Israel Bashers’ Phony Contrition

Dr. Richard Horton

Originally published by the Jerusalem Post

Dr. Richard Horton, the editor of the English medical journal The Lancet, was not transformed by his visit to Israel last week.

Horton came to Israel last week the guest of Rambam Medical Center in a bid to dig himself out of the hole he dug himself into. On August 19 Horton published a 1,600-word letter criminalizing Israel. In it, Israel was accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity. The authors called for a boycott of Israel, including Israeli academia. Since its publication on Lancet’s website, the letter has garnered 20,000 signatures.

The letter made no mention of the fact that the war this summer was initiated by Hamas through its illegal missile, mortar and rocket offensive against Israeli population centers. The esteemed medical professionals who wrote the letter failed to mention that Hamas’s operational headquarters was located in Shifa hospital in Gaza. And of course, they ignored the underlying fact that Hamas’s entire campaign against Israel was a crime against humanity.

Immediately following its publication, Prof. Gerald Steinberg, the head of NGO Monitor, exposed that the letter’s principal authors are frothing-at-the-mouth anti-Semites. Dr. Paola Manduca and Dr. Swee Ang disseminated a video entitled, CNN, Goldman Sachs & the Zio Matrix. It was produced by the former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan David Duke.

As Britain’s Telegraph reported, in disseminating the video, Ang exhorted her audience to understand that the Jewish threat outlined in the video is a threat to humanity. In her words, it “is not about Palestine – it is about all of us!” For her part, as the Telegraph reported, Manduca has accused Israel of responsibility for the Boston Marathon bombing. And she disseminated an article comparing Israel to a “strangler fig,” which as the Telegraph explained, “grows around other trees and takes their sunlight, often resulting in the deaths of the original trees.”

Steinberg cataloged Horton’s long record of publishing anti-Israel slanders under the guise of a scientific research. Horton responded with indignation to the initial criticisms of his decision to publish the defamatory letter. He told the Telegraph that the anti-Semitic views of letter authors were “utterly irrelevant.” He called criticism of his decision to publish the letter, “a smear campaign.”

Horton then pledged not to retract the letter – which is still posted on Lancet’s website – “even if [criticism of the authors] was found to be substantiated.”

Yet as the outrage mounted against him, and the stench of the Jew hatred of his colleagues grew stronger, Horton began to feel the heat. So after refusing to publish a letter from Israeli doctors from Rambam rejecting the libelous attacks against Israel, Horton accepted Rambam’s invitation to come to Israel last week and learn firsthand how none of his allegations were true.

At the end of his three-day visit, Horton gave a lecture at Rambam where he condemned the Cossack-style Jew hatred of his colleagues Ang and Manduca. But despite his seeming contrition, Horton did not disavow their letter. He did not agree to remove the slander from The Lancet’s website.

Horton’s selective contrition was an expression of contempt for Israel, for his Israeli hosts and for their Herculean efforts over three days to demonstrate to him that Israel is good, not evil. Yet, instead of calling him on his obnoxious behavior, the heads of Rambam and other critics embraced him and praised his transformation.

As Dr. Anthony Luder, the director of pediatrics at Ziv Medical Center in Safed, wrote in a letter to The Jerusalem Post published Monday, “In what looks like an academic version of the Stockholm Syndrome, my esteemed colleagues at Rambam Medical Center have only succeeded in throwing sand in the face of the medical community by providing legitimization for a hateful hypocrite and terrible scientist.”

Horton’s behavior is very much in keeping with what has become standard operating procedure throughout much of Europe today. First, attack Israel. If you get called on it, issue a clarification or a clearing-of-the-throat apology that does not contain any retraction of your falsehoods. For your willingness to rhetorically temper your mendacious allegations, you can expect to be forgiven by Israel and those who care about truth in your country.

CONSIDER THE new Swedish government’s behavior.

During his inaugural speech last Friday, the new Social Democrat Swedish prime minister, Stefen Lofven, announced that his government will recognize the non-existent State of Palestine.

