NAACP are always blathering about civil rights and the disadvantaged black student. "More funds" they cry, with monotonous regularity, but the increased funds do no good.
Public employee unions, including teachers unions, exist to further the interest of their members and union leadership. They function as money laundering mechanisms to funnel taxpayer money to public unions in return for "contributions" to progressive politicians. In essence taxpayer money is used to fund progressive politicians and policies favorable to the unions. Taxpayers pay, public unions and progressive politicians prosper. The cost of this system includes higher than merited union wages, huge unfunded pension benefits and in the case of teachers, failed schools, uneducated students and and a growing incompetent underclass incapable of existence without criminal activity, and taxpayer funded welfare payments. Of course criminal activity means more people incarcerated, more prisons, more unionized jailers and on and on. Larger union membership means ever larger contributions to self serving politicians willing to serve union interests.
don't rully value education highly?

So, . . . if I "read" you correctly, it being accepted that, those minority cultures here considered don't rully value education highly—what a hell-a-va addition which that clause makes to a sentence—why then, any blameworthiness in Bill d B. and his cohorts for what they are doing to crush the futures of those minority children—and their neighborhoods, . . . and the nation—is thereby ameliorated? Is that pretty much it?

Okay, but, suppose those children and their mothers were over the lives and futures of Bill d B. and his cohorts, begging for a chance at breathable air, . . . how different might things then be, . . .

"Suffer the children to come to me.", . . . you ever stumble across that one? Or: "Whoso offends the faith and futures of these little ones, it were better that, his feet were put into 5gal buckets, and those buckets filled with concrete, and he be cast into the sea.", . . . any idea of where that comes from?

The real problem and enemy of minorities in NYC though is often...themselves. Speaking from personal experience, it is not unfair to say that minorities (and I'm going to exclude Asian minorities for purposes of this discussion) do not really value education highly if they have been here for more than 1 or 2 generations. Now, there are cases where the problem is actually the management, but those are few and far between.

Don't presume charter schools are the answer just because the teachers unions and all that are against it. The charters here in Boston are owned and controlled by progressive socialists. Its like perestroika in the Soviet Union where the communist party members are given what was once state property. I sometimes wake up already thinking about an autistic child being thrown down to the ground and held face down by several adults several times a day. Sent by Boston public schools against his parent's wishes to a private company and they are all connected though employment history and conflict of interest. And a 10 year old mentally disabled girl who has bloated up to 200 pounds (this is insane I know but it is on the Hearing records) and all she does is scrounge for food and her mom wants her out but Boston Public Schools refuses to let her go. My own son had some ok times at that school but he did start to get fat for the only time in his life and they got him eating chicken even we had meetings over and over not to do this as we are vegetarian. It goes on and on.

And I often see comments here talking about the discipline in schools always pesuming the kids are bad and the adults are correct. And this is from people who say they are against public schools. In reality it is often the adults who are abusing the kids. So much of this conservatism you all have is trying to return to the early 1960s and before and you think of or maybe even remember the state institutions being good in places. I never experienced that but as I am older I think you are probably somewhat correct. But you need to realize too that the corruption and social decay in the inner city is not just the obvious criminals you hear about.

We never got vouchers and we never will. We get vouchers for rich connected Democrats to own their own charter schools. I wish there was some possible way out. For followers of David Horowitz and Ron Paul and good people in the inner city to find common ground.
