Bill de Blasio Cracks Down on Jaywalking, Then Jaywalks

Jaywalking is as much a part of New York as fake Rolex watches and people complaining how much more real the city used to be. But that’s not something that you can expect a Red Sox fan who eats pizza with a knife and fork like William Wilhelm Jr. aka Bill de Blasio to get.

As part of a ridiculous Swedish Vision Zero traffic plan to eliminate all traffic deaths in New York (no seriously), he cracked down on jaywalking. People are still getting hit by cars, but an 84-year old man ended up beaten by cops for jaywalking.

And then Bill de Blasio was caught jaywalking, just like he was caught speeding, because laws are for little people, not for limousine liberals.

He talks the talk — but won’t walk the walk.

Mayor de Blasio, who has been lecturing about pedestrian safety since he stepped foot in City Hall, strolled across a Brooklyn street against the light Friday in a blatant jaywalking violation.

Hizzoner was gabbing on his old-school flip-phone as he slowly made his way across 11th Street on Sixth Avenue in Park Slope — and his NYPD detail faithfully jaywalked with him.

A Post reporter caught the foot faux pas on video a day after de Blasio’s SUV was filmed blowing through two stop signs in Queens and twice going 15 mph over the speed limit.

A prickly de Blasio went for the walk after punting questions about his lead-footed detail to the NYPD, saying the maneuvers were a matter of police “security protocols.”

At an afternoon press conference, de Blasio refused to take questions about the jaywalking or his laundry list of moving violations in Queens.

Meanwhile here’s what happens to New Yorkers during a Vision Zero crackdown who aren’t the progressive mayor.

Cops bloodied an 84-year-old man and put him in the hospital Sunday when he jaywalked at an Upper West Side intersection and didn’t appear to understand their orders to stop, witnesses said.

Kang Wong was strolling north on Broadway and crossing 96th Street at around 5 p.m., when an officer told him to halt because he had walked against the light.

Neither the hospital nor the cops would allow him to see his dad until after 10 p.m., explaining that since he’d not been admitted, he was not a patient, but a “prisoner.’’

Early Monday, cops fingerprinted Wong and charged him with jaywalking, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct.

Cops beat down an 84-year-old man and charged him with jaywalking, but they jaywalk along with Bill de Blasio, because it’s De Blasio Time.

This is good stuff. De Blasio is the gift that keeps on giving.
The word is going to spread and Dw Blasio is going to be the butt of jokes.
Maybe American comedians like Maher will not criticize de Blasio, but it is a big world out there.
    “It is deBlasio Time!’

Yes, he’s perfect for ridicule. As you note, he’s the gift that keeps on giving … and he can’t help himself. He’s a walking talking joke. I’m may not enjoy the next 4 years … but at least I’m going to laugh.

The same thing recently happened to a young woman in Austin. Where’s the ACLU? Now you can’t walk the streets without being beaten and arrested—if that’s not a “civil liberties” matter, I don’t know what it is. By the way, I’m normally very supportive of cops because they do a tough job for not much money and I’ve personally never been treated by the police other than with courtesy, but these guys seem to be nothing more than revenue-hungry thugs.

Lucky he wasn’t black, or there would’ve been a masssive groundswell of outrage by left liberals, pro gay, pro abortion, barak obama and last but not least, black activists

Laws no longer pertain to Democrats. They are better than we are.