Israel rightly responded angrily to his statement, noting that the reason no peace accord has been signed between Israel and the Palestinians is because the Palestinians have scuttled and prevented negotiations for the past five years.

In the face of Israel’s angry rebuke of Lofven’s statement, the Swedish Embassy in Tel Aviv issued a clarification saying that Sweden supports a negotiated settlement and values its ties with Israel. Ambassador Carl Magnus Nesser told Army Radio that the remark was simply made to jump-start peace talks.

Lofven’s statement was not notable because he revealed himself as a fan of Palestinian terrorists who refuse to recognize Israel’s right to exist. That’s been Sweden’s policy for decades.

What was notable about Lofven’s statement is that he made it in his inaugural address to the Swedish Parliament.

What this means is that in Sweden, supporting the Palestinians against Israel is not a foreign policy issue. It is a domestic policy issue.

As Benjamin Weinthal documented in Monday’s Post, Swedish Social Democrat politicians with no connection to foreign policy have long records of vilifying Israel and condemning Jews that insist on supporting the Jewish state. Lofven’s government reflects this anti-Israel, and frankly anti-Semitic trend.

Lofven appointed Turkish-born Green Party politician Mehmet Kaplan to serve as urban planning and environment minister in his government. Three years ago Kaplan participated in the illegal, pro-Hamas Turkish flotilla to Gaza as a passenger aboard the Mavi Marmara terrorist ship. In a rally over the summer, he used jihadist language and called for the “liberation of Jerusalem,” and the “liberation of Palestine.” Kaplan has likened Swedish jihadists who travel to Iraq and Syria to fight for Islamic State to Swedish freedom fighters who fought against the Soviets in Finland during World War II.

Other leading politicians in the Social Democratic Party have traveled to Israel and participated in riots against IDF forces.

In other words, Swedish politicians have identified anti-Israel activism as a potent tool for garnering domestic support. This is why Lofven spent so much more time discussing it in his inaugural address than he spent discussing the killing fields in Syria and Iraq, for instance.

But just as Horton wasn’t willing to be lumped together with his Ku Klux Klan-supporting comrades, so the Swedes aren’t willing to admit that their hostility towards Israel owes to domestic considerations that have nothing to do with what Israel does.

Horton’s phony contrition and the Swedish embassy’s “clarification” flow from the same source. And they tell us something about what is happening in Europe and how we need to deal with Europe as it transforms itself before our eyes.

Europe is abandoning the ideals of the Enlightenment, and embracing authoritarianism and irrationality.

But it isn’t willing to admit what it is doing. As a consequence, it is possible to harken to those ideals to shame Europeans for their irrational bigotry and so slow the process down.

Horton will no doubt revert to open defamation of Israel in due time. The Swedish government will similarly attack us in due course.

But forcing them to slow down is important.

Whether or not Europe’s downward spiral is unstoppable is irrelevant for Israel because what is clear enough is that if Europe decides to abandon its current path, it won’t be because of anything Israel does.

Facing this situation, Israel must be guided by two goals as it confronts Europe. It needs to stop caring about what Europeans think of it, and it needs to reduce as much as possible its exposure to the European market.

On the latter issue, unless something fundamental changes, it is undeniable that at some point in the next 10 to 15 years, Europe will join the Arab League’s boycott of Israel. Israel needs time to develop alternative markets for its exports.

On the former issue, Europe’s main non-economic weapon against Israel today is the fact that the Israeli public and particularly Israel’s elites still care what Europe thinks of us. Israelis need time to understand that European hatred for Israel has nothing whatsoever to do with anything Israel does.

Well said, but what is true for Europe is also true for America, with its increasing hostility and hatred of Israel. The Obama administration is a Jew-hate administration, it is not impossible that some time in the future an even worse US administration – if such a thing is possible – ascends to power there. A Hugo Chavez type White House, a left-wing Latin American type in other words. American Jews are blind to this, as are others. It’s however arguably the future of America from a demographic and political perspective.

We have more to fear from Europe and America than we have to fear from Hamas, Hezbollah, perhaps even Iran. And we have more to fear from our self-loathing elite who will learn nothing no matter what. They are traitors and traitors they will remain.

Is it any wonder that any European politician, and from all places from Sweden, would be take advantage of anti-Israel rhetoric to get elected, considering their constituencies they are appealing to to get their votes? It’s an easy sell.

Having read the open letter and familarity with the Swedish declaration we get the typical whinging and “hard done by” response from Glick.
The open letter is an honest and heartfelt criticism of the brutal attacks carried out by the IDF in Gaza which deplores the physical and mental devastation of the citizens living in the strip. The sooner a UN investigation takes place regarding the destruction of Gaza the better for all concerned.
The only positive I can find in the article by Glick is at least she sees the writing on the wall. Sweden has led the diplomatic/political offensive and soon other European countries will folow suit and the boycott can begin in earnest.

Let’s see….Hmm…clearly you cannot read or listen as you have no clue about facts… 2nd, your racism is evident, so it is obvious you are also a KKK member like the good doctor Horton, you support the return of sweden to its nazi/islamist roots…so I am guessing that you 1.) have slaves, 2) are a pedophile like your hero Yasir Arafat, and 3.) still live in your mother’s basement.

“The open letter is an honest and heartfelt criticism of the brutal
attacks carried out by the IDF in Gaza

      Suuure…
Not only that but also an honest and heartfelt criticism of the Jewish tradition of slaughtering the non-Jewish children for blood to be consumed with matzo during the Passover. Both facts equally well documented. Well, maybe not so much well documented, but certainly “honestly and heartfelt” hoped for by every Jew hater of the world.

      • Vinegar Hill

The open letter criticises Israel. Why won’t you accept that? Not once is Jew/Jewish etc. mentioned in the letter or in my response. The criticism is directed against Israel. Why are you so arrogant and deny indirectly that non Jews put their lives on the line to defend the state of Israel? Over 20% of the population is non Jewish and you want a monopoly to try and show to the world that this is criticism of Jews not Israel. There is something radically wrong with your view of events.

            2. The permanent representative of the United Kingdom to the United Nations from 1964-1970, and was the chief drafter of Resolution 242, Lord Caradon, is a right wing Israeli.
            3. The former dean of Yale Law School who served as U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs from 1966-1969, and helped draft Resolution 242, Eugene Rostow, is a right wing Israeli.
            4. The U.S. representative to the United Nations from 1965-1968, and before that was a Supreme Court Justice. He too helped draft Resolution 242, Arthur J. Goldberg, is a right wing Israeli.

          • Michael Garfinkel

Cloaked in the phony sanctimony of legitimate “criticism.”

        • MukeNecca

“The open letter criticises Israel. Why won’t you accept that?

You are falsifying the matter from the very start. It is not letter criticizing Israel that I “can’t accept”. What I don’t accept is that the letter promotes a blatant lie about Israel. The lie about the “brutal attacks carried out by the IDF in Gaza” – the lie that you disseminate in your comment. The lie that you embrace so eagerly even before the awaited by you “UN investigation takes place”.
Obviously you must know ahead the result of the investigation since you feel safe to state your own verdict of IDF’s crimes in Gaza. Well, with the history of UN war against the Jewish state by means of endless anti-Israel resolutions you are making a logical assumption that once again your and UN sentiments will converge.

And why should I take seriously your argument that “Not once is the Jew/Jewish etc. mentioned in the letter or your response”? Who do you think you are fooling by carefully omitting the “Jew” word, but spewing lies about the Jewish state?

And what is that gibberish of my indirectly denying that “non Jews put their lives on the line to defend the state of Israel?”
Have we ever discussed it? Where does this become an issue? But since you brought it up I’ll respond:
The 20% are mostly Muslim Arabs, of which overwhelming majority not only don’t “put their lives on the line to defend the State of Israel”, but often actively
assist those who carry terror attack against the 80% or the Jewish segment of the population and not so seldom carry these attacks themselves.
The non -Jews who put their lives on the line are predominantly Christian who increasingly realize that the Islam is their enemies, and only strong Israel can give them protection. By contributing to the defence of Israel they contribute to defence of their home. Very simple and quite fair. So why do you imply the Jews, rather than non-Jews, should be grateful here?
The Jews will still prevail in the wars against Moslem invaders even without the non-Jewish soldiers, but Christians would have to stoop back to their old dhimmi posture if Jews lost a war.

And let me add that they are NOT obliged to join the IDF. If they do so they must feel it is only fair. Wouldn’t you? Well, probably not…

You present this gem of ridiculousness:

”Over 20% of the population is non Jewish and you want a monopoly to try and show to the world that this is
criticism of Jews not Israel. There is something radically wrong with your view of events.

Absolutely! Israel is a Jewish State, created by the Jews, anchored in Jewish ethical and moral principles,
defended and maintained with Jewish sweat and blood and hope. The fact that there are non Jews living as free citizens in the Jewish State doesn’t make the Jewish State any less Jewish. On the contrary, it agrees very much with the Jewish principles on which the State was built.
And, by the way, I’m Christian, so I have no problem distinguishing between a legitimate criticism and a rant of a Jew hater.
          Now, go away.

I have read many other previous reports from UN agencies that denounced the brutalities in Gaza on previous occasions. I have read the recent Russell Commission report which reveals “brutal attacks” in Gaza. I will read the other reports when appear in a few months that will comment about the recent attacks.
Are you trying to claim that Christians and Druze don’t defend the state of Israel by fighting with the IDF? If they do help in the defence of the country why did you omit them by saying that a verbal criticism of Israel was only against Jews?

          • SCREW SOCIALISM

            The HamASS brutalities on Gaza?

The HamASS demands that men, women and children serve as Human Shields for HamASS as they burrow deep underground in their bunkers.

          • MukeNecca

I have read many other previous reports from UN agencies that denounced the brutalities in Gaza on previous occasions.

            So did I.
Additionally I also read, and heard, reports about the trueness of “UN reporting” in general and in particular when Israel is concerned.

Luckily, I have established my idea of UN as a grotesquely corrupted, morally compromised, cynical organization even before I had an opportunity to travel to Israel and realize its profound humanity, love of justice and respect for truth. With these contrasting notions about the character of the two I never had slightest problem deciding whose reports I should trust. I believe any averagely intelligent, intellectually honest, unbiased person agrees with me on that.

”Are you trying to claim that Christians and Druze don’t defend the state of Israel by fighting with the IDF?

What?! Where did you see me claiming that? Are you
drunk, or is your hatred so deep that it now effects your optical nerve?

”If they do help in the defence of the country why did you omit them by saying that a verbal criticism of Israel
            was only against Jews?

You must be desperate to make a point, any point – even if it is a complete gibberish and dishonest.

I’ve never said anything about the “verbal criticism of Israel” being directed only against Jews. Again, where did you spot that? I said and I maintain so that “verbal criticism” or the vicious anti-Israeli propaganda is the newest mutation of the old anti-Semitism. The fact that anti-Semitism is almost per definition hostile to Jew-friendly gentiles is nothing new and obvious to anyone. Certainly not deserving special mentioning. You are constructing a weirdest kind of a straw man.

OK, I had enough of you. Good bye.

And you have no problem with the fact that the open letter ONLY criticizes Israel? That is has nothing at all to say about the thousands of rockets Hamas sent into Israel before Israel tried to defend itself? That it seemingly accepts the use of Gaza’s women and children as human shields by Hamas, with no need to comment on this?

You don’t think that is biased? You don’t think that’s an issue? You don’t think that’s a sign of anti-Semitism. Or to put it more basically, you just don’t think.

    • Giborei1967

      • Vinegar Hill

I did not see any evidence that the 192 countries brutally attacked the Palestinians in Gaza. So, no, I do not call for a boycott of them. Your argument that criticism of Israel is the same as criticising Jews. What a daft stance to take. All criticism of “Brits” is criticism of Protestants. Alñl criticism of the Irish is to criticise Catholics. Do you want me to continue?

Learn something:Palestinians face severe travel restrictions throughout the Arab world. They do not receive passports and their travel documents are only accepted by a few countries.

Palestinians cannot vote or run for office in national elections.

Children born to Palestinians do not get citizenship in their host countries, violating Article 7 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

          Jordan:

1967: Jordan refused to allow Gazans who came after the Six Day War to become Jordanian citizens. Today some 165,000 Palestinians in Jordan cannot become citizens and get no government services.

1970: 3500-5000 Palestinians killed and 20,000 Palestinians expelled, their camps demolished, in the Black September events.

1988: Jordan revoked citizenship for millions of West Bank Palestinians as they declared “independence.” As usual, this move was justified as being for their own good.

2010: Jordan continued to revoke citizenship for thousands more Palestinians

2012: Jordan passed an electoral law that effectively limits the number of Palestinian members of Parliament to less than 10%

2013: Jordan places Palestinian refugees from Syria in special camps that they cannot leave, separate from other refugees, and turns hundreds or thousands back to a dangerous future in Syria.

2014: Palestinians who are citizens are still denied equal rights in the military, and on getting college scholarships and being admitted to some public universities, among other areas.

          Egypt:

1948: Placed all Palestine refugees that reached Egypt into camps, forced men to go back to Palestine to fight.

1949: Expelled all Palestinian from Egyptian camps into Gaza. Very few Palestinian Arabs were left in Egypt.

1950: Egypt refused any UNRWA presence on its territory, relegating it to Gaza.

1949 – 1956: Any Palestinians in Egypt were barred from schooling and employment.

2013: Hundreds of Palestinian refugees from Syria placed into jail as they try to enter Egypt

2013-now: Egypt has effectively closed the Rafah border with Gaza, even limiting hospital patients from traveling, effectively imprisoning 1.7 million Gazans.

          Lebanon:

1950-58: Would only issue one-way travel documents for Palestinians to leave the country

          1962: Palestinians classified as “foreigners”:
73 job categories banned for Palestinians until 2010; now there are “only” 50 jobs off limits
They are still banned from working as physicians, journalists, pharmacists or lawyers.
They are not permitted to build new houses or own property, or even to repair their homes
Martial law imposed on refugee camps. Army stops people from entering and exiting.
Limitations on schools for Palestinian “foreigners”
Not allowed to live outside refugee camps, which in turn are not allowed to grow. Population of camps is now triple capacity.
Palestinians not allowed to create organizations.

1975-78: At least 5000 Palestinians killed in Lebanese civil war

1985-88: Thousands killed in “War of the Camps”

1995: Law prohibiting Palestinians from entering country without a visa; and visas weren’t issued. Those expelled from Gulf states could not return to Lebanon. (Law repealed in 1999.)

2005: Specific laws prohibiting foreigners who are not “nationals of a recognized state” – Palestinians – from owning property. Those who owned it previously cannot pass it to their children.

2007: 31,000 Palestinians homeless because while Lebanese Army destroyed Nahr el Bared camp

2013: Some 50,000 refugees from Syria treated differently from other Syrian refugees; expensive temporary short-term visas effectively make them criminals

2013: Lebanon starts turning some Palestinian Syrian refugees away at the border

          Kuwait:

1991: 400,000 Palestinians were harassed and forced out of the country.

          Libya:

1994-5: Expelled 30,000 Palestinians, dismissed many from their jobs and confiscated their houses
Arab countries refused to take in the new refugees. Hundreds were stranded in the desert or the sea. Eventually Libya allowed some to stay but kept threatening to expel them again. In the end about 15,000 were forced to go to Arab countries they had documents for, Gulf countries, and Western nations.

2011: Palestinians were forced to pay a special tax of $1550.

2012: Many Palestinians lost their homes as properties were claimed by others in the wake of the revolution and the collapse of the judicial system.

          Iraq:

Early 1950s: Expelled striking Palestinian workers, along with Saudi Arabia and Libya..

2005: After Saddam Hussein lost power, Palestinians in Iraq were subjected to abduction, hostage-taking, killing and torture from armed groups. Politicians derided them. About 15,000 were forced to leave Iraq. Thousands were stranded in camps in the desert between Iraq and Syria, where no Arab country would allow them to enter.

          Qatar:

1994: Refused to grant Palestinians work visas.

          Syria:

1970: Palestinians cannot vote, cannot run for office, cannot own farmland, cannot own more than one property..

2005-2008: Syria did not allow thousands of Palestinian Arab refugees fleeing from Iraq to enter the country.

2012-today: Some 2000 Palestinians killed so far in Syria’s war. About 50 have starved to death as forces cut off all food and water to the Yarmouk camp.

Many of the “no-go” zones function as microstates governed by Islamic Sharia law. Host-country authorities effectively have lost control in these areas and in many instances are unable to provide even basic public aid such as police, fire fighting and ambulance services.

The “no-go” areas are the by-product of decades of multicultural policies that have encouraged Muslim immigrants to create parallel societies and remain segregated rather than become integrated into their European host nations.

In Britain, for example, a Muslim group called Muslims Against the Crusades has launched a campaign to turn twelve British cities – including what it calls “Londonistan” – into independent Islamic states. The so-called Islamic Emirates would function as autonomous enclaves ruled by Islamic Sharia law and operate entirely outside British jurisprudence.

The Islamic Emirates Project names the British cities of Birmingham, Bradford, Derby, Dewsbury, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Luton, Manchester, Sheffield, as well as Waltham Forest in northeast London and Tower Hamlets in East London as territories to be targeted for blanket Sharia rule.

In the Tower Hamlets area of East London (also known as the Islamic Republic of Tower Hamlets), for example, extremist Muslim preachers, called the Tower Hamlets Taliban, regularly issue death threats to women who refuse to wear Islamic veils. Neighborhood streets have been plastered with posters declaring “You are entering a Sharia controlled zone: Islamic rules enforced.” And street advertising deemed offensive to Muslims is regularly vandalized or blacked out with spray paint.

In the Bury Park area of Luton, Muslims have been accused of “ethnic cleansing” by harassing non-Muslims to the point that many of them move out of Muslim neighborhoods. In the West Midlands, two Christian preachers have been accused of “hate crimes” for handing out gospel leaflets in a predominantly Muslim area of Birmingham. In Leytonstone in east London, the Muslim extremist Abu Izzadeen heckled the former Home Secretary John Reid by saying: “How dare you come to a Muslim area.”

n France, large swaths of Muslim neighborhoods are now considered “no-go” zones by French police. At last count, there are 751 Sensitive Urban Zones (Zones Urbaines Sensibles, ZUS), as they are euphemistically called. A complete list of the ZUS can be found on a French government website, complete with satellite maps and precise street demarcations. An estimated 5 million Muslims live in the ZUS, parts of France over which the French state has lost control.

Muslim immigrants are taking control of other parts of France too. In Paris and other French cities with high Muslim populations, such as Lyons, Marseilles and Toulouse, thousands of Muslims are closing off streets and sidewalks (and by extension, are closing down local businesses and trapping non-Muslim residents in their homes and offices) to accommodate overflowing crowds for Friday prayers. Some mosques have also begun broadcasting sermons and chants of “Allahu Akbar” via loudspeakers into the streets.

The weekly spectacles, which have been documented by dozens of videos posted on Youtube.com (here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here), and which have been denounced as an “occupation without tanks or soldiers,” have provoked anger and disbelief. But despite many public complaints, local authorities have declined to intervene because they are afraid of sparking riots.

In the Belgian capital of Brussels (which is 20% Muslim), several immigrant neighborhoods have become “no-go” zones for police officers, who frequently are pelted with rocks by Muslim youth. In the Kuregem district of Brussels, which often resembles an urban war zone, police are forced to patrol the area with two police cars: one car to carry out the patrols and another car to prevent the first car from being attacked. In the Molenbeek district of Brussels, police have been ordered not to drink coffee or eat a sandwich in public during the Islamic month of Ramadan.

In Germany, Chief Police Commissioner Bernhard Witthaut, in an August 1 interview with the newspaper Der Westen, revealed that Muslim immigrants are imposing “no-go” zones in cities across Germany at an alarming rate.

The interviewer asked Witthaut: “Are there urban areas – for example in the Ruhr – districts and housing blocks that are “no-go areas,” meaning that they can no longer be secured by the police?” Witthaut replied: “Every police commissioner and interior minister will deny it. But of course we know where we can go with the police car and where, even initially, only with the personnel carrier. The reason is that our colleagues can no longer feel safe there in twos, and have to fear becoming the victim of a crime themselves. We know that these areas exist. Even worse: in these areas crimes no longer result in charges. They are left ‘to themselves.’ Only in the worst cases do we in the police learn anything about it. The power of the state is completely out of the picture.”

In the Netherlands, a Dutch court ordered the government to release to the public a politically incorrect list of 40 “no-go” zones in Holland. The top five Muslim problem neighborhoods are in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht. The Kolenkit area in Amsterdam is the number one Muslim “problem district” in the country. The next three districts are in Rotterdam – Pendrecht, het Oude Noorden and Bloemhof. The Ondiep district in Utrecht is in the fifth position, followed by Rivierenwijk (Deventer), Spangen (Rotterdam), Oude Westen (Rotterdam), Heechterp/ Schieringen (Leeuwarden) and Noord-Oost (Maastricht).

In Sweden, which has some of the most liberal immigration laws in Europe, large swaths of the southern city of Malmö – which is more than 25% Muslim – are “no-go” zones for non-Muslims. Fire and emergency workers, for example, refuse to enter Malmö’s mostly Muslim Rosengaard district without police escorts. The male unemployment rate in Rosengaard is estimated to be above 80%. When fire fighters attempted to put out a fire at Malmö’s main mosque, they were attacked by stone throwers.

In the Swedish city of Gothenburg, Muslim youth have been hurling petrol bombs at police cars. In the city’s Angered district, where more than 15 police cars have been destroyed, teenagers have also been pointing green lasers at the eyes of police officers, some of whom have been temporarily blinded.

In Gothenburg’s Backa district, youth have been throwing stones at patrolling officers. Gothenburg police have also been struggling to deal with the problem of Muslim teenagers burning cars and attacking emergency services in several areas of the city.

According to the Malmö-based Imam Adly Abu Hajar: “Sweden is the best Islamic state.”

Here, let me explain it to you. Horton criticizes Israel because innocent civilians, who voted Hamas into office and cooperate with it, were killed while being used as human shields by their government. But he does not seem to care about the deaths of hundreds of times more civilians that were deliberately targeted by the opposing sides in Syria. Israel is the Jewish state while Syria is a Muslim state. Now, put on your thinking cap and see if you can spot the motive behind the disparate treatment of the two situations. Got it yet?

          • Vinegar Hill

You try to hide behind the accusation that Hamas used human shields to avoid the reality that the IDF slaughtered women, children and babies.
Where do you expext the Palestinian fighters to go? Into a tent for all and sundry to see!!
Netanyahu and his military command do not conduct
their war against Hamas from a tent in the desert but from the general
staff headquarters, which are located in central Tel Aviv. tThey, too, “hide behind civilians” – the Tel Aviv
metropolitan area is Israel’s most densely populated region.

          • kasandra

The IDF doesn’t have its HQ in the basement of a hospital nor does it store missiles in schools or force its civilians up on the roof of buildings likely to be targets. In fact, to Hamas all of Israel and its inhabitants are targets. Their rockets are unguided and the just point them in a general direction and fire them hoping to kill as many Israelis as possible.

It could not garner such support a fewdecades ago when the “domestic” meant Swedish. Today with an exponentially growing number of muhammedans in Sweden being a skillful Israel basher is one of the necessary conditions for having a chance in politics. That’s why the totalitarian leftist government of Sweden

In part, Europeans lie about Jews and Israel to keep their Muslims happy. But, for many years, certain European nations have liked to farm out the dog work of anti-semitic oppression or murder to others. Many stood by as the Nazis did their thing. Many took pains to keep Jews from escaping or finding a destination.

as the size of their moslem populations increase the Europeans will have a taste of what it means to have so many of them in their midst. I wish there were even more Moslems in Europe and especially in Swede, they will see soon enough the difference between having Jews and Having moslems in their countries. They already have areas where even the police is afraid to go into, and they will have to pay much more as time goes on for more of them depend on state aid. Maybe they will wish then that Jews come back. They will in time be punished for their hatread and ill will towards Israel and Jews in general.

When the trolls spout the old line that they are not antisemitic only critical of Israel, remember this story:
The Kosher Controversy at Sainsbury’s Speaks to a Profound Problem: Acquiescence to anti-Semitism The Daily Telegraph ^ | August 18th, 2014 | Brendan O’Neill

    Posted on Mon Aug 18 2014 12:12:01 GMT-0400 (EDT) by Fenhalls555

Were you outraged by a Sainsbury’s store’s decision over the weekend to hide away its kosher foods in an attempt to placate anti-Israel protesters? You should have been. For this incident, though seemingly a one-off, speaks to a profound problem in Europe today – the respectable classes’ acquiescence to anti-Semitism; their willingness to accept anti-Semitic sentiment as a fact of life and to shrug it off or, worse, kowtow to it.

The kosher incident took place at the Sainsbury’s in Holborn in London. When a mob of anti-Israel protesters gathered outside the store, the manager took the extraordinary decision to take all kosher products off the shelves lest the protesters target them and smash them up. Kosher foods, of course, are Jewish not Israeli; they are part of the Jewish dietary requirement, not part of any kind of Israeli food corporatism. To shamefacedly hide away such foodstuffs in order to appease a gang of hot-headed Israel-haters is an attack on a religious people and their rights, not on the Israeli state. That in Britain in 2014 we have store managers taking kosher foods off public display should be of concern to anyone who hates prejudice and racism.

    • Vinegar Hill

Who is saying that the manager should not be criticised? Please show me the comment on FP Magazine defending his action.. You are so obsessed with anti Jewsish feelings that it leads you to reference something like Kosher food when the issue is about the brutalities of the IDF in Gaza. How come you did not mention any of the points I made?….you can’t!

      • bklyn farmer

Why are antisemites such as yourself go throught this feign outrage when called out for what you are, why ignore your substitute “Israel” for Jew, why ignore that you call for BDS for Israel yet say nothing of the other 192 nations, why do you question the existence of Israel only yet fake outrage at being accurately described as a hateful antisemite. Why do you lie and misquote the law and why do you seek to weaken Israel if not rooted in you own pathetic bigotry. Don’t be upset about being appropriately identify as an antisemite, it is an all too common affliction your not fooling anyone and your fake outrage is pathetic. If the Israeli Jew was magically transformed into the Muslims and every other detail of history kept the same you and you kind wouldn’t have a word of criticism against it, it is because it is a Jewish state that you are hostile to it and that, my little drama queen is why you are an antisemite.

        • UCSPanther

I guess the “antizionist” reaction is somewhat similar when Soviet Premier Kruschev was at the UN complaining about “western imperialism”, and when he was called out, he got visibly enraged and muttered “We will bury you!” in response.

        • Vinegar Hill

The other 192 nations have not brutalised, like israel has, the people of Palestine. That is why i criticse Israel. Note, I do not distinguish between the Jews, Christians, Muslims etc. or whatever other religions are practised in Israel. Why can’t you accept that?
Give me an example of where I have “lied” and “misquoted the law”.
